I, Kody Ashworth, will keep a record of all Creatures (Magical or Mundane) that I come across and any observations I make about them. List will be kept in alphabetical order. May also contain bad art by Kody Ashworth.
Rating is a danger scale of how dangerous I think the creature is from 1 - 10! Which can be for any number of reasons that I won't explain here, sorry~
A cute mouse who lives under my bed! He's very friendly when Reena isn't around but he's smart enough to hide when she's in the room. His favourite treats are cheese crumbs and digestive biscuits and he doesn't like potato. I've also seen him outside the house, in the garden from time to time, but he seems to be able to come inside as he pleases. If Reena catches me feeding him again, she'll be big mad. Gotta keep bedroom mouse secret and safe.
They seem to like shady spots to hide in (e.g. under a stone bench) and can move quite quickly, which makes catching them hard. Sometimes, if you're really lucky, it's possible to see two of them together. They'll be fighting with their big pinchers! If you try to catch one, however, the second one will get away. They're impressive bugs though, very cool. I'd love to try and find more sometime and highly recommend having a container to put them in!
Name: Choir Frog Rating: ★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Common Frog(?) | Professor Riveria's Office
Observed during the Welcome Feast. These amazing frogs are quite large and sport bow ties! They're also super smart, being able to sing along to a song and keep in tune! Suspect some of them are more talented than the people who are singing with them... Do you think Professor Rivera would allow me to meet one face to face without joining the choir? I'd love to check them out up close!
Name: Dragon [UNKNOWN] Rating: ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆ UNCERTAIN | Skies above school
[TBC]
Name: Dragon Rating: ★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆ Japanese Pearlfang | Japan(?)
Name: Frogspawn Rating: ★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ Frog eggs| Great Lake
Not much to say about these. I count them as creatures since they are technically alive! The best way to gather some is to scoop really slow with something to put them in and then they can go into your Potions Kit. Can be used for a beanstalk potion (which seems fun) or a bubble-head potion (which I want to make)!
Name: Ginger Cat Rating: ★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆ House cat | At Home / Garden
Seems to be a very intelligent cat! Mum made some interesting remarks about him which are honestly just downright suspicious and now I want to find out more. He doesn't seem to show up very often but when he does, I try to give him some food. I don't think Reena likes him very much but I think he is handsome! I wonder if he belongs to someone? I haven't seen a collar on him but he's super friendly.
Name: Gormtoad Rating: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆ Garden Pest | At Pumpkin Patch
I hate to admit this but... I think I'll feel better if I write about it here. These creatures are invasive and destructive, especially to magical gardens. I wonder if they thrive off the magic being used. Anyway, The only way to deal with them is to behead them AND YES, I did that!! I feel bad but... yeah. It's messy. I'm sorry Gormtoad. I hope you're in a better place now.

I, Kody Ashworth, will help Pierce Twiggs discover huggable trees, bushes & plants! To help with this quest, I'm going to start a record here of any interesting and worthy additions.
I can't wait to show Pierce!
Rating is a huggability scale of how good to hug I think the tree/bush/plant is from 1 - 10! Which can be for any number of reasons that I won't explain here, sorry~
Name: Minty Plant [Real Name Unknown] Rating: ★★★★★★★★☆☆ Found during Herbology Extra-C | Clearing off the Forest Path
This plant is GIANT! At least as tall as my dad and he's giant, soooooooo. Anyway, it's not a tree, and it has flowers that like to shoot out minty stuff that makes you cough. It can be a bit temperamental and wriggly but when it's in a good mood, it's quite satisfying to hug! It isn't too soft or firm -- it is big enough that hugging it feels good in my arms. I think Pierce would find this plant interesting!
We had no idea you were trying out until your mother let slip the news this morning. We went to check in on her, after what was written in the Daily Prophet. Hardly got a few words in, as she's spending her time locked away in the art studio, but the brief moment she did answer the door we heard about you making the team. As Keeper? Just like your dad.
He would be so proud of you. And we're all proud of you, little Duck. I wish we could celebrate in person. When is your nearest Hogsmeade visit? I reckon I could stop by and share some treats from Grandma to mark the occasion.
Of course, making the team also means you need a broomstick. Rather than trouble your mother with it, I'm happy to help you out. This is with her permission, of course. I've had a look at the catalogue from Magnora Brooms, and there's quite a good selection. Any that take your fancy, let us know. Don't worry about a thing; we've got it covered. Grandma and I will, of course, also be there for every one of your matches. Without fail.
Work hard, and do your best. Be responsible about this though; Quidditch can be rough and, at times, dangerous too. This is quite a privilege, so keep that in mind and take this new responsibility seriously. But have fun too! I want to hear all about it, and please tell me when you'll be in Hogsmeade next.
So proud of you, kiddo. Polish up those flight feathers eh, little Duck? This is your year, I can feel it in my bones. Keep in touch, okay? I want to hear everything, and what creatures you've met this year. Write to your mum too; she misses you.
It was a nice surprise to be accepted on the team. I didn't think I had done well enough during try-outs (I tried for Beater first and then Keeper) but it seems Madam Graysteel has faith in me to be an asset to our house team.
About my broom -- First I want to say thank you so much for helping me get one. I was worried about what to do, I didn't want to upset mum by bringing it up so your letter was a relief.
Would it be okay for me to ask for the Moonclaw? I know it's probably an ambitious broom for my first one but I'm really determined to do well on the team and I don't expect to get another broom. I would really like this one. If you and grandma think it's too much, I'd be happy with the Ironbark as well.
I have practise with my team this afternoon, I'm excited to see how it goes. I hope I can improve before our first match. We'll be playing Slytherin soon.
I'd love to meet you in Hogsmeade! Should I ask my siblings about coming along? Mum said not to go alone... Um, I think the next one is on Halloween!
Can't wait to see you and Granny for my first match! Sorry for my rambly letter... I'm okay. I love you both!
I'm sorry, Kody -- I won't be able to make it to Hogsmeade today, as we suddenly need to head to Italy and look into a matter. Nothing to be concerned about, but we'll have reschedule to celebrate another time.
I hope you and Verity enjoy your first trip anyway, and spoil yourselves with lots of sweets or jokes. Be careful out there as well; don't wander off alone, okay?
Did you have a good first Quidditch practice? I hope the broomstick your Grandparents bought was one of the best ones, and has lots of safety measures. Is your Captain nice, or at least reasonable?
I miss you kids terribly. Perhaps more than ever, now you're all growing up. I considered perhaps visiting, at Hogsmeade someday, you know? But with Dementors in the area, I don't dare risk it. Please be very careful, little Duck. Verity, too. Those things... they find every little bit of sadness deep inside, as if all joy is gone from the world. Sometimes I feel like one is always around me, but then I see your smiling faces and I'm reminded there is still light in the world.
Your father was always my light, and I his. That never faded; it lives in you, now. Sometimes, I used to think it too cruel a fate -- that you look and act so much like him, when he cannot be with us. I'm sorry for that, as I'm sure it was quite a burden on you as well. But now I think differently, as you're not only his son but mine too.
Now I feel that you were born for a reason. Our middle child. Our light and tether.
I've been thinking so much lately that my head is getting loud. I'm sorry to also burden you with this, but Reena and Jaxen... they're O.W.L and N.E.W.T students now, and have carried far too much already. Perhaps it is time I lighten their load? Perhaps it's finally time to do what I was supposed to do, and make this right.
Things will be different soon. By Christmas, you'll see. I promise you that. I know what has to be done now; it is time. I am strong enough for this, thanks to each of you... my little lights through the darkness.
I love you, sweetheart. I'm so proud of you, and everything that is uniquely you. I haven't said that nearly enough, I'm sorry. But never doubt it. You are just as precious, just as loved, and just as special. Not because of him, or because of me, but because of you.
Please be careful in Hogsmeade; don't wander alone. Please at least try the Butterbeer in the Three Broomsticks, though your father absolutely hates the stuff. He spat it all over me on a date once, and was more upset about it than I was. Just... please, little Duck, be alert. Don't talk to anyone you don't know, especially now.
Hi!! How are things going back home? I wanted to write and tell you about what I've been up to lately, but also thank you for your letter.
I've been eating three meals a day and getting lots of sleep! Classes are harder this year but fun too, I won a prize in Charms class! Quidditch practice was wonderful too (I love my broom!!!!) and we have our first match soon. Will you come watch? If not, it's okay!!
Me and Vee went to Hogsmeade together and I didn't even spend all my allowance on Chocolate Frog Cards! I need to write Grandpa a letter too but I wanted to write to you first.
I miss you mum, I hope you're doing okay at home. I can't wait to come home at Christmas and give you a big big hug!
P.s Sorry about the mud, I was collecting ingredients for Potions. I'm going to brew some Broom Polish for my new Moonclaw!
I don't know if you talked to Grandma and Grandpa but we lost our first Quidditch match. I kept letting goals in and let my team down (they don't seem mad at me at least so I guess I'm allowed to keep playing!). I did have a lot of fun and my broom is SO COOL! I was zooming and zipping and stuff!
But the rain was a pain in the butt! I was so cold when I finally got inside. But I listened to Reena and had a deliciously warm soup for dinner (it's called Potato and Leek, can we have it over Christmas? It was super yummy!).
Speaking of Christmas, I can't wait to see you and the house and garden and the cat and Grandma and Grandpa! Don't decorate before we get there so we can help!!! Hope you're looking forward to Christmas too.
I've missed you and I've been saving up lots of big bear duck hugs just for you Mum!
I hope you don't mind that I'm writing you a letter so soon! I made it to school in one piece and even had a lot of fun on the train.
I sat with Pierce Twiggs and Verity. We talked about Pierce's trip to Japan and all the awesome things he did there and Verity doodled a really good ink design on my arm.
Pierce mentioned a dragon called a Japanese Pearlfang and I wanted to ask if it would be possible for you to send me a book about dragons? I'd love to learn more about them and having my own book would be really neat!
I'd prefer one that's not too heavy to carry around...
Oh when I got back to school I helped out at the Pumpkin patch. I got to follow some beetle tracks and added TWO WHOLE BAGS of fertiliser! It was so much fun! The pumpkins get soooooooo big too! I found a really good one to keep for all my hard work.
I'm going to the Greenhouse now to help Professor Sprout with something.
Lots of Love Thanks! I'll write again soon!
P.S. I showered after the pumpkin patch so I'm not smelly anymore yay!
