As Amber and Josh had already made plans for a duel during breakfast this morning, she had decided to just review some of the notes she had taken during classes until he would be finished with Quidditch practise.
Now, she already waited for him at the Duellist Chamber. But because waiting was boring and she had no desire to read anything anymore, in her head already swirling too much information around, she pulled out her wand and shot spells at some dummies.
Warm-ups were important before sport, right? And it seemed to clear her mind a bit, as she needed to focus on her spells.

Amber was already waiting by the time Joshua arrived in the Duellist Chamber and he grinned brightly at her before he got rid of his backpack and robe. He put his wand behind his ear when he approached her and started stretching his arms and legs.
She had given him that idea with her warming up.
Perhaps that would do the trick. His duel against Amy had been abysmal and he did not wish to repeat such a humiliating failure -- well, it hadn't actually been all that bad.
And who better to practice with than his very good friend?
"Ready when you are," he said and picked his wand into his casting hand. He was quite ready to get started.

Amber returned the grin from Joshua when he arrived but continued with her spells.
Though, as she noticed his warm-up, she chuckled and stopped casting.
"Shouldn't you be warm already from practise? How was it?"
She gave him a wide grin, clearly teasing him and not expecting a real answer. They would see tomorrow how they would fare against each other. Although, more she and Caine rather than Joshua and her, but of course the whole teams as well.
Amber was really excited about it. However, now she should perhaps focus on the duel in front of her...
When Joshua was ready, she took her place opposite from him, and hold out her wand.
"Alright, let's start then!"
With that, she cast her first offensive spell.

"Well, yeah." Joshua made a face at Amber's teasing tone. "But also no. It's cold out."
Perhaps they should swap their stuff back. He didn't actually want to run around with a Ravenclaw beanie, not when he had his Hufflepuff one right there.
"It was awesome. Ravenclaw don't stand a chance!", his tone was joking. But he did feel a lot mre confident about his team's chances in the upcoming match.
He was rather looking forward to it, despite his nerves.
But first there was a duel to play -- in which Amber promptly knocked him down a peck by sending him onto his buttocks.
Ouch, his pride.
He quickly got up to his feet and aimed at his friend to fire right back at her -- hopefully not embarassing himself any further.

Amber rolled her eyes but grinned at Joshua's remark. That old banter of his!
Though she was glad they could talk like that about Quidditch, and that whatever happened tomorrow would stay on the pitch. Alright, depending on the outcome, some teasing might be due, but all in good spirit!
As Amber had been a bit reluctant in the morning to actually agree to Joshua’s dueling request, she was quite surprised that her spell sent Joshua instantly to the ground. Such force, she hadn’t even intended!
But he wasn’t hurt, so everything was fine. In fact, he seemed even more determined to fight back immediately. Barely back on his feet, he hurled a spell towards her. Amber tried to raise her magic shield in time, but was too late; the spell hit her right arm.
An electric jolt shot through her entire body, causing her to freeze up for a moment. That was a nasty feeling! Amber shook it off and gave her friend a steely gaze. Alright, he wanted a proper duel, so they would do it!
With a concentrated expression, Amber pointed her wand back at Joshua and cast another offensive spell.

For a moment he thought he may have chosen a spell that was too rough for her, and he shrugged when she gave him the stink eye.
She wasn't hurt and this was the name of the game, after all.
She seemed rather determined however, aiming her wand at him amd he quickly cast a protective shield -- which her spell broke through.
Woah!
His hair stood on end as her magic surged through him with a bustling noise that sounded more menacing than it was. And -- miraculously it passed through him -- and he was still standing.
"Nice one, Amber! Now catch this!"

Not only did she catch his spell, she flung it right back at him, doing a great job of wiping off his grin. The spell hit him unprepared and square in the chest.
It caused him to lose his wand as he staggered backwards, his wand clattered on the floor.
"Merlin, Amber. No need to be mean about it," he grinned at her. Bested him, made him eat his words.
Brilliant!!
The effects of the spell wore off and Joshua went to pick up his wand, mischief on his mind.
"Think fast!"
[Ooc: new duel started with permission]

Amber was astonished that she actually had managed to fling the spell back as she had reacted only by instinct this time.
“Sorry, reflex!” She grinned at Joshua.
Seeing him in such a good mood slowly made her relax and enjoy herself, making the duel seem less harsh. In fact, it started to feel like they were back to teasing each other, though instead of words they used spells. Amber chuckled at that thought.
Her attention quickly shifted back to the actual duel as Joshua cast another spell. She raised her shield in time, but his spell had such a force that it broke through and hit her in her tummy.
She managed not to fall by taking a step back, but she wasn’t secure for long as the effect of the spell fell into place: invisible fingers seemed to run over her body, starting to tickle her.
She started to giggle and soon fell flat on the ground, not able to hold herself any longer on her feet. While Amber automatically tried to shove these ‘fingers’ away, her laugh echoed through the chamber.
Finally, the spell ebbed away and she lay exhausted on to floor, her limbs stretched out like a starfish. When she found back her breath, she sat up and wiped tears out of the corner of her eyes.
“That was mean! But nice job!” Amber grinned and felt light-hearted. A small giggle escaped her again, surely an aftereffect of the spell.
She picked herself up and turned with her wand to Joshua.
“Now, take that!” Amber quickly waved her wand and shot another spell at him.

Amber had felt confident, her spell was strong and would hit Joshua - and it did. Or rather, it hit his shield which was so sturdy that the spell just bounced off of it, directly back to her.
Not expecting that, she didn't have enough time to defend herself or dodge. The spell hit her right in her chest with full force and tossed her through the chamber, losing her wand in the process
Amber landed harshly on her back and groaned at the impact. That reminded her too much of the last DADA lesson...
"I'm fine!" She grumbled and raised a hand for Joshua, showing there was nothing to worry about, then slowly sat up.
"That was great!" She gave him a grin and a thumps up, then eyed him.
"Don't tell me, you held back the first match!"
She said it in a teasing tone, but in the back of her head she pondered if he would. If he had, it would make her really mad... But then again, why should he, he wouldn't profit from it, they duelled so they could both learn from it.
Amber sighed and decided to sit a minute longer on the ground, just resting a bit from the impact.
