Lindsey was looking for something good and scottish on the table to eat, something to remind her of home, when she saw a plate full of sausage and grabbed a few of them. "Oh, Bangers... Is their any mash to go with em?" She asked randomly as she looked around for some mashed potatoes and finally saw a small bowl hidden behind some fruit. Grabbed some fruit, she put that on her plate, before she scooped up some potatoes.
Suddenly, she looked over at Tom and scuffed. "Okay?! Ye got to be kiddin me, Lad." She said in defense of her team before taking a bite of her food. "The lad is by far one of the best in Britain... Certainly better than the Gargoyles." Taking another bit of her food, she looked over at him as she ate some and glanced around the room to see if she could spot Avery.
Where was Avery? Was she just hanging out in the common room all day? It sounded rather boring, but she figured whatever she was doing, she would see her later.

Toby didn't want to have to throw hands in the middle of the hall during lunch, he was sure he'd get a heap of detention and when his parents heard about how he'd hit a girl, he'd be grounded until he was forty- no, he'd better hope death found him before his mother because the howler he'd likely receive from her would be the least of his worries once she got her hands on him. But he was willing to risk it all, because he wasn't gonna let anyone push his new friend around. He hadn't made a whole ton of friends yet and he couldn't just let people punch the ones he'd managed to find.
"I fell"
Ryan's explanation wasn't what he'd been expecting and Toby hesitated briefly, looking between the Ravenclaw and the Hufflepuff as if trying to determine if he was being told the truth. However, after only a few moments had passed between them, he seemed satisfied that it was the truth- Ryan definitely looked embarrassed enough for it to make sense. He'd just have to make sure Ryan didn't trip again- or at least, next time he'd have to catch him before he had the chance to hurt himself. "Okay, if you were checking on him..." he chose to believe the Hufflepuff's explanation. Hufflepuff's were supposed to be kind and helpful anyway, why should he doubt her reasoning if Ryan had all but confirmed it himself. Staring after the girl when she retreated, he assumed back towards the Hufflepuff table. She'd called him 'lion-boy' and he wasn't sure if he liked that nickname much at all- was it because of his hair, did it look particularly messy that day? Had it looked bad all day? Or was it just because he was from Gryffindor? He'd have to ask her the next time they saw each other.
Slipping into the seat directly to Ryan's left, he raised an eyebrow at Ryan when he gestured towards the bread- it wasn't what Toby would gravitate towards for lunch, but Ryan had already proved that he was quite different from Toby, but not in a bad way. "Thanks! I thought you might have changed your mind and decided to sit with your Ravenclaw friends" he admitted, seizing a sandwich from a nearby platter and beginning to eat it ravenously.
"Do you know if Gerald will be sitting with us?" he spoke with his mouthful, but raised his hand to cover his mouth as he did so- it wasn't really impolite if he covered his mouth, was it?
Suddenly as if she'd been summond by his question, an arm was flung carelessly over his shoulder and Grace's voice spoke rather loudly close to his ear "nah, ain't seen him... Was just wondering when he'd come join us" he answered her question, looking around the hall as if hoping to spot the other Ravenclaw.

Elara entered the hall to find that it was already filled with the bustle of people and instead of heading towards the Slytherin table as she usually would during lunch time, she veered towards the table belonging to her own house. She was rather hungry, having spent the majority of her free time in the library and studying did kind of build up an appetite.
She almost immediately clocked Arthur sitting at the Hufflepuff table and veered to sit opposite him "hey, have a good morning?" she greeted, having not seen her friend since class that morning. Since she was still not talking to Hanna, Arthur would have to put up with being her go-to friend- but so far he hadn't seemed like he wanted to complain.
Taking a few sandwiches from a nearby platter, she then seized some carrot sticks and began eating those before paying attention to her sandwiches.
Sinead had been just behind her fellow Slytherin as they made their way to the great hall and overheard the boy's conversation with another student on Qudditch. Wanting to join in, but feeling to shy to do so, Sinead kept quiet as they all entered the great hall and she continued to follow her fellow 4th year to the Slytherin table. Arriving there she noticed that Amara was there, before joining Tom who had by now joined a younger Slytherin a few seats away. She sat down on the other side of Tom and sort of half listened to the conversation going on as she decided what she wanted for lunch.
"Uhh excuse me for interrupting, but the Colywn Crossbills? Gorodok Quidditch team?, can you tell me more about them? I'm a massive quidditch fan but don't really know much outside the two Irish teams I follow. I am first and foremost a Ballycastle Bats supporter but I also follow the Kenmare Kestrels." The young brunette says shyly offering a polite smile to both Tom and the younger Slytherin, who she vaguely recognized from seeing them around the common room.

Lindsey looked up at the new Slytherin who chimed in. She didn't know the teams? Lindsey smiled brightly at her and tried to get in before Tom did.
"Colywn Crossbills are the best quidditch team, straight from the Highlands of Scotland." She said in her thick highland accent and a big smile on her face. "The Gorodok Gargoyles just wish they could be just as good as the Crossbills." She said, looking at Tom and smiling, before she realized that she was looking right at him and blushed brightly before looking away and eating some of her sausage.
Mackenzie made a quick retreat from her conversation with the two boys, she was feeling like she was wasn't wanted in their company so she simply smiled and said her part before making her exit as quick as she could. At least the other boy was okay, she had shown her concern and made sure he was okay and that was that.
So, she made her way back to the Hufflepuff table, sitting herself down and starting to select what she wanted to eat, hoping for some company however all the same.
The day hadn't gone according to her plans at all, from breakfast things were thrown for a loop but - perhaps things could always improve. Her eyes darted across the table and down again, looking for a familiar face as she started in on her meal.
She noted one of her fellow housemates and fellow first-year had made there way into the hall - Charlotte if she recalled correctly. The other girl seemed a little lost in thought but after a moment of silence, Mackenzie moved carefully before settling herself across from the other girl. "Hey, Charlotte." Gosh, she hoped she had the right name...
Her voice was quiet as she offered a small smile, "You okay?"

Arthur offered a small smile to Charlotte. He didn't know much about the shy first year, but he hoped she was having a nice day. She seemed a little annoyed at something maybe, but those Doren kids were all a bit difficult to read, from what he could tell. He didn't know any of them personally, as none were in his year.
"I can't stop thinking about that iguana-thing. It was really weird." Arthur hated dealing with stuff like that in class, but at the same time he thought they were cool. That was probably why he liked care of magical creatures so much, he mused. "Did you talk to Hanna after class?" he thought maybe things were going better. He shoved a bite of sandwich in his mouth, then continued, mouth still full, "I mean, if you don't wanna talk about it because it was like...between you guys, I get it."
Rose walked into the cafeteria smiling so wide that her cheeks hurt. Today had been a really good day and Rose felt like she was soaring through the sky. Herbology was amazing, she got points for her house and was able to do very well in class. She even made a potential friend.
Walking over to her table she sat down across from Lindsey "Hi again, how are you?"

Joe arrived at lunch a tad later than the rest of his class it seemed. He still felt a bit hot with fading embarassement after what happened in herbology class.
Typical Benjamin Dover. Not taking the task seriously enough and then breaking things. And Joe had hoped so much to not cause a scene. And to avoid Dover completely.
He could only hope Professor Sprout did not think too poorly of him now. He actually had thought he'd be doing quite well in herbology at least, as it had been interesting to him even before going to Hogwarts.
The young boy stopped at the door to the Great Hall, feeling slightly overwhelmed he cussed under his breath: "That clay-brained egg shell" His thoughts still lingered on Ben Dover when he caught sight of the blond Ravenclaw and ginger Gryffindor boy who had been in his class earlier.
He pondered about joining them but remained in the door frame as he instinctively searched the room for his cousin Elara.
Herbology hadn’t been as bad as Ben had thought it would be. He even managed not to lose any house points! Now he was hungry like a Ukrainian Ironbelly though - after all that hard work.
Distracted by the thought of food - and the image of a gigantic dragon eating pancakes with a tiny fork - he almost ran over Joe, who was singlehandedly blocking the entry to the Great Hall with the cloud of indecisiveness surrounding him.
“That clay-brained egg shell.”
Is he talking about me?“Are you talking about me?”
Hold on… not quite good enough.“… you greasy mad-bred rabbit-sucker?”
Putting on his Evil-Smiley-Face, Ben barrelled into Joe’s shoulder and into the Great Hall like a mountain troll on Pepperup Potion. The smoke coming out of his ears was, of cause, a feature that he could only add in his mind. He was certain Joe got the point anyways.

Before he could control himself he was already in the middle of one rather gigantic eye-roll when he heard the familiar voice of what appeared to be the source of all his trouble: Ben Dover.
"Are you talking about me?", the other boy asked. Followed by a rather creative insult which if he was to be honest actually took Jonathan by surprise. It was not the usual broccoli thing that Joe already knew just too well.
If Joe interpreted Ben's evil grin corretcly it appeared he was also rather proud of the creativity he had just displayed. He stumbled forward when the other boy barreled into his shoulder, almost falling to the ground.
Joe cast Ben a dirty look and said through gritted teeth: "You know it, you saucy paper-faced nut-hook!"
He had caught himself again and turned to face the Gryffindor first year. "Stop pushing me around like that, you shag-eared canker blossom!", he said as he boldly stepped forward and pushed Ben's shoulder away in return with both arms to get his point across.
Ooh, he wouldn’t! But Joe obviously just did – and that meant WAR!
“That so, you rank evil-eyed dog-fish!”
Broccoli-Boy should do his photosynthesis elsewhere! Preferably far, far away from where Ben would do his best impression of a lunch-dementor sucking in soul-food.

Jade glanced up from her meal as Amy joined her. She considered her rather dull morning and shrugged. 'Not really. You?'
Well, that was a bit of a lousy conversation. She didn't have much else to add though, as while she and Amy got along well enough and had shared a dorm for years they still weren't at the friendship level of just hanging out and knowing what to say.
'Charms,' she added, indicating to her timetable. Still not a great conversation topic, but it kept them busy at least while they had lunch. Only one way to build that friendship and familiarity, right? 'Reckon it'll be something we can actually use this time? I mean, levitating stuff is great and all but...' Jade trailed off, scoffing as she muttered something under her breath.
She took a glance around the hall, looking for anything interesting or someone she knew. Not much was going on today, which could be a good or bad thing considering the chaos of things not too long ago. She hoped the Braxorn were doing better and didn't get out again. That was wild.
Then, it occurred to her that there was something she'd meant to tell Amy. It was probably going to be such huge and exciting news for the Twiggs girl, and yet Jade had somehow considered it an afterthought.
'Oh,' Jade said rather casually, reaching for her goblet of juice. 'Your broom arrived by the way. It's on your bed. You might want to write home about that soon. Word gets around, and your brother shares our common room.' She shrugged again, giving the class timetable another glance.

He thought he saw something akin to anger in Ben's eyes upon being pushed by him. The slight smirk that had formed on Joe's face for meeting the other boy's insults and physical aggression head on faded as he realized he was standing close enough now to be unable to evade a perfectly placed punch to the chin as he had had the misfortune to live through before.
However Ben's face did not seek out close contact with Joe's face this time. In fact there was no punch being thrown at him which made Joe pause in his own action and half frown, half scowl at the Gryffindor boy instead.
Surprisingly the blond boy seemed to rather have his temper under control as of now.
Perhaps he was channeling all of his brain capacity into his rather creative insults.
"What did you just call me?!", Joe growled.
"Look who's talking: Ben Dover, the peevish dog-hearted pantaloon!"
Joe stood back, still expecting a punch for his bold words, yet not exactly backing down either. He would not let Ben get out of this with the upper hand!
Avery was in a foul mood. Well, more than usual. It had been a few days since she'd really been that livid again, but there it was. Good things rarely lasted long.
She ignored people yelling at her rudeness as she shoved her way through the crowd, headed to the Great Hall. Those who knew of her reputation needed to only see her glare and bloodied lip to know to get out of her way, whereas the others suffered a yell or shove from her when they didn't move fast enough. If only she'd arrived when things were less busy.
'Move, midgets,' she snapped at the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw boys that were in the doorway. They had conflict of there own but she ignored that or else would be tempted to fight some more. 'Move it or lose it.' Too angry to wait for them to respond, she made a motion to either shove them both out of the way as she went or to avoid them entirely. Depended how good their reflexes were. Avery wasn't in any sort of mood to deal with first years. Or anyone else, for that matter.
'Don't talk to me,' she growled at anyone nearby as she arrived at the Slytherin table. Avery sat somewhere near Lindsey, though had enough sense to put some distance between herself and Seabrook just in case. She angrily rubbed at her lip, glaring that it was still a bit damp with blood. The boy deserved it, but it still stung.
She wasn't hungry, yet forced herself to put something on her plate. She rubbed her arm, dreading to check the bruise there later. Avery lashed out and got into a lot of fights, but there was a thrill in it as well. She didn't understand it, and hated herself for it, but conflict helped her stay sane sometimes.
