"Nice one, Ruby!" Grace said, falling over and onto her back. She stood up on her own. "If you want, we could go again?" she turned to look at Ryan, "Do you want to join us?" she said, trying to be nice with everybody.

Ryan clapped for Ruby when she won. He was startled to be asked to join in, though supposed that was part of his intention in being there. It was nerve-wrecking though. He'd never been in a duel before, and was worried he'd be bad at it.
'Er, sure?' He stood, approaching the girls. Ryan considered the rules, how they were supposed to duel members of different houses. When Gerald arrived, there would be two Ravenclaws - Gerald and Grace and had already duelled yesterday from what he'd been told. A bit of variety might be fun.
'How about I duel Grace?' Ryan suggested, since duels had to be one-on-one and it just made sense. 'Then Ruby can duel Gerald?' He got out his wand, hoping to start soon before he lost his nerve.
Rubes parked herself on a bench. She was pleased to see that Ryan wanted to join in. Perhaps Gerald, wherever he was, might come and join in, too.
She noticed Ryan looked rather nervous. Obviously, it was his first time duelling. "Try not tolook so nervous,Ryan. Just thinkofitaspracticingallthespellsyou're familiar withand getting betterat performing them.Duelling is fun."
Finally entering the room, he waved at the trio. Having watched oiutside, Gerald noted that it had seemed less chaotic now that he had actually spectated one. It actually seemed like a game of dodgeball than anything.
Maybe he should have said something so the others new he was here, but he was content as he sat down. "It's not that scary, it's just revision really."

Grace grinned. "Alright, Ryan, let's do this!" she was happy, mostly because it meant that she got to become better. The four of them could be like a little club, it would be nice. She tapped her wand against her leg, did a little shimmy in order to 'warm up' and said, "You can go first, Ryan."

Ryan frowned at Ruby telling him not to look nervous, which he didn't think he had any control over, but her advice about about practicing spells was helpful. He nodded, trying to relax his shoulders as he headed into the dueling area where Grace was.
He raised his wand, fidgeting as he prepared himself. He faced Grace, giving a polite bow first as he'd heard they were supposed to do. Probably. Grace, Ruby, and Gerald had all duelled before so he had to do this. Ryan couldn't be the only one who hadn't. And besides, if they could do it than he could too right?
'Okay, I'm ready.' Ryan aimed his wand at Grace, then cast a spell. Once he started, it was less scary and he was excited to be using magic in a very practical way.

Grace was still pretty cheerful, regardless of the losses she was taking in these duels. She could still come from behind in this one, she knew it, and it wasn't long before she had decided to cast a spell at Ryan, with a quick flick of her wand and a muttered incantation.

Ryan's confidence grew as the duel progressed. It was actually rather fun, and easier than he thought it would be. He corrected his foot stance, having gotten a surprise when his defensive spell failed. He wasn't discouraged though.
He gripped his wand, keeping his aim steady, and cast another offensive spell. Ryan heard Ruby giving encouragement, boosting his confidence. Had he finally found something he wasn't terrible at? He hoped so. He and Grace were rather evenly balanced for now, but even if Ryan lost he was still glad to be there and improving his skills.
Ryan cast an offensive spell (score: 1), but Grace's defensive spell (score: 5) overpowers it. Ryan - free-rp the outcome of your choice. Grace wins the round and then the match.

Ryan gasped as his spell rebounded, making his feet dance uncontrollably for a few minutes. He was lucky not to have fallen over, but was so glad when it wore off. He sat on the nearest bench, disappointed he'd lost but happy for Grace. He clapped for her and grinned, so she knew it too.
Now it was Ruby and Gerald's turn, though Gerald hadn't actually agreed to it yet. Ryan waited to hear if his friend was going to duel Ruby, or if someone else would. He was fine just sitting it out while he recovered or someone picked him. Maybe he could duel Ruby after? He'd have to see how it all went.
Clapping politely, Rubes looked over at Ryan. "Don'tbetoodisappointed,Ryan, youdid reallywell.Maybeyou'llwinnexttime."
Rubes was pleased that Ryan had taken a stab at duelling. She got to her feet, ready to participate in another duel. "You want to have a go at duelling, Gerald?"
