I miss you! Things are going well at school, I've even managed to make a few more friends! How are you? How is Mama? Ringwald? I miss the whole family terribly!
I have a question for you and, while I apologize that the letter is short, it's Quidditch day! The Gryffindor team isn't complete and I was wondering if you would mind my joining the team?
I'd love to try out and if I didn't make it that would be fine, too but I would really like to try!
I look forward to hearing from you. I love you!
Your Daughter,
Kamari
It was wonderful to hear from you, especially when you took the time out of a Quidditch day to write home.
Everyone's doing well, though Ringwald was in a no-treats time out yesterday for having stolen your Mama's favourite scarf.
We've already sold out five of our new toy stocks, so we've been busy making more and getting those distributed. Thankfully, no one seems to realise or mind that the new balloons are made of a material non-harmful to the environment. They will disintegrate if deflated / popped; another of your Mama's genius ideas.
I'm pleased to hear you're making friends. We'd love to hear more about them. I trust they are treating you well?
As for trying out for Quidditch, we don't see why not? If this is something you'd like to do, and it won't negatively impact your studies or mental well-being, then you have our full support. Unfortunately, work prevents us from being able to attend matches as often as we'd like -- but if you make it onto the team, please let us know. We will, of course, also purchase a broomstick of your choosing, should you then need one.
All those training broomsticks you tested out growing up would surely pay off now, huh? In fact, we might have you test out some more now you'll be getting a feel for an real broomstick.
You know the drill; stay on the train until most have left, be alert on the platform, and find us quickly as possible. Mama will be the one collecting you; look for the three bodyguards in violet robes.
Make sure Alora's prepared as well. We expect both of you home these holidays.
To help make things easier, we've sent a far more efficient travel bag than lugging your trunk around, since there's barely anything to bring home. They're personally made by an esteemed merchant on the magical Coast of England. It's a traditional process, and very costly. Please treat them well, but they're yours to keep.
If you have any difficulty with the public between the Front Gates and Hogsmeade Station, look for a bodyguard in violet. She's there to keep an eye out, just in case. We've been in the Daily Prophet more than usual lately, and a few reporters are pushing for comments. Stay attentive, and stick to your sister at all times.
See you soon.
P.S we've not heard anything from you regarding the Founder's Ball. Choosing a date is a complicated matter, but it's okay to go with friends. Unfortunately, it's too late notice to get something to a tailor in time.
It's not like you to forget or leave things to the last minute, so we're under the impression you don't wish to go. It's a shame, but there's always next year!
From: Papa
Included with the letter were two stylish satchels, each bearing either Kamari or Alora's first name. It was finished with a little sage leaf; their Papa's sense of humour, no doubt.
Dearest Papa,
I apologize for my failure to write. There is no excuse for it aside from my getting into potions kits and trying my best to make more friends aside from my dorm mates. They're amazing, absolutely, but I am so excited to be able to call others from different houses my friends, too.
I received your letter at breakfast and had Alora read it to make sure that she was refreshed on the plan. She remembers and we will abide by the plan without deviation. I can't tell you how excited I am to see the family tomorrow. I've missed you all terribly and would love nothing more than to talk about what's happened with Quidditch and the Team and everything in person.
I know you said that I could join the team but I wanted to offer details face to face because, honestly, I think it's better that way. (Kamari doodles a little smiley face here)
As for the Founder's Ball I hadn't thought about it. I don't have many friends to go with that weren't already going with someone else but this morning I was asked to go by a new acquaintance. I'd love to attend but I am aware that my poor time management, decision making, lack of writing and planning would be the reason I couldn't attend this year.
I understand that there's little time and that getting something tailored properly is impossible but if there's any chance at all of getting a set of dress robes I'd be grateful. I understand if it cannot be done but... without asking the answer is always no. I do, regardless of the answer, agree to be better with writing in the future.
The bags you sent were beautiful! Thank you very much for sending them. I will be packing away what I need tonight and helping Alora get her things together in the morning so that getting to the train is more efficient. I will keep an eye out for the body guard as you instructed. I can't wait to hear about the Fundraiser Ball and would like to speak with you tomorrow evening about an idea I had if at all possible that is on the same note.
I love you, miss you, and am eagerly anticipating coming home to you, Mama, Aunt Taraji and Ringwald!
I know we just got back to Hogwarts and it's been a fun time here so far! I've managed to get most of my potions kit finished so I can improve skills there. I should be able to finish that up today!
I have been thinking a lot while I'm working, you know, and while doing so I found that I would like to study Magical Creatures at the Academy. It isn't grand or opulent but I feel like it could be something that I'm good at. Not only that but I would be able to learn a great deal about the toys that we make featuring those said creatures.
Their anatomy and how they move - something more than just observation.
Plus I like the company of magical creatures. They don't care where someone comes from or what they do in their lives... only that you are there and, for those that require care, that they're being cared for.
On another note, I've put some thought into the broom choices that we were asked to make. I only have the remainder of the year to play so I can't reason with the expense of an overly expensive broom... so I think I'd like to go with the Moonclaw. It isn't equipped with an anti-jinx guard but it does repel water which could be handy.
I am sorry I didn't make a choice sooner. It felt as though these are important choices and I don't want to step wrong. I know mistakes are meant to be made but I want to do the best I can.

Important Moments
Year One
- Sorted into Gryffindor (against all other expectations after asking the hat to place her there.)
Year Two
may be added
Year Three
- Sister Alora Sagemore sorted into Gryffindor! Kamari was so proud and glad to be able to see her far more often than she would have been otherwise able to.
Year Four
- (#5) Decided that she was going to ask for permission to join the Quidditch team. - (#5) Met Silvana officially and got the idea to start a toy drive for the Christmas season.
- (#6) Enjoyed the Niffler Pit - (#6) Started Potions Kit
- (#7) Met William Doren and figured out he was the bravest Slytherin ever for battling a bush of Nettles.
- (#8) Did the flying refresher with a time of 2:07:50 and finished in 7th place - (#8) Met Joshua Twiggs and Amber Lloyd after the flying refresher because she liked Amber's earrings and wants to buy some for gifts. - (#8) Went to the Dragon Frog Hopsticle Course and made a dragon toad friend she named Jaskier who was dreadfully impatient but a lot of fun. - (#8) Spent the evening with Alora in the common room watching her do a new card trick.
- (#9) Went home in the morning and saw 3 body guards with Mama. Paid attention to Papa's instructions for getting off the train. - (#9) Helped Mama make sandwiches. Aunt Taraji threw a mug at the door because of supply issues & paperwork - (#9) Told to gather Papa and Alora to go to Hong Kong. Told Aunt Taraji she wanted to learn the hexes she'd invent (joking) - (#9) Papa trusted Kamari to draw the circle for Dust Travel for their trip to Hong Kong. Major trust. Super proud.
- (#10) Spoke to Papa and Mama during breakfast about the Toy drive idea she'd had. Papa approved and said she and Alora Sagemore would need to come up with a speech for the banquet they'd be attending. - (#10) Went to see the Ice Dragon after breakfast. - (#10) Alora Sagemore and Kamari wrote their speech for the Gala. Donated toys to children in an Orphanage in Romania. There was a little boy that followed them in the shadows and a little girl that gave Kamari a drawing of an angry Lynx. Kamari promised to keep it forever and will have to ask Papa how best to preserve it. It's special to her. - (#10) Got to Paris via apparation and dust travel. Met up with Monsieur Soulard who gave them snacks before they were shown to their room. The tent would be set up in said room as it was large enough. Presented with a beautiful set of dress robes "from a local magical designer. Alora and Kamari had different styles, but both teal with some black. They were done in the style of African dresses, with an expensive flair that would surely have them stand out. Taraji would be wearing blue, while Irene and Zareb had shades of green." - (#10) Finished helping wrap and everything before getting ready - Kamari wore the earrings she'd bought from Joshua Twiggs . - (#10) Answered questions at the Gala entrance. Many photos. Saw Tammy Doyle and was comforted by her. The whole thing was boring until Alora and I made our speech and it was, thankfully, over quickly after that.
- (#11) Christmas gifts: nice new clothes, some books on various interests, and a bracelet each made from with snowflake charms to remember their trip. Especially the visit to Hong Kong, without giving anything away. - (#11) Talked to Aunt Taraji about which career path she'd want to go into. No choice made, would have to make a choice later. - (#11) Asked for a broom, learned that she can only play until the end of the year. Very sad about it because it was her chosen pastime. "no time for distractions." - (#11) Papa signed permission slip for Hogsmeade with parameters: never go alone, trust no one, go to the three broomsticks if anything happens. One mistake and it was revoked. - (#11) Sat with Alora Sagemore on the train and was walked in on by Tobias Twiggs and she remained silent, watching as Alora handled herself. She has to learn these things, after all. - (#11) Got back to Hogwarts and set off to mail letter to Papa. Ended up choosing her broom and her academy direction - Magical Creatures. - (#11) Visited Hagrid for a Flower Pot but ended up asking if he could answer questions about creatures and she could visit with Fang instead. - (#11) Got a letter from Aunt Taraji and burned it as instructed. The heads up was nice. - (#11) Asked Hagrid what was in the lake. 'Merefolk. Giant Squid. Nasty Grindylows'. But Hagrid said he wasn't the best to talk to. Made a plan to, eventually, talk to Professor Fairburn.
- (#12) Breakfast announcement that she and Alora Sagemore had won the Kindness Award for their work during Christmas. - (#12) Saw Aunt Taraji and wore the WHITE SHIRT! Had interview after Alora Sagemore 's. Probably was a mess. - (#12) Attended Transfiguration where they turned rats into goblets. 0/10 do not recommend. - (#12) Dueled Pierce Twiggs a few times. (Won 2, Lost 1) - (#12) Collected plants with Pierce Twiggs . He saw her freak out. Oh no. - (#12) Provided her completed Potions Kit to Professor Snape with Pierce. - (#12) Attended Herbology where she was saved by Kody Ashworth from a biting plant! Pierce Twiggs got bit, too. Kamari offered him a glove even tho he was wearing one but... doubling up. At least she finished the task, right? - (#12) Entered into a skill room. IT WAS PLANTS. Got bit by said plant and lost to the skill room. - (#12) Collected red spider eggs by stacking rocks. - (#12) Met up with Alora Sagemore and got some wintercress and frogspawn. Alora had to go change afterward because she was covered in lake muck. - (#12) Met back up with Alora Sagemore and looked for insect wings. Fought three big bugs and got bit on the arm in the process. Alora got bit on the back which was already wounded from the Whomping Willow the day before. Alora had to stay over night in the Hospital wing once they'd gone in to get healed.
- (#13) In the paper that morning with her interview from the day before. - (#13) Sat with Kody Ashworth in DADA, did NOT like the lesson (remain vague) but volunteered to be the first to go against the not creature creature - (#13) Made a potions goal and began to collect ingredients with a method.
"Her Mama had mentioned something called a "Hatstall", but in such a passing way that it seemed rare or extremely unlikely. It was a footnote in those stories of Hogwarts, at best. But the longer Kamari sat there, she knew."
"She was well-understood in the different houses, as her Mama had showed her Hogwarts: A History, and thus explained each house in detail -- without prejudice."
"With her hair, the hat sat rather well atop her head -- compared to many classmates, whose faces vanished underneath the dark flap. She still had somewhat of a view of the hall, which surely added to the nerves as everyone started at her. Waiting for the result. Whispering about her name or speculating her house. Their focus, entirely on her. Even the staff, too."
"The Niffler was easily recognised -- especially for Kamari, as she had the fortune (and misfortune, given the headache their care was), of helping raise three baby Nifflers when she was eight, and Alora was six. She couldn't remember why, or where they came from, and it was only for a few weeks -- but their cuteness was as memorable as the mess they also made if unsupervised.
The second creature was a Winter Hummingbird, which was the most accurately detailed of the three drawings. She'd only seen a few from a distance one dry fall afternoon when setting up camp in a forest. Her Mama said they were so named because of the way they spend months preparing their nest for winter."
" Irene led them into the yard and through the wards towards Aunt Taraji's cottage.
It was cold and there was a bit of snow in the air, but the grounds itself were a nice break from the stark white they were used to at Hogwarts and around London. The climate was a bit different at the Hollow, for whatever reason. It was a rare sight to be blanketed with snow, and this year didn't include it yet again."
Black Chalk. Dust Travel was extraordinarily rare, but was essentially a global passport. The Sagemores perfected the method and created their own dust (even patenting its chalk form), which enabled them to freely travel anywhere in the world they needed. It had the bonus of being far more pleasant than Apparition or Portkeys, though a Sagemore's upbringing included regular exposure to many forms of magical transport to ensure they adapt to any situation or in case of emergency.
The circle had to be as neat as possible, and with enough space around them to not have anything crossing the line or getting too close. Yet not too big that there was a lot of empty space. The destination had to be written very clearly, similar to Floo Powder -- but with worse consequences.
Kamari and Alora knew the story well -- of a Great-Uncle several generations back who accidentally dropped himself, and two sacks of water-activated fizzy-bangs, into the middle of an ocean.
Hagrid warmly greeted the Gryffindor, having never once (not even for a second) treated a Sagemore differently than any other student he met. He did, however, assume she was there for a purpose and not simply for a cuppa. Sagemores did fall into that group of kids who always seemed to have important matters to attend to.
He hadn't seen Kamari too often over the years, but he was quite familiar with Alora -- having had to rescue the poor girl at the start of her 1st year, as Alora had tripped on her way into the boat. He'd caught her before she could nosedive into the inky cold water of the lake.
"Even to Sagemores, who had had a magical childhood so privileged that they had seen a few dragons before. From an extremely safe distance, of course. Nothing like this -- free flying overhead, and such an unusual breed"
Thee Sagemores had, in fact, visited Japan in the past. A few times, actually. There was a lot of magical history there, and some rather interesting worksites. There were a lot of festivals too, which Alora and Kamari were given permission to wear traditional robes for one of them. It was about all they could remember; the lights, the Japanese music, and colourful clothes.
The visit in particular that came to mind for Alora Sagemore was quite a while ago so it wasn't very clear. And they visited a lot of places, so things were bound to get a bit muddled over time. It was something about a Museum of Preserved Magical History. Her papa received a gorgeous (and massive) dragon scale as a gift from... someone?
Her papa, who usually handled things with confidence yet respect -- that day, he'd almost been afraid to touch it, as if it was that priceless and special. She had no idea where it was now, but it was a memorable part of that trip because right afterwards, they'd gone on a picnic under some cherry blossoms. A simple afternoon, but a treasured one.
Though the name Dragon Toad sounded somewhat familiar, there was nothing else that came to mind for Alora Sagemore -- she certainly hadn't seen these in person before, or knew much about them until today. Not as far as she could remember, anyway.
This was a brand new experience for a young Sagemore.
But they'd also learned there were rare exceptions; if an idea got shot down, it might get a second chance if you can prove it'll work. Unfortunately, the young heirs didn't quite have the skills or experience for that yet.
Only Alora had ever managed it, at the tender age of five, when she'd envisioned a blanket that changed its pattern and colour everyday. They'd said it wouldn't work, because it would be too easily confused with other blankets or get lost. And a bunch of other reasons. So began her month-long mission to swap out their blankets, pillow cases, and bath towels as often as she could.
With Kamari, her co-conspirator, of course. Both girls made a point of saying how lovely it was that a blue towel with fish was now red with lizards. It drove Zareb and Tarji crazy, especially as it felt like nothing was ever given the chance to get used or not knowing what was clean -- but Irene was won over, and they settled on the idea of not using whole blankets but something small and most children would likely only have one of.
The Sagemores had indeed been to Japan, though it had been quite a few years so the details were rather unclear. Their experience was probably similar to the Twiggs family, though over a longer period of time and without the need of a guide.
They certainly remembered some rather nice traditional robes, which they were rather familiar with now from many different cultural travels. And something about a Caretaker of a Sacred Mountain? Kamari recalled some rather bitter tea? No actual dragons, though -- unless one counted that dragon scale gifted to their Papa in the Museum of Preserved Magical History.
Random Learnings from Letters:

Learned via Family Posts: Note: This will include direct quotes and links. Toys, dragons, family knowledge all gleaned while in family threads through Christmas and Summertime activities.
○ Kamari and Alora had barely set feet down on the grass just beyond their family wards, when Irene swept them up into a warm and soothing hug. Her hugs were always the best -- as if nothing in the world could touch them there, and everything would always be okay.
○ It was cold and there was a bit of snow in the air, but the grounds itself were a nice break from the stark white they were used to at Hogwarts and around London. The climate was a bit different at the Hollow, for whatever reason. It was a rare sight to be blanketed with snow, and this year didn't include it yet again.
○ It wasn't strange that Papa and Aunt Taraji didn't come greet them, as they would surely be spending a lot of time together as family these entire holidays anyway. Some space wasn't a bad thing, especially when it was the busiest time of year for a Sagemore. It was perfectly normal for them.
○ That was a bit of an unspoken thing at the Sagemore cottage, unlike when they were off elsewhere; never, during a slow moment, ask about the plans. Doing so almost always tempted fate. The last time this happened was over the summer. Irene was bored and asked if anyone had plans... not five minutes later, an enchanted fishbowl's spell backfired and flooded the workshed.
No one was even in there at the time, though Kamari still swore she'd seen Ringwald fleeing the scene.
○ One of the benefits (in their opinion) in being toymakers is that no one ever really outgrew that young child stage of imagine play. Sagemores were a playful lot, though it had taken Zareb a long time to remember that. Irene was a blessing to them all.
○ Only Alora had ever managed it, at the tender age of five, when she'd envisioned a blanket that changed its pattern and colour everyday.
The idea evolved from the concept, but Alora had won.
○ Dust Travel was extraordinarily rare, but was essentially a global passport.
Not that she had such pressure now, as the circle and the writing didn't do anything on its own; it required use of a wand; her parents would surely check everything over before anything were to happen. But this was a big moment, regardless. It was a sign of her growing up, to the point that her training as a Sagemore Heir was becoming more focused and no longer just about learning things -- but also doing them.
It meant they believed she had a solid enough foundation now, and was old enough to gradually become more hands on. Kamari knew the basics -- now it was time to be tested on them, and to be entrusted with new tasks. She knew that also meant there could be consequences depending on her actions or words, and that meant failing or making mistakes would also be her own mess to clean up. With their guidance, if necessary, but this was it.
This was the point every Sagemore waited for.
○ Last summer they had a bit of an experiment with a thing called a lightbulb. Aunt Taraji explained it was what Muggles used to light things, rather than relying on wands or candles / lanterns. They worked by something called electricity, which was a type of energy that Muggles harnessed in the place of magic.
It was all still quite beyond them and very confusing, but had made for a fun experiment... despite them using magic rather than electricity to show how it worked. And that would explain why it then exploded and issued a lot of smoke. They'd anticipated it though, so there was already a protection spell around it. Not one was hurt just got a mighty big fright -- which even Ringwald survived, despite his shriek and falling from the counter.
But Alora and Kamari were fortunate in their upbringing, to have seen more Muggle electronics than most magical folk.
○ Near the entrance to the mine was a huge, pale dragon. Its appearance was about what one might picture when hearing it breathed ice. As if the frosty (not snow) ground around it wasn't clue enough. It bellowed at anyone who got within a certain range of it, puffing cold air from its nostrils in warning.
Zareb sighed in exasperation at the sight. While their parents were clearly far more used to such a predicament, this was only Alora's third dragon (not counting the one that flew over Hogwarts). It was Kamari's fifth. Most of those were from a distance or the dragons were more contained. The memories were a big vague, mostly wrapped in awe and a sense of it being more of a dream than reality.
Apart from Kamari's vivid memory of her third dragon when she was nine, which was a juvenile spikey thing that thrashed a muddy village it had been set loose on. Its tail hit a basket of cabbages, which had flung at her and smashed directly above her against the hut wall she was backed against. A close call, and why she hadn't seen much of if for the rest of the trip since then.
Strangely, she couldn't remember why she was out there alone in the first place. She'd been safe enough away from the dragon itself, but close enough that fling debris could reach her. Kamari just remembered that her Aunt had found her in time, and they rushed back to the group on the other side of the village. Alora and Irene hadn't been on that trip. The rest was hazy at best.
But there was no mistaking the dragon they saw now. The best view they'd ever had of one, though perhaps too good a view -- as there were clear scars on its legs and neck, as well as a croak to its roar as if its voice was strained. Nothing seemed fresh, but the dragon was clearly on guard. And it simply refused to budge from the entrance to the mine.
○ Meals were unpredictable when travelling; sometimes they had local dishes or used local ingredients, and other times (like today) they just made whatever they felt like having. This breakfast was a rather typical Sagemore meal -- with Zarebs favourite chicken and onions, and Irene's favourite pastries. There were also goblets of thick, frothy milk to enjoy.
○ When it came to things like this, while of course Alora and Kamari were less experienced and still young, their family never treated them like kids when it came to sharing their thoughts and ideas. They never just humoured them; they always listened, and took it seriously.
○ They'd done a couple interviews over the years, but usually only a question or two about their opinion or something generic -- new toys, what sort of things they'd like to influence the business for when they grow up, and what it's like being in the public eye. Nothing as personal as their own project -- where they were the main focus, not their parents.
○ Dragon Breed: Classified
Sagmores were brought up with this knowledge. A classified dragon breed means that its genealogy has odd indicators or its origins are under investigation. Quite common for dragons from illegal breeders, rescued during various nefarious cases, or found in places outside of their usual territory / flight pattern.
Essentially an unknown dragon in unauthorized circumstances or of suspicious origin. During the period it is marked as classified, speculation or discussion of its breed / where it came from is considered disruptive to the process. Or generally disrespectful of a Tamer's work.
○ Colour-Changing Blocks were one of the most familiar Sagemore products, with both kids having played with them growing up -- and saw them everywhere in stock lists or on shelves. It was one of the oldest products, but still very popular. Timeless, flexible, and a nice balance of practical fun.
Perhaps so loved because of the simple design, yet with beautiful magic; when a block was successfully stacked, all its blocks changed colour. If they're knocked over, they become a rainbow mess that toddlers in particular enjoyed. Those blocks reminded both kids of fond memories growing up in the warmth and safety of their family, no matter where in the world they were.
Of little Kamari poking her tongue out, intensely focused on carefully placing blocks onto a tower almost taller than herself. It was as though the fate of the world depended on her careful precision and architectural ambitions. There were even a few photos stashed away somewhere, of her grander designs that survived to completion.
And of tiny Alora, who was her polar opposite -- giggling as she speedily finished stacking a wall of blocks, for the satisfying desire to charge into them like a Muggle monster destroying a city. The noise of toppled blocks scattering on the floor was embedded in her family's memories.
○ The Monkey See, Monkey Speak toy. Though they were more commonly referred to as the Monkey Sees.
It responded to gestures or expressions, and a few words. Such as if a child waved, it said hello or goodbye. If a child said their name, it said it was nice to meet them. If the child was sad, it would ask for a hug. And there was the bonus spell of if the child said goodnight, the monkey's eyes would glow as night lights.
Those were rather exclusive products, as Sagemores sold toys worldwide; there existed an endless variety of languages. It had to be specially enchanted on a client-basis, and with the assistance of a translator -- for languages the adults weren't as familiar with, despite their impressive list of fluency. The blue Monkey See was the rarest, with its expanded vocabulary and being capable of more than one language.
Five-year-old Alora held a grudge against the the Monkey Sees. Taraji gave her youngest niece a curious glance, wondering if that grudge persevered -- even as it had been at least two years since Alora had seen one.
For some reason, despite many improvements made of the years, Alora could never successfully get one to say hello or goodbye to her, no matter how she waved. Then if Kamari tried (as they only respond to children), it immediately said hello. It baffled the Sagemores to no end, as none of the spells were faulty.
○ Twist Puzzles from the bag, having known exactly what Kamari was referring to. They had a range of difficulties, and countless solutions. Kamari had a whole variety to choose from, though Taraji encouraged only picking a few.
These were easily forgotten in a list of more colourful or magical toys, even when painted to a theme, but there was special a Sagemore fondness for the Twist Puzzles. And a lot of history. There was one for every generation of Sagemores who became heirs. Taraji and Zareb made one when they took the lead, which had a cosmic theme. One day, Alora and Kamari would design their own to be added to the pile.
Yet even with some of their earliest memories being watching these be made, using a complicated bamboo and magic weaving process -- they were still yet to fully learn which Twist Puzzle was made by who. It was not something they were outright told; it was simply part of the process of growing up, and they'll learn them all in time.
It was one of the tests they'd have to pass as an heir.
○ Home Mat. Both Alora and Kamari had one in their tent bedrooms. It was a soft rug that changed temperature when needed -- warming on a cold day / cooling when it's hot. It was impossibly soft, being made from the wool of an Ewol. That meant it couldn't be enchanted; all the magical properties were from the wool itself, and the way it was weaved.
It was a reoccurring childhood memory for Sagemores to spend some time at an Ewol farm. Those large, magical sheep (similar to their Muggle counterparts, the Valais Blacknose) were a lively bunch, which the kids learned to help out with caring for them and brushing that impossible wool. It was so soft it almost felt like a cloud or silky liquid. They hadn't yet seen the farms in action with shearing them or herding -- but were promised that one day they'd be old enough to give that a try too.
Apparently, the shearing required very precise and trained actions -- and the herding was a nightmare all in itself that the farmers claimed could cause madness. It was unclear if they meant in a literal or emotional sense, but all adult Sagmores wore an expression of utter disdain at the mere thought of herding Ewol.
More than once, Alora and Kamari were under the impression that the Ewol looked rather proud of themselves for being the bouncing troublemakers they were.
And yet, their wool was highly valuable. The Home Mats were a rarer product, but one of the few the Sagemores didn't make themselves -- there was a partnership contract with the prestigious farm they often visited in Switzerland. It took twenty years to master the traditional magical art of Ewol wool weaving. Taraji had about two years experience, needed just to handle and sell such products.
○ France was a familiar place. The dingy little pub was run by a funny bar owner who always welcomed the kids with free palmiers. He was no stranger; referred to only as Monsieur Soulard, having forgotten his real name during a rough childhood and some memory loss from misadventures, he'd known the Sagemores for decades. It was hard not to, though the kids didn't really know what that meant.
○ A term of endearment for Alora and Kamari, spoken in French (mon petit lapins "my little rabbits" was basically a name to them now). Luckily, French was something they knew enough of to keep up with him, as Monsieur Soulard had a habit of mixing English and French.
○ The Christmas Gala was a fundraising and networking event, held in Paris and hosted by a noble family. It was a showy, international event that basically swarmed with reporters. It was one of the places where the Sagemore public mask had to be meticulously upheld.

• It was once said that a Sagemore could be a truly destructive and unstoppable force, if not for their ingrained and authentic goodness. It sends a chill down one's spine when a Sagemore themself agrees.

There was quite a bit that happened today. I'm not sure if I can get all of the details together in a coherent way but I can try! It was yet another day spent mostly alone - classes and such were easily out of the way. I made a sort of friend Kody Ashworth who is one of my classmates.
I guess I'm not the most... great at stepping out and speaking to people but we worked together in Charms, did a fantastic job in winning the keys that the professor offered for winning. I couldn't believe it! He was energetic and fun and, I have to say, seemed like he'd be an amazing friend in the future. If I can get over my nervousness to talk to him more.
I didn't do a good job at coming up with ways to meet people but... I did send a letter to Papa asking him if I could join the Quidditch team. When there I met a girl named Sylvana. She's an older Gryffindor who had some really neat ideas! I liked her a lot and, if I'm being honest, feel like she's pretty genuine.
She didn't stare at me or make me feel strange for existing like sometimes happens. She'd be an amazing friend if I were older but... she's older than me and probably has her own stuff going on. To be fair, however, she did let me help her hang some posters she'd made which gave me ideas.
There were boys that were rude to her. I wanted to do something, say something! Heck, maybe even sling a curse at them... but I couldn't. I want to be braver. But caution is important when it comes to being a part of the world outside of home.
I have to behave myself, be proper. I can't give a bad name and just... cursing someone? Yeah, that can't happen. It's frustrating. Anyway! Her posters were about littering and the art was AMAZING! I wish I could shrink one down and put it in here because, honestly, if I could draw like her I'd be content.
I had an idea from something she said about owl pellets. Sometimes people can't afford good things. Which, I guess, is true. I haven't had to worry about those things, not really... but maybe I can convince Papa to do a toy drive! I still need to write him about that tomorrow and see what he says. Maybe we can do it.
I think I should talk to Alora Sagemore about helping me pitch it, writing the letter with her! If we both think it through I'm sure the results will be magical!
Anywho. It's been a long day of bullies, ideas, Nifflers, and letters so I will call it a night.

Today was... interesting, to say the least. It was so insanely busy I felt like I couldn't do anything or get anything done at all! There was a Quidditch match, which maybe I should have been at considering Alora was there but I chose not to go. I had approached Professor Snape about a Potions kit so I was hoping that I could get some of the ingredients to prove myself to him and acquire entrance into the student laboratories.
But that didn't seem to be the case. Instead, I fully prepared myself to go to the grounds to find some bugs and stuff and yet I found something else! Or should I say someone else. There was an older student looking for nettles. Can you imagine? Someone that's willingly searching for a plant that stings and cuts? I couldn't until I saw it.
And let me say it was an absolute thrill to watch him! He just walked into the nettles like they didn't bother him in the slightest! He waded through the bushes and then came out fine! It was crazy! But Mr. William Doren handled it with a grace that I'm quite envious of. He didn't scream or shout or scratch, instead, allowed me to come with him to the hospital wing.
Where I sat with him.
He told me it hurt which... I can imagine! I would never willingly do that! He is cool! A Slytherin, sure, but he's well spoken and respectful - even got the door for me when we left the hospital wing. I can imagine being friends with him. In fact, he didn't stare or act... strange when I said my name which I like, too. I enjoy being treated like everyone else. It helps with moral if I do say so myself.
Yes, yes, I get it. I am Kamari Sagemore. My father is the creative, intelligent, amazing Zareb Sagemore! I'm proud of who I am and where I come from but, at the same time, sometimes I want to feel like a normal person so when people are like that it makes me feel a little more... regular, I suppose is the word.
I don't know what to do about all these feelings. No one would really understand if I spoke about them and I could imagine it being... annoying, you know? To go to someone and say 'I just want to be average for one day!' I'd get strange looks, for sure.
Oh well. It's time for sleep. Hopefully I can make friends with Mr. Doren and learn a bit more about that interesting personality of his - especially considering he doesn't much care for plants, either.

I messed up. I forgot something important and it's my own fault. I forgot to write Papa about the Founder's Ball and, while he wrote me this morning to remind me of how we are to conduct ourselves coming home. I remember, yes, it's hard to forget.
Every time we go home it's a special layer of hades and we get to watch all the cameras and reporters and we have to pretend to be calm.
I'm used to it at this point. But I do worry about Alora a lot. I hate that she has to go through all of that. I mean, to be fair, I dislike it, too but it's all a part of who we are, right?
Today was eventful. It was a great lead up to Christmas, I have to admit! There was a Hogsmeade trip but I've yet to even ask to go. In fact, I am nervous about it. The last thing I want is to have my friends need to be escorted by a body guard, you know?
I don't even know if Papa would let me go: I have never asked. But! Because I didn't go to Hogsmeade I was able to do other things!
There was a flying refresher done today. I did it with Alora and finished in seventh place with a time of 2:07:50. It wasn't the best time but it wasn't the worst, either. I'm glad to say that I wasn't last. That went to a Hufflepuff but poor guy seemed alright with it, at least.
While there I met a Ravenclaw named Amber Lloyd who wore some beautiful earrings. I asked where she got them and she introduced me to her Hufflepuff friend Joshua Twiggs who will bring his jewelry on the train tomorrow. I look forward to it.
I swear I will get everything that I can so that Mama, Aunt Taraji, and Alora Sagemore can have something cool for Christmas. I can't go to Hogsmeade but I can still get them something! I've been saving for gifts anyway and I think they'd love them because they're hand made and unique. I know that's why I like them so much.
After meeting them, I went and got to see a Dragon Toad! AND ride it!
I named him Jaskier and he was... energetic to say the least but I had a good time - even if we ended up in a freezing pond! I can't tell you how much joy it brings me to get to spend time with magical creatures like that.
I can't wait to tell Papa all about it.
I'd be lying if I said I didn't sulk most of the night. It was childish of me, I'm afraid but after William Doren asked me to the ball I really wanted to go. I bet he and Kody Ashworth looked amazing in their dress robes. And I missed it. I hadn't wanted to go until William asked me but... ugh. What's wrong with me?
Alora made it better, I have to say.
She showed me a cool trick she figured out with cards and she even had a cute story that went with it about four Hogwarts girls that were lost in the forest. I have to admit that it was creative. Then again, my sister is amazing.
I have everything packed and will be heading to bed here in a little bit - the morning comes with a train ride so I have to be alert and ready to go.

(#9) December, Christmas Eve
I was nervous when I woke up. Not because I was going home but because I knew that there were things I wanted and needed to talk to Papa about. And part of me worried if I'd get to it or not.
But the first thing I had to do was get Alora Sagemore onto and off of the train without incident. So, following the instructions that I already knew, I was able to do that. The train ride was fine, really. Quiet mostly. But I was able to get Alora off and to Mama and the body guards without any real issue.
I wish we didn't have to do that. When I'm older I want to learn to get myself and Alora home without the reporters. I'm sure there's apparation classes I can attend soon so that I don't have to go all the way to the train. Or... you know... figure out how to do it without worrying about the endless stream of people that want a look.
I already miss my friends.
I got distracted. So! We made it to Mama and got home where I was able to help her to make sandwiches. We started the talk about William Doren and Kody Ashworth but... I chickened out. How do I talk about silly things like boys when I have so little time at home? So, I dropped it.
During the time we were home I only saw Aunt Taraji once. She's so busy. But she was cursing and such and, honestly, it was amusing! I wish I could learn some of the things she does! She's fierce, isn't she!
I want to be like her.
But, being home wasn't meant to last. Does it ever? We were packed and ready to go to Hong Kong within an hour after Aunt Taraji told us about it. I got Papa and Alora and off we went -
Where I was allowed to do the lines for Dust Travel! Yes! Me! I was finally trusted with it! Of course, I have a lot of work to do to perfect it but I was able to do it well enough to get us where we were going. I was so proud!
Once there we had some snacks and went to talk to people about why production was slowed - apparently it was a dragon. A. Whole. Dragon.
Which was pretty cool, if I do say so.
It doesn't matter we were taken home, fed dinner, and told to stay. Tomorrow is Christmas which will be busy so I should turn in. But I will say I still have to talk to Papa about the Toy Drive, a Broom and, hopefully, see what Mama can tell me about boys.
