(#10) Christmas Day, 4th year
I managed to talk to Mama and Papa during breakfast about the toy drive. Papa said that Alora and I would need to come up with a speech for the Gala tonight and, I won’t lie, I was nervous about it.
Papa took us after breakfast to see the ice dragon! It was really cool. There wasn’t much to learn about it but seeing it up close was super exciting.
We were then taken to an orphanage in Romania and were able to give them toys. There was a little girl that gave me a drawing of a lynx. I promised to keep it so… It’ll be in here where it’s safe.
When we got to Paris we met up with Monsier Soulard who gave us snacks before we went to our room. I do like him. He’s so nice every time we see him.
It was there that we were shown our dress robes and they were AMAZING. I can’t stress it enough. They were so pretty. Mine and Alora’s were teal and black while Mama wore green and Aunt Taraji wore blue. Everyone looked so good so I gave them their earrings early.
Mama and Aunt Taraji couldn’t wear theirs but I wore mine.
Naturally there was a big presence of reporters at the Gala and they asked me a lot of questions, took a lot of photos. I felt bad for Alora because everyone was rushing her through.
Tammy Doyle was there, too.
During our speech Tammy made me feel better but I don’t think she even meant to. It was just nice. I saw her come closer and felt confidence again and we were able to finish.
The Gala flew by after we were done. I don’t even remember all the details and I’m not sure how I’m still writing… but it was a lot of fun.

(#11) January, 4th year
I forgot to mention what we got for Christmas! Yesterday was so busy I’d forgotten to mention it but they’re nice.
I got a bracelet with a snowflake to remind me of our trip to Hong Kong. It’s subtle but I love it so much. I was given some nice new clothes and some books on things that interest me. I think they’re lovely and I can’t wait to read them.
Aunt Taraji talked to me about the career path I’d choose. I had always assumed Toy Making so hadn’t put much thought into it but the Academy is a goal so I had to look into it.
I told her I’d think about it.
I also asked Papa if I could go to Hogsmead. He said yes but I had to do certain things: I can’t go alone, I can’t trust anyone, and I have to go to the three broomsticks if anything happens… and if I don’t do those things I can’t go again.
Sometimes I think it would be better if I was normal but I understand the need for caution. I really do. I just wish that it was easier sometimes. Other kids can go and not get bothered - maybe I can, too.
Besides, it’s been a full year and a half and I haven’t been to Hogsmead. Maybe the press has given up catching me there? I can be hopeful.
We got on the train and I sat with Alora Sagemore , of course. But when Tobias Twiggs barged in to talk to her… I kind of froze up. I didn’t want to talk around him - especially after getting his brother Joshua Twiggs in the media’s eye.
I feel bad about that.
He was mentioned in the Daily Prophet and I didn’t even have the chance to warn him. Lesson learned.
I owe him an apology but I don’t want him to be seen with me and get even more attention… I’m sure he has attention on him now and it’s really not fair to him.
Once back at school I selected my broom. I was told beforehand that I would only be able to play this year which… I had hoped it would be longer. I wanted to play for my house.
But “No Distractions” as an Owl Student.
I’ll find other ways to pass my time next year but, for this year, I’m going to enjoy it.
I visited Hagrid. Figured it was time to get the pot for the student Greenhouse just in case… but ended up having tea with him and visiting.
We talked some about what was in the lake but I think I have to ask Professor Fairburn for more details. I think I want to go into the academy for Magical Creatures. I mean… think about it!
I think that if I know a lot about magical creatures I could make a line of toys that are far more educational for people that love them. Like a Niffler toy that hides toy gems somewhere or a griffin toy that has all the right features and flies how they fly.
It would be really cool, I think.
But… that’s all I have for tonight. Write more tomorrow.
