MJ was excited about the idea of returning to the Kitchens. She hoped she would run into Trikee or Narby again. In her pocket, where she always carried it, as the twisty spoon she had been given.
Her good luck charm.
And she would be needing all the luck in the world to complete Amara's task on time. MJ entered the kitchens and made sure to stand out of the way.
Everyone seemed busy with their tasks and she didn't want to interrupt them. She knew one of the House-Elves would notice her soon enough.
Dippy hurried over to MJ, giving her a shy but warm wave in greeting -- before bowing low out of politeness. A few other Elfs glanced over, remembering how she'd helped one of them last year. The rest were busy with preparations for lunch -- Narby among them, standing on a counter to direct several Elfs with tall stacks of pots that swayed perilously but somehow never fell.
'Hello,' Dippy said, always pleased when it was a nice student who he recognised. 'Is you needing anything? Dippy is most eager to help.'

"Hello Dippy! I hope I'm not being a bother but is it possible to get some Tarrow from you, please? I need for an important task." She smiled at the House-Elf.
It was easy to notice a few others who looked over and MJ smiled and nodded to them before she spotted Narby. MJ wasn't sure if he could see her from all the way over there but she waved anyway.
The hustle and bustle of the kitchen, along with the warmth, made MJ feel sleepy and comfortable. She also felt grateful that the House-Elves were such a kind and friendly bunch.
Dippy gasped in horror at the suggestion that MJ could be bothering them, and shook his head hurridly -- ears flapping at the action. With a determined squeak, he rushed off to locate her the freshest Tarrow they had on hand.
Narby didn't notice the wave, far too busy working.
'Here you go,' Dippy said -- presenting not one, but two perfect Tarrows. 'Is you needing anything else?'

Oh no, had she said the wrong thing? MJ opened her mouth to apologise but Dippy was already gone.
She sighed but smiled, knowing that the House-Elf was probably just wanting to please her.
From her last visit to the Kitchens, she remembered how eager they were to help out.
And just to prove her point, Dippy came back with a very fresh looking Tarrow. She took it with a big smile, "Thank you so much Dippy, this is perfect. I don't need anything else at the moment."
She thanked him a few more times and waved goodbye to Dippy and the other House-Elves as she left. One down, plenty more to go.
