After a nice warm shower and some dry clothes, MJ was ready to spend the rest of her afternoon collecting ingredients. She ventured, this time, into the Dungeon of the castle.
She knew that the Slytherin Common room was down here, since she had already seen it, but MJ wondered what her friend Orla's dormitory looked like. Her own common room, and dormitory, were in a tower like Gryffindor and everything was bright and airy. She frowned and hoped her friend's dorm room was cold and dark like the Dungeon.
Maybe she'd bump into Orla or another classmate down here.
MJ did know, however, it would be a bad idea to use her wand for extra light since blue spiders could be rather skittish, so she endured the shadows (and the cold) to find what she wanted.
Her pace was slow as she checked any possible nook and crannies for some silvery spider webs, confident that if she could wrangle a Flupnis fish, she could handle this.
Even with the vivid colouring, it wasn't easy to locate a Blue Spider in webs, cracks, or hidey-holes. Catching one required patience and careful movement. At any sign of light, they'd scatter off into safe spots deep within the wall and remain there.

She was certain she had seen a flash of blue moving towards a corner. MJ followed slowly and as quiet as possible and, for once, was grateful for the lack of light to cast her shadow and scare away the spiders.
The first one was spotted easy enough and MJ approached it with care. She moved inch by inch until her hands were around the creature. Spiders had never been a thing that bothered her and she didn't see an issue with using her hands.
It was still in her hands and MJ moved with sure but silent steps back to her satchel. With her Potions Kit waiting for her, she was able to stow away the first spider.
Now, to catch the second one.
The corner was empty now but MJ noticed a crack in the stones and peered inside.
Long legs stretched and curled and MJ knew she had found her second spider. She didn't want to jam her wand into the crack and either upset it or hurt the spider. She fetched a quill from her satchel and decided the feather end would be gentle enough to coax a spider out.
Or so she hoped.
MJ used the quill to try and brush the spider out but the creature seemed rather resistant to her efforts at first. She tried several times and, as she was about to give up, saw the spider had somehow tangled itself up with the feather!
Was it trying to fight her quill? MJ chuckled quietly and shook her head, "Okay, that's sort of cute..."
She left the spider on the quill and used that to transport it back to her satchel. It soon realized it was on the move and started to creep along the quill but it wasn't fast enough.
MJ gave an apologetic smile as she shook it off her quill and into the Potions Kit, "Sorry, um, make friends?"
Both of them would make good potion ingredients!
Closing over her satchel, MJ wondered if there was anything else down here she could get? She fished the scroll out of her bag that Professor Snape had given her last year (yeah she carried it around still, so what?).
She had most of the list memorized but doubted herself for a second about what else was here. Hm, nope. Just the spiders!
With a shrug, she tucked the scroll away again and made her way out of the Dungeon.
