An active, character-driven Hogwarts experience set in the early 2000s. Unique items, plots, and features. Non-canon; this isn't Harry Potter's story, it's ours.
The Great Hall was buzzing with nervous chatter, for the new of an Azkaban breakout was still on everyone''s minds -- as well as the fact that the conclusion of classes meant exams were directly around the corner. At least the rain had stopped, giving way to a clear starry sky above.
Jaxen Ashworth and Elizabeth Doren only just made it back to Hogwarts in time, having spent all afternoon on their internships.
However, there was still one loose thread for 4th years. Or at least, those who took either Care of Magical Creatures or Divination. They had a rather unusual lesson for tonight, of which they had no idea why it was set for night or what to expect -- not able to find out until dinner ends, and thus they could head off to their assigned class location.
For those taking Professor Fairburn's class, that was especially unusual... as it took place somewhere inside the castle.
Prefect Patrol -- Elizabeth Doren has Prefect duties tonight, in the Vacant Corridor. Head there when ready.
COMC class thread will be available in the usual Classes board when dinner concludes tomorrow. A reminder that night's are shorter, so this RPG day will be concluded in only a few days time. As soon as the class ends, the countdown timer will go up.
5th years with Potions memories to react to, I will tag you in Discord as soon as I have finished posting that info -- then you're free to react to it in this thread, by having them think on that moment and what happened.

Sat at the Ravenclaw table, MJ added boiled potatoes and chicken casserole to her plate. She thought about the day she had had (classes, the skill room and the quest) and mulled everything over.
She would need to put some time aside to study that evening as well, since exams were almost upon them. MJ was both nervous and excited about them and hoped she was doing enough to prepare for each subject.
Added onto all of that, was the worry about the people who had escaped from Azkaban. Well, at least the rain had stopped!
"Can you pass the butter please?" MJ asked someone who sat nearby. Butter would make her potatoes even yummier.

Martha had her nose in her History of Magic textbook and barely paid attention to any conversations going on around her. Of course, if someone addressed her she would answer. Under the table her leg jiggled, the only indicated she was anxious about exams.
On her plate was fish and chips which she would eat a forkful of every now and again. It had been a long year but now everything was rushing towards exams. O.W.Ls were very important to Martha and she wished to do well.
She paused for a moment, looking up but not focused on anything in particular. Tomorrow would be career's day too! Martha smiled a little - she was excited to take advantage of meeting as many people as possble.

Amelia had just finished enjoying her toffee when she arrived in the Great Hall. Find a place at the Gryffindor table, she took a quick look around the hall and began to relax into her seat. The potion from this morning having completely worn off, the effect the most recent still there. But, with the buzz about this morning's new, it was hard to focus on that particular thing at the moment.
She let out a sigh and rubbed the back of her neck before she focused on getting what she wanted for dinner. As she looked up, she smiled when she noticed Martha with her nose in a book. Amelia didn't think she could get another reading session in at this point.
Charlotte had left class and taken her new, beautiful box to her room. She admired it for a few moments, trying to think of what to put into it, when she remembered the card from Gilbert and the picture. She dug into her trunk again, taking those items and placed them into her new box. She closed the lid and placed it deep within' her trunk. She didn't want anything to happen to it.
Maybe she could add more things to it over the next few years?
Going to the Great Hall, she managed to avoid most the crowd and sat next to MJ when she saw her. At her request, Charlotte finished putting her own food on her place, which included some fruit and some form of pasta, and then passed the butter to MJ.

Lindsey had walked carefully to the Great Hall, her hand firmly on her bag as she moved into the crowd. She had the urge to protect the talisman and swallowed when she realized that most everyone had arrived in the great hall by time she arrived. She moved along the wall and to her table, sitting down in her normal place and putting the bag beside her.
She distracted herself by putting food on her plate, knowing that she had class after dinner. She was wanting to get this to it's rightful place, but she had to do class first.

"Thank you, Charlotte." MJ smiled at her friend and used a knife to add small pieces of butter on each potato she had cut open.
"Where did you end up going?" Opting to go straight to dinner after finishing at the Spiral Tower, MJ had her satchel at her feet under the table. There hadn't been a chance for her to go back to their dormitory yet.
She hoped Charlotte was feeling better now. MJ still thought about what happened that morning but tried not to let it spoil her good mood. After she added some salt and pepper to her dinner, she started to eat.
Charlotte smiled at the thanks from MJ and went back to preparing the rest of her place, adding some vegetables to the mix. At the question, she looked over at her and then returned her eyes to her plate.
"I took my box to the dorms... I found a few things to put in it, but it is still so empty," Charlotte said as she thought about the small box buried deep in her trunk. She hoped she could keep it safe for the journey home. She had no idea where she wanted to put it at home either, she didn't want anyone to think it was trash.

"Oh that's awesome! Your box turned out so well too." Nodded with a smile. Her own keepsake box was still in her satchel. She hadn't even thought about what to keep in it yet...
"Do you plan to study tonight? I was thinking about trying to look over my Potion notes, at least. The dormitory would be fairly quiet..." She wasn't entirely sure if studying in the common room or dormitory would be better.
Charlotte felt her face turn warm at the compliment and she smiled casually at MJ. It was nice to hear things from other people, it made her heart feel really big. At her question about studying, Charlotte nodded her head towards MJ.
"Yes, I am," she said to MJ as she picked something on her place to eat. As she chewed, she thought of what to say and once she had swallowed, looked over at MJ. "I like that idea, I might be able to focus on the seek charm too."

"Sounds like a plan then." MJ nodded and then settled down to eat her dinner. She didn't mind if they talked while they enjoyed their food but she was also aware of talking too much.
To distract herself, MJ glanced up and down the table. She wasn't looking for anyone in particular but rather just glanced over or watched other students for a few moments. The food was delicious as always so MJ was content.
She pocketed an apple and some nuts - something to snack on later while studying.

After his trip through the rain to the greenhouse Ezra had been left rather soggy. So he had the smart idea to make the long journey up to his dorm to change into some dry clothes.
And it really had been a good idea, right up until he had forgotten his robe on his bed when he dashed back out. He made it all the way to the Great Hall before he even realised, and by then the yummy smell of food had him too hooked to be willing to risk missing the meal.
So instead of travelling all the way back up to the Ravenclaw dormitories, Ezra shrugged and headed over to sit down at the house table. He was in the rest of his uniform at least.
"Hi!" he said as he plopped down next to MJ and Charlotte. Happy as ever to spend his meal time with people.
As soon as his bottom was on the bench he started to fill his plate. Some pasta and chicken, then, after a brief thoughtful pause, some ice cream. He did not want to miss out on his chance at sweet stuff, so on to his plate it went.

Oscar rubbed at his eyes as he walked into the Great Hall and sat at the first empty seat that he could find at the Hufflepuff table. He was knackered and wanted nothing more than to curl up in his bed to hide from his textbooks.
Instead he had to hope for a restful enough dinner to refresh him for his mystery nighttime class. His class that he still had not come up with any idea on what may be covered.
Comfortable on his seat, Oscar proceeded to place a nice big jacket potato on his plate. He cut the potato in half, slathered both sides with butter, and then moments later had it piled high with tuna and a topping of cheese.
His fork in one hand and poking at his plate of food, Oscar reached the other out to scoop up a handful of nuts. They went into his pocket, just in case he needed a snack to get him through his last class.
Charlotte nodded to MJ when she said it sounded good and returned to her own plate. It was silence really, until Ezra appeared with them. When he said Hi, Charlotte smiled at him, but couldn't speak due to the food in her own mouth. After a few moments of chewing, she swallowed and looked over at him.
"Hello, Ezra... How was your afternoon?" Charlotte asked, though found herself feeling very weird starting conversation with another. She was getting better at it, but it felt odd being the one to start a conversation.

Ezra took his cue from Charlotte and quickly finished his mouthful of pasta before he responded. When his mouth was empty he took a quick drink of juice and then grinned over at his fellow first year.
"It was great!" he said, stabbing pieces of pasta and chicken on his fork as he talked. "I got to go to the greenhouse and my plants had grown really big! I tried to save them to grow even bigger but I had to use the big snippers to get the 'gredients off."
What was not mentioned was how much fun he'd had using the shears.
"What about you? Did you have a good afternoon?" he asked, only to shove his latest forkful into his mouth right after. He figured he may as well take his chance to eat his tasty food as he waited for her answer.
