The Great Hall was buzzing with chatter from students and staff who flooded in after the match. Everyone was eager to escape the cold weather, and most looked forward to the fact the winter season was finally coming to and end. Despite the lingering low temperature, some still lingered outside or took the long path back to the castle as a means of catching up with friends or accompanying Quidditch players.
Ravenclaw house were in high and boastful spirits, eager to celebrate their Quidditch victory. Whenever they were ready to retire to their common room for the night, and to continue celebrations there, party snacks and drinks awaited them on behalf of the house-elves.
As it's a Quidditch day, Professors and Prefects are more lenient about students lingering in corridors or outside during dinner. This gives members a chance to catch up with friends or take their time heading to dinner. However, this leniency only applies to social RPing -- anything else may risk detention, as per usual.
Dinner proceeds at its usual pace. When it ends, thus curfew begins, students must be back inside.
Prefect Patrol -- @kaspian and Elizabeth Doren have Prefect duties tonight, on the Grand Staircase. Head to the 7th floor when ready.
Forest Venture -- as per arrangement, Reena Ashworth is to meet Professor Snape in the Entrance Hall when ready.
Both events are scheduled for when dinner ends. However, if your character has had a chance to eat and is eager to get started -- simply start a thread at the location, and it begins.
Tom ate in silence. He considered skipping dinner altogether, but the intensity of the match had wiped him out and he was famished. He needed to put some kind of fuel in his body if he wanted to be a functioning person in the morning. He spooned a large helping of pasta with sauce into a bowl and twirled his fork in the noodles lazily.
He had lost the game. No, they had lost the game, the entire Slytherin team. Why should Tom be expected to shoulder the burden of the loss all by himself? The truth was that he had been bested by an older, more experienced player, while virtually everyone else on his team had been made a fool of by a bunch of first years. If anyone should feel embarrassed it should be them, not he.
Tom wallowed in his Slytherin sadness as he dutifully attempted to drown out the cheers of the blue birdbrains. They sure could be loud for such a smarmy group of know-it-alls. Tom stared into his bowl, almost like keeping the Ravenclaws out of his field of vision meant they weren't there, and the match hadn't gone the way it had.
He knew his House wasn't particularly well known for being empathetic and full of support, and usually Tom didn't need it, but he was certainly down in his spirits after the way the match had turned out. If anyone of his House mates had a spare word of encouragement to throw his way, he would accept it gratefully.
William cleaned his hands and legs after his adventure. When he came o the great hall, the shouting was a clear indicator that the match was over. He doesn't really care about the quidditch, but still, it would be better if their house won.
Skipping a Quidditch match for a productive day was usual for him, but this day wasn't that productive. Many things from his to-do lists were still left. It means he had a huge list of things to do tomorrow.
William ignored the shouting people and arrived at his house table. Tom was sitting alone in a corner. So, he went near him and sat. Usually, William sat alone, but after spending three and half years in the same school, he had gotten used to being around a few particular people. Tom was one of such people. At least he was bearable compared to others.
"Hey, how was the match." He asked casually, serving a plate for himself.
Saoirse had properly dried off and changed after a successful day of ingredient hunting. She had entirely missed out on Quidditch, but was glad to have been productive. Although she had missed spending time with friends, she didn't regret not seeing more terrible injuries.
Walking back to the Great Hall, Saoirse quickly figured out that Ravenclaw had won. The normally smug and self-assured Slytherins seemed dejected now, while the nerdy Ravenclaws were full of vigour. Saoirse wondered how many had ended up hospitalized this time. She didn't understand any of it.
She entered the Great Hall, avoiding the cacophonous Ravenclaw side and veering directly to her own table. She sat down, immediately taking helpings of hot food. She still felt cold, which meant her core's temperature wasn't good. Some hot food would fix that up quickly.
After a change into less muddy clothes in her dormitory, Kassia made her way to dinner. She had changed into her cursed uniform with extra layers underneath. After spending the day freezing while ingredient-hunting, she was happy to be as warm and toasty as possible.
As someone who was fiercely against the points system and Houses in general, Kassia was not nearly as miserable as her fellow Slytherins. She knew that they had lost from the moment she entered the common room. The reek of failure and shame was all over everyone in there. Kassia wondered if she should have attended the match to watch some gore fly, but her marks did come first.
She practically pranced into the Great Hall, not even bothering to make eye contact with the jeering Ravenclaws. She swept over to the Slytherin table, planting herself next to a couple of fourth-years. She recognized Stansbury the Quidditch player, as well as Doren's younger brother. Stansbury looked like someone had just died.
Kassia began scraping vegetables onto her plate, casually butting into the conversation. "You weren't hurt in the match, were you, my dear?" she asked Stansbury.

Jaxen entered the hall to sounds of celebration from his own house and could only assume that this meant they'd won the match. He was happy for them, knowing that Nyx and the others had worked hard to secure that victory. But his joy was short lived as he made his way to the table and searched the sea of faces for that of his little brother.
Ezra was nowhere to be found. Hopefully he hadn't gotten lost and was just taking the time to chat with some of his new friends. But Jax was impatient to speak with him and discuss what he might include in a letter home to their mother. Sitting down in his usual place he began to serve himself, but found that his appetite was rather lacking.
His knee bounced beneath the table as he picked at the food on his plate. Should he go talk to Lucas after finding his brother? To discuss what Reena had told him? No. He had enough to worry about tonight and Lucas might be wrapped up in consoling his girlfriend after their loss- he would talk to him tomorrow, maybe...
Charlotte poked her head around the corner of the door and felt her heart jump to her throat. It was chaos in her option. It was loud and people were walking around. It made her stomach roll and she swallowed as she looked at the tables already full of food for dinner. She felt her stomach rumble, causing her to grip it before she let out a breathe and moved slowly between students and to the end of the table.
To be honest, the girl was quick to put a few items on her plate and quickly eat them. She refused to stay in the great hall with all the excitement. All she knew was that Ravenclaw had won and it showed on the faces of her fellow ravenclaws. But for her, it was just terror on the inside. Everyone was being loud, everyone was going back and forth and it was making her panic.
She ate her food quickly and then left without saying a word. Her dorm would be quiet, right?

Grace was thrilled that Ravenclaw had won. Or maybe it was that Slytherin had lost. Either way, it had been an exciting game to watch. She couldn't wait until she got a chance to play. It was always more fun to play than to watch.
She piled some food onto her plate and slid closer to Saoirse. "How was your day?" She knew that Saoirse hadn't planned to go to the game, so Grace was curious as to what she had done instead. Grace took a bite of her dinner. She was still a little jumpy from the Quidditch game.

Lucas strolled into the Great Hall, making his way to the Slytherin table and ignoring anyone or everyone around him. He'd just come from the Hospital Wing, and had plans to head directly to the Common Room to await company.
While he could easily go to the Kitchens, Lucas decided on just popping into the Great Hall for a moment to stocking up on as much as he could carry -- which was primarily focused on pastries, which weren't as abundant as usual since the Dessert outlawing. Maybe he should have just snuck into the Kitchens?
He gave the table a brief glance, nodding with a charming smile while he continued mounting food into his arms. If only Slytherin won and they'd have snacks waiting for them, but noooo. Lucas shot Ravenclaw a sour look, then tried to sip some pumpkin juice without dropping everything.
With a one-finger wave to those around him, Lucas ducked out of the hall again -- arms full and dropping an apple along the way.

Ezra was a bundle of excitement as he made his way to dinner. Ravenclaw had won the Quidditch match and he thought that was just the best. His fellow first years must feel great for it, he was sure! He couldn't wait to tell them how awesome he thought them.
First though, he had to deal with his rumbling belly. And that was a very important mission.
Ezra paused in the doorway of the Great Hall when he reached it, taking the time to pick the perfect seat. And by perfect seat, he meant it was all about who to sit next to. His brows furrowed as he failed to spot his friends, wondering if he would have to give up and accept the torture of sitting alone.
Just as he was about to admit defeat and do exactly that, his face lit up as he spotted a very familiar face. That was even better!
Ezra barely refrained from letting out a cheer as he rushed towards Jax, all but falling into the seat next to him.
"Hi!" he greeted, quite happy with himself for spotting his brother.
Amelia came into the great hall with a pleasant smile on her lips and she looked around. She was sure that Luckett would be close behind, but he had a gaggle of friends that normally swarmed him when he walked around the halls. It wouldn't surprise her if he would arrive in a mass of people. She walked between the tables and passed Grace to head to the normal area where the Gryffindors Fifth Years liked to sit.
Once she sat down, she looked around for any of her friends and started to fill her plate with delicious food. The moment she took her first bite, she was in heaven. The absence of lunch was showing and she quickly put a few extra things on her plate to enjoy. She was still neat about it, but it showed she was hungry.

Jax had just spooned mashed potatoes into his mouth when the bench seemed to jolt with the force of someone sitting down beside him. Ezra seemed to be in a particularly good mood that evening, no doubt owing to their Quidditch victory and Jax smiled at his younger brother despite having his mouth full.
"Hey Ezzie, did you have fun at the match?" he asked once he'd swallowed what was left in his mouth, not wanting to speak with his mouth full and ruin the younger boys night. He knew that there were some first years on the Quidditch team, maybe his brother was friends with one of them? He really did hope he'd managed to make some friends by now, their mum would be upset to think he was struggling.
Pushing his plate away and ignoring the untouched food, he leaned over to give the first year a one armed hug. "Reena got a letter from mum this morning, she wants you to write to her" he didn't want to pressure his brother, but felt like he would need very little prompting.
"She wants to know if you've made any new friends this year... You have, haven't you?" he'd feel very different about asking his brother to lie about the matter, especially when he felt sure dishonesty was not something he should be encouraging from his younger siblings. "When you write to her, would you mind asking if she's got any new friends, any recent company...? But like... Don't make it sound like an accusation"
He picked up a handful of grapes from a nearby table and pretended to occupy himself by eating them. It felt almost wrong to impose this responsibility onto his little brother, but he was the one least likely to be met with resistance- at least, that's what he thought.

Dinner ended and curfew began. Most Ravenclaws had already relocated victory celebrations to their house Common Room, where snacks awaited them. Prefects were on patrol, and most of the Professor had left the hall -- Professor Snape hadn't been seen at all during dinner.
A few students decided to linger, too wrapped up in being social or making plans for tomorrow. Everyone else were keen to head out -- yearning for the warmth of their beds or house fireplace. Several gave the enchanted ceiling a glance as they left. Though it wasn't actively snowing, it was bittersweet for some that this was the last night of Winter.
Dinner was about to end, but Misuk just managed to slide in and get a plate of rice and stir fried vegetables - no ramyeon today, unfortunately - for themself, and managed to also stash some kimbap for their friends if they felt like it. The ravenclaw table was relatively empty by now, so they hurried up even more to eat quickly, hoping the good snacks weren't already gone ... if there were any hope, maybe they were more busy chatting and less busy eating?
As they finished, they headed towards the Ravenclaw tower.

"Mhm,"Ezra nodded as he started to pile mash on his plate, sneaking peeks up at Jax with a little smile on his face every now and then as he did so. The eleven year old found it entertaining that he had caught his brother with a mouthful of food. "It was really fun. Ravenclaw did so good!"
"Did you see it?" he asked, leaning into the one armed hug as he poked at his dinner of potatoes and more potatoes.
He thought he'd seen Jax around the Quidditch captain lady person, so they must be friends, right? Then again, apparently the older boy had those Big Important Exams (Ezra couldn't remember the name of them but they must be special if Grandpa had mentioned them), so maybe he didn't even have the time to support or spend with friends. Oh, that was horrible!
Luckily he was distracted from thoughts on how to make sure his oldest brother spent time with people too (without ignoring Grandpa's instructions, a hard task that the only solution he could think of was pushing people at his brother in the halls), by thoughts of letters.
That was right, he did have to write her! To be fair to him, he had been meaning to, he just kept leaving it too long and then falling asleep instead. He felt really bad about that now.
Had she noticed that he had forgotten to write for longer than usual? Did that mean that she was reading their letters? He hoped so, even if that made him feel worse about his lack of them at the moment.
"I can do that!" he agreed easily, already thinking of what to write. "Company? Do you mean like Grandpa? Is that why he said he'd see us over summer?" That made the most sense to him. It didn't really even matter what Jax answered to that, Ezra was going to do as he requested either way. Why wouldn't he when he trusted his older siblings so much? They wouldn't lead him wrong.
Ezra turned back to continue eating and pouted as he realised the table had been cleared of food while he had been distracted by thoughts of letters. He had been eating that! That probably meant that it was time to go back to the common room then. Did that mean it was too late to write home too?
He sighed sadly at the empty table and made to stand up. Once he was free of the bench he shuffled slightly on the spot, shooting his brother a half guilty, half worried look.
"She's okay right?" he asked, talking about their mum once again. She wasn't mad or disappointed in him? First he had stayed at the castle over Christmas and then he didn't write. He was the worst. Was she lonely? It had been just the two of them for the majority of the time over the last couple of years (well, the occasional nanny too). Maybe that was why Jax wanted to know if she had friends!
