Matt signed, reluctantly giving the Great Hall a final searching glance for any sign of Nyx. He preferred his girlfriend's than answering questions he didn't want to get into right now. Maybe he could phrase it in such a boring way that Jax would fall asleep, then Matt could sneak to the common room and say hi o Nyx if she was there?
With no reason to linger, he rose from his seat and fixed his tie. Matt groaned, then dragged himself off after Jax towards the long climb of the Ravenclaw Tower. At lest their dorm would indeed provide better privacy for this sort of thing. The walk would give him a lot of time to think over what Jax said, and how he could probably respond to it.

Jake enjoyed his dinner the best he could despite sulking over his bet loss, nodding adamantly to everything Tiana said. He poked his tongue out at Anjay, who called him pudding.
'So, what I'm hearing, is you think I'm tasty?' Jake smirked, throwing Anjay's assessment back at him. 'I could be made of chocolate,' he added to Rylan with a wink. He didn't have much else to add, more concerned with decreasing his starvation than all the talk of him being a snack.
'When aren't those vile snakes out for blood?' He muttered under his breath, as conversation continued around him. He was as surprised as Jade that anything involving a Slytherin could be forgiven - even standing in their presence seemed to be a crime these days. Not that anyone would want to.
Jake choked on his food, then roared with laughter at Rylan having to dance with McGonagall. He tried to remember who had to last year but it evaded him, as he was too busy taking in the layout of the room and trying to predict where the punch bowls might be. He was so lost in thought and amusement than he didn't notice Tobias come in, which was lucky for the Seeker as Jake had many words to have with him about losing him his bet.
He paid zero attention to anything else when dinner ended, as his sole focus was on devouring pudding and various treats in a manner that would horrify his mother. Once that too vanished, rather rudely as he wasn't finished stuffing his face, Jake rose to his feet with the declaration he was headed off to the common room.
