She had collected two out of five ingredients for her potions kit and one out of... many for the polyjuice potion. She had decided that it was time to move on from the Expansive Lawn and strolled towards the forest- with no intention to enter, she would worry about the Duskcap another time.
Right now she was more worried about how she would collect the Beestripe Grub, not entirely sure how to find it with her only indicator being 'found in rotting wood'. She was also unsure excactly how big they would be and feared they may be pretty gross.
Checking Snape's list for other ingredients she could look out for her she raised her eyebrows, wondering if it might be too late to find Primpears this year. But what did she know? Unlike Arthur and Lindsey she was no herbologist. She sure as neverending stream of time was endless would not go looking for the reptile egg or insect wings. Sounded as though she might have to fight a bug or reptile for that, so she would stay away from that.
Seemed like she would look out for Nettles along the way then. Maybe nettles even grew near rotting wood? Who knew? Not her!
Reena sighed. She should have brought someone along that was more knowledgable of plants and creatures. But who would have gone out with her on such a cold day? She figured Jaxen would have- if only she had put as much effort in findign her brother as she had to do now into finding ingredients.
Phillip muttered under his breath as he was along Hogwarts grounds. He tried to find some glass jars for the ingredients, figuring it'd be better to get the messier ones over with, but Phillip had no luck. He had to have put them somewhere and promptly forgot about it. The Slytherin was also feeling particularly lazy just after breakfast and decided to find some of the easier ones on the list that didn't need any particular equipment to get.
Giving the scroll another look, Phillip started towards the forest path that led to the darkness of the Forbidden Forest. He'd been tempted to cross the boundary several times throughout his years at Hogwarts, knowing that the Forest had several ingredients that would work well with some he already had. But that was a journey for another time and with more preparation. Only a fool'd go into the Forest with no plan.
Eyeing the trees for the last time, Phillip stopped just little further than the start of the path, winding his green scarf tighter around his neck. Just as he was about to start the search, he spied a figure not too far from where he was standing. Phillip didn't recognize the person, though they seemed faintly familiar, hoping it wasn't someone communicative.
He turned his back on them and started looking around for any of the ingredients that could be found in the area. Maybe Phillip will find some nettles, though wild primpears weren't out of the question. Since Phillip had more trouble finding plants than animal, he was also on the lookout for some insects. They were louder than plants and insect wings were quite valuable in some potions.

Thinking about the uncharacteristic warmth she had experienced while inspecting her house fireplace in the Slytherin common room only a short while ago she moved her hands towards her face, dug them into her scarf and blew on her fingers to warm them a little.
She thought she heard something and turned around to see someone on the path with her, relieved she had heard a student rather than a weird creature that had emerged from the forest. Reena recognized him as a house mate, the Slytherin scarf being a dead give away. They had their back turned to her and she was about to turn around again when she got the idea they might actually be able to help her.
With a small sigh she started walking towards them. Seeing them from behind she got the vague idea that it might be a boy but she was not entirely sure. If they were close in age to her she would probably able to tell who they were if she saw their face but for now she'd have to hope they would be inclined to help out.
"Hey. Sorry, I'm a bit at a loss. You won't happen to be a creatures' enthusiast?", Reena let humor show through in her voice at the last part. Slytherins helped each other out, right? Not like this was Seabrook or Mardling- that much she could tell!
Phillip twitched when the person spoke near him. He heard the footsteps, but figured they'd go away, already getting what they wanted. Closing his eyes and taking a deep breath to calm himself down.
'I wouldn't call myself an enthusiast,' Phillip drawled out with a weird emphasis on the last word. An image came to him of a person baby-talking with a niffler while dancing with a kneazle. Stifling a snort, he turned towards the person that spoke to him.
'But I know my way around them enough, especially if they're used in Potions,' Phillip continued, looking around the area for any nettle patches. He wasn't too happy about digging around for this particular plant. His arms started phantom itching from past experiences. Phillip indulged the temporary tick for a scratch or two on his right forearm before his attention was back on the other Slytherin.
'Ashworth, right? Rila?' Phillip guessed, not particularly bothered if he got her name wrong. He knew her brother through some of the classes, but it wasn't as if they partied together. The boy vaguely recalled Ashworth mentioned a sister in the past, so he supposed she was her.
'Dawson, or Phillip. Whichever,' he introduced himself, standing up from his crouching position. While he didn't mind being called by his name, Phillip doubted the girl would allow herself such familiarity from the get go.
'What'd you want?' Phillip went straight to the point of her striking a conversation with him, his lips pursed in thought. He might get a use out of this interaction after all, so Phillip allowed the conversation to continue with crossed arms and a pointed look in the girl's direction.

Their response sounded promising and she recognised them as a fifth year once she saw their face and Reena tried to remember wether they were of Seabrook's gang. They were obviously not on the Quidditch team or they would not be here right now, assuming Practise was still going.
Reena nodded when they asked if she was Ashworth yet the slight raise of her left eyebrow indicated 'Rila' irritated her. Wether that was because it was the wrong name or that they were suggesting to jump to such familiarity was left unclear as she did not bother to correct them.
Yes, Dawson was his name. Now she could sort him.
She appreciated that he was quick to the point and decided she wouldgive him the same courtesy. "I need tofind Beestripe Grub. It is a potions ingredient and found in rotten wood. Perhaps you could help me find some? Please?"
Reena gave him a smile and wondered what she could offer him in exchange. She was not sure what she had to offer that he did not have or know of already. Well. If he did help her, courtecy demanded she'd help him out in the future so perhaps he would do it for a future favour.
Phillip narrowed his eyes at the girl, considering her request. She was a Slytherin, so it'd be nice if he helped her out. It wasn't in his nature to not be helpful, but Phillip was more indulgent about it if he got something in return.
'Since you asked so nicely Ashworth...' he trailed off, biting his lip in thought about any information.
'It's gonna cost ya, though,' Phillip pointed out to Ashworth. Not sure what he could ask in return, since the information wasn't so valuable, there wasn't even a guarantee that they'd get the ingredient. Nevertheless, it was nice to establish an understanding that if a Slytherin helped out, no matter with how little a task, the gesture should be returned.
'Something in the future,' he added, placating Ashworth that she needn't pay right away. Maybe he'd get an in with the Ravenclaw Ashworth. There were too many Ashworths floating around in his head, so Phillip decided to call the girl by her first name in his thoughts.
'You already know it's found in rot,' Phillip told Rila and kicked a few tree stumps, looking for any different in sound or dampness.
'Depends on what kind of rot, though,' he continued. 'Most people think the smell of wood rot's the same as meat rot, but it's totally different once you get to know them both. They expect a foul, disgusting stench like something dead or of feces, but it's really a musty smell, even pleasant to some,' Phillip explained, taking on an exciting tone when he told Rila the difference.
'So, really, just use your nose. Close your eyes if it helps you. Think of smelling dampness or mushrooms,' Phillip waved his hands towards the ground. 'Get closer to the wood too if your smell's not sharp enough.'
The ground was still wet from the late-night downpour, so the dampness was easy to sniff out. There was certainly a scent that Phillip described, and a possible hint of grubs near one of the mossy logs, but neither of their skills were quite high enough to handle that sort of ingredient.
It was an informative moment, but not one that would grant either much progress on their search. If they wanted to collect ingredients here, they'd need to pick something a bit more at their level.
Phillip acknowledged Rila's thanks for the given information with a slight nod. Grubs were rather difficult to find, despite the perhaps easier task of finding the rot, so he decided to focus on other ingredients.
With a grimace of disappointment, Phillip decided to try his luck in finding any insects for their wings. He moved a little away from the younger Slytherin so he'd have more quiet which would hopefully help him hearing the buzzing.
Previous experience told him that insects are a pain to catch (the less said about his younger years and catching fireflies the better), so Phillip kept his eyes opened for patches of nettle. While he didn't find any jars for the liquids, Phillip did manage to grab a pair of gloves, hopefully without any holes that would make them work less than perfect.
All character mentions and actions had permission.
The area was rather open and well-lit, which was great for a morning stroll along the path but perhaps not ideal for finding nettles that most preferred to avoid. Phillip would need to venture off the path to increase his chances, perhaps seek the more overgrown and wild areas where nettles were more common?
Cursing under his breath at his bad luck, Phillip looked around for any patches of nettle or other people than the girl. Seeing no one, Phillip took a few tentative steps off the path and into the forest.
It didn't sit well with him, going deeper without a real plan and nothing to defend himself with but his wand and fitness level.
Making sure that he still had the path in his view, Phillip looked after any overgrown areas or untamed patches of the forest where the nettle could be found. At the same time, Phillip strained his ears for anything unnatural sounds that would hopefully tell him of the danger before it had a significant impact on him.
His tentative distance from the path put him in the right direction, as he spotted some fresh nettles nearby - too small to be viable ingredients yet, but a good sign nevertheless.
The area was quiet, apart from the occasional sounds of birds in the trees or students mucking around in the distance, no doubt enjoying their free time more than he was. It seemed the forest path was determined to withhold any viable nettles from him though, unless he stepped away from the path entirely and ventured into the unknown and less maintained overgrown.
Phillip huffed in annoyance when he found little to nothing of what he was looking for. He noticed some nettles, but they were too small and thus underdeveloped to be of any use as ingredients. 'Really,' Phillip said to himself and froze in place to observe the area and sounds of the forest. It didn't seem as if there were any creatures nearby that would harm him, so Phillip delved deeper into the forest, slowly losing the sight of the path until it was completely gone.
'Oh, go to the forest, it'll be a grand old time,' the Slytherin muttered. 'Get fresh ingredients, do the kit, it'll help you make stuff go boom.' Sighing, Phillip crouched and moved bushes, branches and forest-y things away from him, trying to spy some bigger nettles.
He wondered what would happen if something happened. Would his family even care? Doubtful, Phillip deducted, they barely knew when he came home for the summer and they only had that knowledge because they had to come and pick him up.
'Come on, where are you?' Phillip questioned and crouch-walked a few steps further, now surrounded by the wilder aspects of the forest.

Dawson was an okay guy, she figured. It was kind of captivating how excited he appeared to be about different sorts of rott- something Reena found no pleasure in and rather disgust. She had of course agreed to help him out in the future in return eventhough they could not find the Grub despite their best efforts.
She did feel a bit foolish sniffing the dirt but ultimately decided she'd pay Mardling extra so she would nit have to deal with it all. Perhaps she would feel differently in the future but right now she decided to get her potions kit first.
Reena waved Dawson goodbye and wandered off into a different direction trying to find Nettles or any other ingredient she could find here. She was hoping she would not be attacked by bugs, she really could do without that. If she turned around she would still be able to see Dawson but she was too preoccupied with her own search.
Finally, Phillip's risk and venture were rewarded. He spotted a large clump of nettles that were healthy and at the right growth stage to be viable ingredients.
He might have gotten a bit too lucky though, as the surroundings nettles were rather big. With gloves, he could pick an ingredient with minimal concern - but if he waned to go for a second there was a risk of getting badly stung even with the added hand protection. It was hard to tell if this was all the viable nettles he'd find this morning or if further venturing might give him another chance at a second pick.

Meanwhile, Reena's considerably less efforts were even more fruitful. Literally, as a primpear fell from a tree and hit her on the head. It was at the edge of its edibility, so turned to sweet mush that dripped in globs of fruit.
Where there was one, there were many. She wasn't having any luck with her search of nettles, but the surroundings trees were ripe with wild primpears. She'd have to work for them, as thy were considerably high up. She spotted a viable one up the tree beside her, though there were likely others.

She was too busy looking at the ground that she did not even look up to find anything that did not grow low to the earth. With a sharp yell of surprise she jumped backwards when something hit her on the head. She looked down at her feet to see the pear mush while rubbing the spot on her head that had been hit.
"Ouch.", she murmured. Looking up she spotted the trees full of primpears and looked at them frozen to the ground for a solid second before realising that they could be collected for ingredients.
She spotted a viable one up in the tree beside her and was tempted to accio it down from there but she knew ingredients and magic at the wrong moment did not mix well. Putting her bag down and folding her robe and scarf on top of it so she would not get it caught in the branches she walked around the tree to look for the easiest way to climb towards the ripe pear.
Reena was glad she lived close to a forest and having had the chance to climb trees before on family outings. She would not have seen the branch that was within jumping-distance for her to grab as a safe option to climb towards the pear. At first try she did not get a good enough grasp on the tree, the bark feeling cold and a little damp which made it slippery, so she had to jump again.
As soon as she got a good grip on the branch she started hoisting herself up, using her feet to walk up most of her body until she could swing her leg around the branch she was holding onto and pull herself into a sitting position with the branch safely between her legs and facing the trunk. Now all she had to do was grab the next branch so she could get a safe stance on the branch she was sitting on. Reena soon found a reliable on and once she stood she could stretch herself around the tree enough to reach the branch with the pear she had seen from below. She carefully moved her hands along it until she could bend it towards her and reach the primpear. Pulling it off was easy enough and she let the branch snap back into its place.
Looking around she decided one would be enough, she did not have accute need for primpears and the only potion she could think of right off the bat that needed a pear was the freeze potion. Perhaps she would try her luck on that one when she found the time- or need to improve on that.
She took the stalk of the pear inbetween her teeth so she could climb down safely and without squashing the pear. Once dangling from the lowest branch she let go and landed on the ground. After a few staggering motions she found her footing and returned to her bag, putting the wild primpear she had collected safely away and putting on her robe and scarf again, happy for what little warmth was still on them.
Looking around she realised she had lost sight of Dawson and decided she would leave the area. Perhaps she could find the rest of the ingredients needed for her kit somewhere warmer.
