#7 - Playful Morning [OPEN - Gobstones]

Amelia had made her way back to the castle, her bottom still a bit sore from her tumble, but she would be okay. The landing had been rough, so it was bound to have bruised and she could get over it. This was not a hospital wing visit issue and she had no intention of going there for a slip in the lawn.

Sitting down, she checked the contents of her back and smiled brightly when she saw that everything was ready for Snape. She had all the needed items to achieve the next step in her potion's kit and that made her smile. Her parents would be proud, but she would have to wait... She had already sent the letter off with an owl from the school owlry.

The sound of someone speaking made her look up and towards another fifth year. Amelia did know her as Sophia, but that was about all she knew. Gobstones did sound fun and she smiled, shouldering her bag and heading over towards her. "I'll play."

Sophia wasn't the most patient of people, so she was getting close to giving up waiting for an opponent - when someone sat across from her and offered to play. She gave the familiar Gryffindor a friendly smile, glad it was someone who wasn't a complete stranger. It was nice to get to play a game with a fellow classmate.

'Awesome. This'll be fun.' Sophia set everything up and waited for Amelia to get settled too. 'Hey, you're Twiggs right? You friends with Jacob by any chance?' She was sure she'd seen them hanging out before, and mucking around in class - recently, even.

Once they were ready to go, Sophia picked one of her gobstones and examined the board carefully. She flicked the gobstone, making sure it was from the right spot and that her aim was good. Though, as good a chaser as she was, a tiny gobstone was nothing like a quaffle so she couldn't rely on her Quidditch skills to her her secure a win here.

As Amelia sat down, she smiled over at the Hufflepuff and nodded casually as she put her stuff on the ground near her. It was nice to relax to this game and she watched carefully as Sophia made her first move. At the question about Jacob, she nodded again.

"Yeah." She said, watching as her Gobstone landed in a pretty good place. Not bad at all. Aiming her own, she was careful to try and get it positioned good before giving a good flick. "Why you ask?" It was a casual, curious question in response to the other.

Sophia smiled as Amelia's gobstone didn't land as close to the middle as hers had, though tried not to let her competitive side show too much. This wasn't like Quidditch; it was just a bit of fun to pass the time. 

'Just curious. We're friends.' Sophia shrugged, trying to have some conversation though not really sure what to talk to Amelia about. 'Did you try out for the team?' She glanced at Amelia, considering that it was a likely option.

She really needed to find out who exactly was on the teams so far. She'd heard rumours but then wasn't sure, and had forgotten some already. That was no good; she had to know this stuff.

Sophia flicked her next gobstone, hoping to get as lucky as her first one. 

Amelia hissed between her teeth slightly as it landed past the yellow and landed further away. She would have to aim better next time. But, she groaned as she sat back and looked at Sophia as she spoke and nodded. Well, it was good Jacob had friends. He was good at making friends. For some reason, he thoughts went on that girl... Oh, what was her name? Ellie? No, that wasn't it... Elizabeth? Yes, that sounded right.

Amelia didn't know why, but she felt drawn to the fellow student.

At the question about quidditch, she nodded. "Made Beater for Gryffindor." Amelia was proud of that. As she flicked the next gobstone, it landed near Amelia, who smiled and set up her next stone. Flicking her's out there, she tried for the center, but you never really knew.

Sophia was enjoying their game. It was nice to just hang out sometimes, though she tried not to think too much about the afternoon and having to play Captain for a try-out session. For once, she was less keen on a Quidditch topic. 

'Wow, congrats.' Sophia watched Amelia's gobstone barely make it onto the board. She rested her elbows on the stone table, peering at the options so far. She had one in the middle, but needed to get more to make the points count. 'I doubt you can catch me, though. Having played Against Seabrook for years, I'm pretty good at avoiding bludgers.' She grinned at Amelia. All in good fun.

She readied another gobstone, considering where to aim for and what conversation topic to pick next. Unsure, she decided to let Amelia pick it. She flicked her gobstone and watched, eager to stay ahead in points.

Amelia groaned again as her stone settled at the edge of the game area and she put her fingers on her chin, looking at the stones there and mumbling under her breathe as she tried to think of her next move. When Sophia spoke again, she looked up and smiled at the praise before she straightened a little, chuckling at her next comment about not being able to catch her.

"Oh, I've had fifteen years of target practice with my siblings, I think I can manage." She chuckled, a teasing sound in her voice before she watched her gobstone land on the board, along the edge. She really needed to get her own in a better place.

Flicking her own again, she leaned back and looked at her. "Got plans for the afternoon? I heard a few students are going to have tea with the minister." It was mostly just a subject picked on keeping the conversation.
