Tiana skipped into the chambers, coming to a stop when she noticed a couple duels already taking place and a few students hanging around the room. She watched some of her enemies queuing up to go at it and while she would have loved a front row seat to see Amara Seabrook and Nyx Nordstrom take hits, she was there to focus on herself and improve her own skills. The next hour or so was going to be about her and her alone. She was ready for more training!
She took her robes off and flung them over her arm, getting herself prepped for the challenge she issued to Lucky. Tiana hoped he would show up and take her up on her offer to duel, but if he didn't then she was fine taking on someone else. When Jade caught up to her in the dueling chamber, Tiana turned to face her, offering her a quick hug. “You ready to watch me kick some Hufflepuff boy butt?” she chuckled to Jade, looking ahead to what was hopefully to come.
Thomas walked to a less crowded area of the chamber, choosing to leaving her things behind with Jade. She took a deep breath and looked toward the doorway, hoping to eventually see the tall, studly Hufflepuff that everyone seemed to fawn over. After a few seconds, what looked like a shadow appeared and Tiana jumped the gun and shouted, believing it to be Lucky before the unknown silhouette revealed themselves. “Oi, Langford! Let's see if you can live up to that nickname of yours, huh?” she beamed with a grin, it stretching and dimpling her cheeks.

Did Tiana Thomas challenge him to a duel? Fun times ahead. Lucky didn't even have to think about it. He cocked a smirk, his eyes glinting at her offer. 'You're on, Tiana.' Why would he say no? It had been a minute since he'd graced the dueling chambers with his presence, so it seemed like now was as good a time as any to return. He kept his want in his grasp, trailing behind Tiana as she ran from the courtyard. She was pretty enthusiastic about everything, wasn't she? Lucky liked that. She always seemed to have an endearing pep in her step.
Hopefully, for her, that pep remained after their duel began. Lucky strode into the chamber, noticing Tiana armed and ready. 'You don't waste any time, do you, Thomas?' He shed a small grin, rolling up his sleeves past his elbows. He had to show off some of his biceps, display just how strong he was. Was it an intimidation tactic? Maybe. But it was probably vanity more than anything else. He strode toward Tiana after he prepared himself, eyes locked on only her.
'You don't mind if I get things started, do you?' It was polite to ask, but he figured she'd be alright with it. Lucky took a moment to run a hand through his tousled, sandy brown hair while he got situated. He didn't know what girls were watching, after all. He got in proper stance, his wand held outward. He suddenly flicked his wand toward Thomas, casting an offensive spell.
Tiana gasped loudly as the offensive spell hit her head on. Her defensive spell wasn't enough to overpower it! Her reaction was more the surprise of it all than it actually hurting too bad. She shook her head in disappointment, but shrugged it off. It didn't look like Lucky was going to be an easy win by any stretch of the imagination. This was going to be a fight until the finish! And to be honest, it was more fun that way. Why would anyone want an easy duel? You didn't learn anything that way. That mindset is what made Thomas appreciative of her current opponent.
Tiana finished shaking off the hit and adjusted her stance, her eyes falling back on Lucky. “Lucky shot,” she joked, giving him a small wink. She didn't want to lose this match, not after being unable to get a chance to show what she could do against a deadly moth. This was her chance at redemption in a way. Tiana crouched down a little, before lunging forward with a whip of her wand. She hoped her offensive would put her back on top! She wanted the win!

His victory was short-lived. Oof. Lucky almost spun backwards after the attack she rained down on him, but he managed to stay on his feet. He chuckled a little bit, brushing his hair from his face. 'Nice one.' It was all he could manage to say in response. Tiana had a little power to her, didn't she? He rotated his wrists a bit, trying to loosen them up before he went again. 'Did you pretend that I was one of the girls from the courtyard earlier?' He laughed at his own joke.
But the time for jokes was no more. He quickly dashed forward with another flick, hoping to catch Tiana off guard. If he was able to take her out with this next attack, that would be a pretty impressive victory. At least to him. Regardless of the outcome, he was willing to go however long and however many times. Lucky was certain that Tiana probably felt the same.

What was in this girl's pumpkin juice? Lucky was flung onto his backside, probably earning some laughter from any bystanders that were watching. It hurt. Yeah, his ass hurt, but his ego hurt more. He took a little longer than expected to stand, dusting his trousers off at the same time. He shot a look at Tiana, one that was a bit more determined than before. Lucky had no problems being the charming, funny bloke, but when he put his "serious shades" on, it was time to get down to business. If he wanted any chance of winning, he'd have to win this one.
'Someone's been practicing a little more than she let on.' He snickered, sizing her up. Tiana was proving to be good at both offense and defense. How would he be able to land this next one? He bit down on his lower lip, quietly contemplating his move. In snap judgement, Lucky flicked his wand with decision, hoping it would do the trick. If it didn't? Welp. That was that.
Lucky cast an offensive spell (score: 5), which overpowers Tiana's defensive spell (score: 1). After much determination, Lucky wins the round and match!
Tiana, you may free roleplay the outcome of your choice.

Having finished duelling the dummy, with a pretty even score, Grace had been hoping she would be able to duel some actual people. She saw her house's Quidditch captain, Tiana, duelling a Hufflepuff boy she didn't recognize, but was certainly older than her. Most students were, since Grace was a first year. She cheered on Tiana, but she lost anyways.
"Hey!" Grace called out to the Hufflepuff boy. "My turn now!" she thought she was pretty good at duelling, never mind a loss against a dummy. It was much more fun to duel a person, because she could actually talk to them. The dummy was...a dummy. It didn't say anything, but its spells did hurt.
And maybe she was proving to herself that she was brave, like she had been sorted. She'd never duelled anyone much older than her before. She hoped that it would be just as much fun as duelling her friends Gerald, Ryan, and Ruby.
It looked like she had it in the bag for most of the match.. and then Lucky came out of nowhere with a silencing shot! Tiana's wand was knocked from her hand, her mouth open in disbelief. Before she went to retrieve her wand, she took a minute to process the outcome. She lost but she learned a lot from just that one duel with Lucky. The main lesson being that she should never underestimate her opponent! Thomas snapped back to reality and collected her wand, pouting just a tiny bit. She walked back over to Lucky and offered him a high-five.
“Good job,” she smiled. She was genuine in her congratulations, although a little sad that she lost. Tiana heard another voice calling from out in the crowd. She located the source, a girl she had seen around the common room a few times in the past. Thomas didn't know her, but believed she was a first year. The Gryffindor Quidditch Captain beamed and approached the girl after leaving Lucky to celebrate his win. “Go get him and do us proud,” she whispered with encouragement. Tiana liked Lucky, but she was rooting for her house to take the next one!

He tagged Tiana's hand, giving her a nod. 'Good match.' He smiled at her, chipper over his victory. He didn't think he was going to win that one, especially with how it had been going after he cast his first offensive spell. Tiana had hit him with offense and defense, leaving him feeling like he had no chance in hell. But, it wasn't over until it was over. Lucky knew that his most recent attack would be his last chance at securing a victory, so he was thrilled when it panned out how he wanted. He fixed his sleeves, as he watched Tiana and another girl talk.
Supposedly that was his next opponent. He gave the younger girl a shrug, before noticing that she was almost two times smaller than him. Yikes. Was this even allowed? He didn't want to hurt her or anything. 'Step right up, little lady.' Was it offensive that he called her little? It was just a figure of speech. He hoped she knew that. He cracked a faint smile, readying himself for the impending match. 'You wouldn't happen to know Ruby Farrowbrooke, would you?'
Without any sort of warning, he lunged at her with a lash of his wand. He liked employing that strategy. Distracting his opponent with conversation. Even though she was younger and smaller than him, he wasn't going to go easy on her. But hey, maybe she'd surprise him.

Even though he liked that particular strategy, that was the second time it didn't work. Maybe it was time to rethink what he employed? Lucky's wand flung out of his hand, spiraling onto the ground behind him. He stared at the younger girl, clearly underestimating her. She was more skilled than she looked. He wiggled his finger at her. 'You're a tricky thing, aren't you?' He grinned, taking a few steps backward before kneeling down to pick up his wand. He kept his eyes on her, not diverting his attention to anyone or anything else. He couldn't risk it.
Lucky approached her again, keeping a reasonable distance between them. He was ready to go. 'Alright, let's try this again.' He was more talking to himself than to her, his words soft and somewhat inaudible to everyone in the room. Lucky got into stance, his wand pointing toward the Gryffindor. If she was anything like Tiana, she would continue to prove to be tricky, but maybe her lead would burn out quickly? He flicked his wand with a little more power, no longer worried about hurting her in the slightest. She seemed trained to duel, and so was he.
