An active, character-driven Hogwarts experience set in the early 2000s. Unique items, plots, and features. Non-canon; this isn't Harry Potter's story, it's ours.
Amara is menacing and headstrong. She's heavily sarcastic and intolerant, usually ignoring Muggleborns as she believes herself (and all purebloods) to be superior – ideals instilled in her from a young age. She's stubborn, confident in her own skills, and determined to be the best. Her bluntness often comes off harsh and judgmental. She's cunning and ambitious, but has an attitude that makes people avoid her in fear of what she'll do.
Amara listens to her friends and associates, but doesn't care what anyone else thinks of her. She likes to be in charge – striving for control over people and situations. If she controls them, they cannot hurt her. Vulnerability is something Amara fears. She spirals into a rage when feeling cornered or helpless, using violence and insults as a way to protect herself. She doesn't trust easily, as her trust was broken by her own parents. She's never recovered from that.
She struggles with emotions, making her erratic and unpredictable when in a bad mood. Her confidence comes off as arrogant, and she's deceptive to those she deems unworthy of her time or company. She's outspoken and refuses to endure things she doesn't want. Despite all this, she works hard at school and doesn't mind taking the time to study or practise magic. She discovered a love for Potions, and deeply respects Professor Snape for his variety of skills and how he deals with people.
Amara has become something of a protector of her house, wanting to ensure no one from other houses treats them poorly or looks down on them – she believes weakness and failure should never be what reflects their house. Despite the obvious danger she poses to people, those in her house at least know she'll stand up for them and punish those who act against them – earning herself the title of their Queen. She gained it in 3rd year and hadn't taken it seriously at first, but now she does. It's grown her leadership qualities in a more positive way than simply trying to control people or rise above them.
It's a long work in progress, but there's hope for her yet. Amara doesn't realise that, thinking she's ruined and if people can only see her as a monster then she may as well be one.

Backstory
The Seabrooks are well known in the Wizarding world for good and bad reasons. They're wealthy and influential, which Amara was taught to be as well. Her father always wanted a son and perhaps that's why he added pressure to Amara to live up to what he was – to be how he wanted her to be. When younger, she'd yearned to please her father yet never truly could. In time, she learned it was a waste of effort and the cruel man wasn't what she wanted to be. However, Amara doesn't have the experience and understanding to realise they're very alike in the ways she doesn't want. Her cruelty to others is different to his, yet still spiteful and dominating.
Her mother was in Ravenclaw, but everyone on her father's side were Slytherin. She had a miserable childhood filled with etiquette lessons, private tutors, and an over-bearing father who treated her as if she was never good enough to be his child. He tried to control every aspect of her life, leading Amara to emotional breakdowns until she was old enough to try running away into their huge back garden.
Her mother was absent most of her life, always taking long trips by the sea to see family and friends. She said she wanted to take Amara too, but it never happened.
The family Amara is close to are her two cousins. Oliver Tequay (who's her age) and his mother invited her to stay with them over the summers or any chance they could. Her other aunt and uncle had Kaia when Amara was about five. The two girls grew up very close, though family conflicts kept Kaia's parents very busy so Amara and Oliver would often babysit her. It was with Oliver and Kaia that Amara's kindness shone bright, growing her need to always protect them when they needed her.
When she was nine, Amara learned of dark family secrets enacted by her father and grandfather – from then on, she'd grew to hate her father even more and became rebellious despite many punishments for it.
By eleven, Hogwarts was a dream come true. Amara finally fit in and quickly became popular among her peers. She grew a reputation of being someone not to mess with, though joining the Quidditch team in second year added to her status among the school as her skill for the sport gave her increased confidence. She never goes home for the holidays as it only results in pain and hurt, so she stays at Hogwarts - the place she considers her real home.
