Standard Classrooms - 1st to 5th years

OOC notes: requires use of the Potion-Making feature, which may be difficult to implement if posting via mobile. Every icon must be correctly used and ordered for a successful potion at the end, to match the complex nature of the subject -- though a fewer range of icons may be used (as opposed to with the Potions Kit outside of class). This class can be very dangerous if your character isn't careful.

Professor Snape has been teaching for many years. He is attentive and strict, with the impression that there's zero room for mistakes. Many claim he has a bias towards Gryffindor students, whereas others say he has higher expectations for his own house. Opinions are mixed, but many agree he is a tough (and often harsh) teacher who doesn't hesitate to dock points or hand out detentions.

OOC notes: relies heavily on Free-RP. When given a task to transfigure something, you have full freedom to determine how it goes and their level of success. Given how difficult the subject is, the class task is considered complete if you've spent at least 2 posts working on it. Rather than being based on if they succeed or fail -- or achieve a partial-transfiguration, which is most common.

Professor McGonagall has been teaching for many years. She is rather strict, but has the respect of her students and isn't considered unreasonable; she has a similar straight-forward and no-nonsense approach as Professor Snape, but with far more patience or fair consideration.

OOC notes: primarily focuses on note-taking, answering questions, and exploring the subject matter from different perspectives. It not only encourages student participation, but also rewards it at a higher rate than most other classes.

Professor Archerose started teaching last year. He has a contagious love of history, and is trying to rebuild the subject's reputation following the dull and limited curriculum offered by Professor Binns, who finally left the post after many centuries teaching it as a ghost. The brand new classroom (requested over the summer), combined with Professor Archerose's enthusiasm, breathes new life into the subject itself.

Professor Hathmore started teaching last year. This is a challenging class, and oftentimes very dangerous. The Professor is a non-nonsense teacher who frequently puts students on the spot or throwing them head-first into a wide range of situations. Despite his often controversial and risky methods, he is attentive to his students, and believes they'll rise to the occasion. In fact, he expects it.

OOC notes: often relies on a combination of Free-RP and modded outcomes -- while still allowing you to a level of freedom to choose differing results and determine their level of success.

Professor Rivera started teaching last year. She's popular among the students, and her lessons tend to have an element of interaction or playfulness; many tasks are done in the form of competitive challenges or games. Charms class, under her teaching, has already established itself as a creative learning experience -- but no less serious or complex than that of DADA.

OOC notes: You must own a 6-sided die, which is used for the self-modded lessons. Online dice / generators are unreliable as not truly random. We've also found that the physical action of rolling a die makes it more personal and increases immersion, as well as fairness. Also keep in mind that predictions, especially if made by the Professor, should be worked into your future RPing.

Professor Traddles is new this year; not much is yet known about him or his teaching methods.

This is an elective subject.

Professor Sprout has been teaching for many years. She can be firm and non-nonsense when it comes to the subject matter, but relaxed or whimsical when interacting with her students or tending to non-plant matters. She is widely beloved by members of her own house, as well as others -- with a consistent manner of treating them equally and as capable individuals. But expect to be called out for any foolish plant-handling or a lack of common sense.

However, this class very hands-on and can be very dangerous if your character isn't careful; they may be kicked out if behaving recklessly or with disregard for the creatures involved.

Professor Fairburn started teaching last year. She can be strict with her students, when required, but encourages them to question things and have an open mind. She's world-famous for taking down poaching rings, and her ongoing activism -- including courageous rescues and rehabilitation of magical beasts. Her methods often cause conflict with educational higher-ups, but it doesn't deter her. Though drastically different subjects, COMC is often compared to that of Potions or Herbology.

This is an elective subject.
