An active, character-driven Hogwarts experience set in the early 2000s. Unique items, plots, and features. Non-canon; this isn't Harry Potter's story, it's ours.
And it arrived after a strangely turmoil night. Many students had trouble sleeping, for a variety of reasons -- and some, for apparently no reason at all. The sky was cloudy now, but throughout the night it bordered on a hit of a storm that never came. Students remained restless, particularly as there was no avoid exam preparations now.
The Great Hall was tense with studious energy, with many tried to cram while eating the least messy breakfast they could pick out. The Professor seemed relatively calm, though Professor Archerose brought his notes to breakfast as well.
Even after the time that had passed since the destruction, the Quidditch Pitch remained unchanged in its charred state. The boundary fog, at least, seemed to have dissipated a bit. Or was that wishful thinking? Either way, it once again meant time passed right on by what would have been a match day. Gryffindors and Ravenclaws weren't too pleased about that, yet perhaps the extra time to study would somewhat make up for it? Even if it was the far less fun option.
The end of school term was on the horizon now. The days of relaxation or mucking about with friends were gone, unless during brief and well-deserved breaks between studying or the last of their classes. The entire Hogwarts staff were present this morning, including the tired-looking Headmaster who seemed to have had the most restless night of all.
Student schedules were magically assigned to everyone who sat at their house table... and earned a few exclaims of surprise or concern from 4th years, who discovered something rather unusual about theirs. But either way, these were the very last lessons of this year. It was bittersweet to some, and a celebration to others -- if only it didn't mean exams were right around the corner.

Drooping in her seat, MJ fought to keep a yawn at bay. It had been a weird night. She had had fun studying with Charlotte but after that, it seemed impossible to get to sleep.
She glanced over her class schedule while attempting to butter a slice of toast. The first few times her knife missed the butter dish completely. This time the yawn won and MJ knew she would need to wake herself up.
If she was this sleepy, how was she going to stay on her broom?
Maybe her sleepiness came from the unending disappointment at Quidditch being cancelled. She couldn't even bring herself to look out towards the pitch anymore.
Charlotte had woken up nervous, yet again, since today was the last flying lesson of the year. She wanted to do this, she had to do this, for herself. Granted, her parents seemed to have little care about the lesson itself, but for Charlotte, she felt like it was important. She had freshened up as best she could before she headed to the Great Hall and saw a rather sleepy MJ already there.
After checking over a few things, she headed over towards MJ and sat down with her.
"Good Morning," she said as she began to place some food on her plate, including grabbing some Nuts and Apples for later.
Amelia was aggravated to say the least, especially since Quidditch was out for the rest of the year. It was annoying, but it was gonna have to be alright. She arrived at Breakfast with her normal demeanor and headed towards her spot at the table. It was common that she sat in the same general area every morning. It made things simple for her siblings if they needed to find her and it was just force of habit.
Take a look at the lessons for the day, she let out a sigh when she saw it was a relatively good morning, with a interesting afternoon. She groaned when she realized she still had plans to help Snape finish that potion. She assumed that was what the ingredients she had gathered were for.
Well, she would head there after Charms class than. Grabbing some Nuts and an Apple, she put that away in her bag for later. Filling her plate with some eggs, sausage, toast and a small bowl of oatmeal for the morning.

Lindsey had woken up quietly and searched her trunk for her own cloak. It was important she got this done before she left the dorm for the morning. It took a while, but after she found her personal cloak, she put it on to check the length. It drug the ground, that was good and she could pull it over her head. Okay, this was it.
Not wishing to wear it to breakfast, she rolled it as tight as possible, put the potion with the cloak and then headed out.
Lindsey arrived at breakfast without much delay, though searched for her dormmates with a quick eye. She didn't see any of them, so she found a place to sit near where they had sat the day before. Seeing Reena sit with Amara had put a knot in her stomach, but she couldn't exactly tell her friend not to sit with people. Amara hadn't exactly done anything, but Lindsey always felt she was kind of mean or bully-ish. Reena didn't seem like that...
Lindsey began filling her plate with some of her favorites before she looked at her schedule. Taking an Apple while she read over it and placing it in her bag with the cloak and potion.
At MJ's question, Charlotte thought about the night. It had been rough getting to sleep, but she had managed and when she was asleep, she dreamt of having to do the Seeking Charm before Rivera and being scolded. It had been awful... But, did MJ need to hear that?
No.
"It was fine, how about you?" It was too bad that the school year was coming to a close. Charlotte was really starting to feel at peace here and MJ had become someone she really liked to be with.
As the exams were coming nearer, Alice worried, mainly because some of her classmates kept cramming the whole day. She has given many exams in her old muggle school, but what to expect here?
It was not like she was expecting something different. she already knew there would be some theory exams and some practical ones, but these exams would be very different from the ones she gave in her old school.
While walking towards the great hall, Alice passed near the quidditch pitch and wished she could be there instead. Being in the sky with her broom could make her forget about any trouble.
When Alice arrived in the great hall to have breakfast, she found restless students, worried about exams probably. Even Professor Archerose had his notes with him.
On the Ravenclaw table, Alice noticed Charlotte and sleepy MJ. So, she sent a wave toward them before serving herself breakfast.
"Morning, Amelia." She greeted her senior and picked up some nuts and an apple or herself.

The exams were very near. William knew he had prepared well, and now, it was time for good revision. He woke up early morning to revise the transfiguration and brought the same notebook to the great hall during breakfast.
In entering the great hall, he didn't give much notice to the students nearby but did notice some of the Slytherin students and gave them a wordless greeting with a nod.
Before starting his breakfast, he noticed his schedule and something weird in it; the night class. He had no idea what was supposed to happen in that night lass, but he knew better to know that it couldn't be a mistake. There was a night class today.
Keeping his schedule aside, William picked nuts and apples along with his breakfast.

MJ noticed Alice coming into the Great Hall since she was sitting on the side of her house table that faced everyone else.
She returned the wave with a sleepy smile, happy to see her Gryffindor friend was at breakfast. Surely she would be going to the flying lesson as well?
"A bit weird, if I'm being honest. I had a hard time falling asleep and any time I did, it felt like I was awake again in minutes." She admitted to Charlotte, finally eating her jam on toast.
She busied herself by pouring out some orange juice as well, "You going to our flying lesson this morning? The sloth grip lesson was a lot of fun, right?"
Hopefully Charlotte would come along. MJ was always happy to see her room mate on a broom with her.

Oscar was not yet fully awake as he shuffled into the Great Hall and over to a seat at the Hufflepuff table. The panic of exams being right around the corner had managed to get through to him last night, resulting in some frantic study attempts and then a very bad night of sleep when he finally passed out.
To put it nicely he was a mess that morning. And he was not even an OWL student yet. Oscar did not think that he ever wanted to be an OWL student if that was how he reacted to his fourth year exams.
His outlook of the day did not improve when he looked at his timetable only to find out that he had Potions first thing that morning. That lovely bit of news was met with his head hitting the table.
He allowed himself to wallow in his self pity for a long moment before he lifted his head to squint at the rest of his timetable. Care of Magical Creatures in the afternoon, that sounded better-...
Wait.. no. Did that say night?
Oscar pulled his timetable closer to double check what he was reading and then, when it did not change, looked around in an attempt to find any of his year mates. He wanted to find out if his timetable had an error or if they really had a class at night.
He really hoped his timetable had an error.
Normally Oscar would look forward to his Care classes, but that timeslot had really thrown him off. Why did it have to happen on that particular day? He knew that he would just want to sleep by that time of day.
What were they even going to be learning about? A nocturnal creature maybe?
Care may be his favourite class, and he may love creatures, but he was suddenly drawing a complete blank on any creature that they could be learning about. Wow did he need to study.

Ezra was in a much better mood for breakfast than he had been the previous morning. Exams were fast approaching and, even as he wondered if he should be more concerned about them, Ezra was excited to find out what they were like.
Well, that, and for them to be over. If exams were over then he was one step closer to getting to have his family together. He smiled just at the thought of that.
That smile only increased as he spotted a pair of familiar faces at the Ravenclaw table.
"Hi, MJ," he greeted as he sat down opposite her. He felt very lucky to have found people so easily that morning. "Hi, Charlotte! How are you both?"
Ezra reached to put a handful of nuts and an apple in his pocket for later with one hand, the other going for his timetable.
Flying and Transfiguration. He wondered if flying class was still optional.. and if he would be going to it.

Thorne staggered in to breakfast, rubbing sleep from his eyes. The warmth of spring always made him restless; he wanted to do things! Go places! Have adventures! Even the threat of a storm that never came last night had seemed perfect for said adventures. But right now...
Food and classes and studying. More studying than he'd ever done in his whole life. Studying that required sustenance! He snagged a handful of nuts and an apple and tucked them away for later.
Snacks secured, he yawned as he helped himself to a pair of perfectly toasted crumpets, slathering them with butter and jam, and two fried eggs. He inhaled the first, washing it down with orange juice before he slowed to eat the rest of his breakfast at a much peaceful pace.

Sinead made her way down to the Great Hall for breakfast, She entered the hall and headed straight for the Slytherin table. She looked around the table as she arrived and spotted her older sister who was sat with her friends and her fellow housemate Lindsey.
Sinead slid into a seat next to Lindsey as she got herself something to eat and looked down at her timetable for the day, Her first class was one of her two favourite subjects, Potions and Sinead had a lot of respect for Professor Snape. As she glanced down the schedule further, her brow furrowed upon noticing the class of her other favourite subject, Care of Magical Creatures, was at night.
Sinead felt a little uneasy about the fact the class was at night. Having it during the day was one thing, but a night time class was a whole other ball game in Sinead's opinion and she wondered if the creatures involved in tonight's lesson where inherently more dangerous than normal. She pushed the unwelcome thought to the back of her mind and gave Lindsey a smile before she focused on her breakfast,
Saoirse crawled out of bed early that morning. She was exhausted from her questing, and had barely paid any attention to her studies because of it. She'd only stopped to slip some twine through the hole on her shield medallion to be used as a necklace before falling into a deep sleep. But she had been plagued by strange dreams, and memories of the scroll.
She had dreamed of her father, standing on the cliff next to his lighthouse, falling into the sea as the ground crumbled beneath him. A funeral without a body. Saoirse had woken up with tear-stained cheeks. Unwilling to sleep longer and risk another terrifying nightmare, she had gotten dressed, done some studying, and eventually made her way to the Great Hall.
Saoirse shuffled over next to Alice, piling her plate high with eggs and bacon. She also took an apple and some nuts for later. She eyed the schedule. There was one last flying lesson. Saoirse had skipped the last two. Maybe it was time for her to face her fears and attend this one. She slurped up her bacon as she considered, looking at Alice.
