#19 Arrived with meat

Hagrid came out soon from the door. HE looked like he was in a hurry to go somewhere, and he answered the question himself. It was already lunchtime, and he was also hungry, but since he was already here, he could at least ask.

"Yes, Hagrid," William said. "I was preparing for exams and wanted to know which creatures I should focus on?" He asked. It would be the perfect use of the free day.

William's eyes wandered to the sleeping fang on the bed and hoped that he remained asleep till he was done with his work.

Maybe that really was a question for Professor Fairburn. Later on, he could check with him. There was something else in his mind. William could talk about that for now.

"Okay. Hagrid, I have heard about some Boarites. Can I see them? I have also bought some food for them?" He said. Hopefully, Hagrid wouldn't mind that. More importantly, Fang stays in his position for some more time.

William was almost worried that he came here with false hope; There were no Boarities here, but gladly it was not true. "Yes, Hagrid, I have brought some meat and apple. I hope they would like it." He said. The meat and apple were fresh because he collected them only a few hours ago - Apple from breakfast and meat from the kitchen.

It was a subconscious stepping back for William when he heard Fang's voice. Fang looked at him and went to sleep again. William was still getting used to Fang. Every time he reminded himself that he was just like any other creature who wouldn't harm us until we tried to do the same. But still, his voice scared him every time.

William handed the meat and apple to Hagrid and soon received a bucket full of food for Boarities. The food almost got doubled the amount it was before.

Fang woke up for a moment and tried to sniff the meat but luckily lost interest and went to sleep again. William knew he should work on his fear of Fang. After all, it was just a sweet-looking dog, but a huge, dangerous one. Maybe one day, he could try to spend some time with Fang, then his fear would go away.

William couldn't help but notice the stuff around on Hagrid's table. He had heard that Hagrid knew almost everything about different creatures, not sure if more than Professor Fairburn or not.

William took the bucket from Hagrid. "Thanks, Hagrid." He said and tried to smile at him before leaving.

It was quite an odd sight to open his door to, being presented with a lump of wrapped meat. Fang whined, sniffing the air, though didn't budge from his comfy bed. It was nearing dinnertime anyway, so he was content to wait a little longer. Unless she decided to gift it to him, of course.

'Ah. Hello there.' Hagrid shook off his confusion, assuming she was there for the same reason as William a moment earlier. Slytherins were strangely in sync with some of their tasks these days. 'Are yeh hoping teh feed some homeless Boarites? Or are yeh here to make Fang's day?'

Fang whined with utter disappointment, slumping his slobbery chin back onto his cushion.

'Yeh have an apple as well?' Hagrid asked, waiting for that second ingredient before he accepted it and the meat from Kassia. 

He headed into the hut, and to his workbench -- repeating the same process as he had for William a moment earlier. He chopped the food, then added powdered gemstones from velvet sack. It was so pristine and valuable-looking that it seemed very out of place in his hut. The mixture, which had somehow doubled in the process of mixing it, were then scooped into a bucket.

'A housemate of yours, William Doren, was here just before yeh,' Hagrid said, handing off the bucket to Kassia. 'If yeh take this ter the Forest Path, I reckon yeh could still attact some of the herd of Boarites that he missed. Once yeh have a few, lure them until yeh find Professor Fairburn. Yeh will probably hear her, if William's done his job well.'

Hagrid then waved her off, and packed away some things. 

'Might want teh hurry along,' he added. 'Almost time fer dinner, after all.'
