When his flying lesson ended, Ezra had all but skipped down to Mr. Hagrid's house. The skipping had only really been stopped by the snow on the ground.
He'd had fun in his flying class after getting to partner with Charlotte, but as soon as it had ended his focus had zoomed straight to what he had found out in Charms that morning. He had a Herbology kit to earn and, hopefully, a new spell to learn! And he had been told that Mr. Hagrid was the person to start with, so of course that was his first stop when he had free time.
Ezra stretched up to knock on the door as soon as he reached it, too eager to waste any time by pausing and looking around. He was practically bouncing where he stood as he waited for an answer, his excitement making it hard to stay still.
The hut was unusually quiet, though there was movement inside. Then Hagrid opened the door to greet the young Ravenclaw -- and the source of the quiet proved to be Fang, curled up asleep in a mound of blankets and cushions in a corner. Someone at the door? Not his problem.
'Hello,' Hagrid warmly greeted Ezra. 'How can I help yeh?'

"Hi, Mr Hagrid!" Ezra grinned up at Mr. Hagrid when he opened the door. He peeked around the giant man in an attempt to see the dog that he knew lived with him, and was briefly sad to see that Fang was asleep. Oh well, he could say hello next time. At least he hoped there would be a next time. It would be a real shame if he never got to meet the big dog in all his seven years at Hogwarts.
"Do you have a pot I can borrow, please?" he asked, looking back up at Hagrid. He tried to keep his voice down so as not to disturb the dogs peaceful sleep.
'Won't be a moment.' Hagrid nodded, heading back into his hut and over to a workspace near the back. He filled a garden pot with some fresh soil, then heavily placed in into the arms of the small first year. 'There yeh go. Is there anything else yeh need?' he asked, even though the afternoon was nearing it's end.

Ezra bounced on his toes, trying to peek around to see what Hagrid was doing when he went back into his house. He could have waited patiently to find out, but where was the fun in that? He had held his excitement in enough already that day.
His curiosity was soon answered as a heavy weight was dumped in his arms and he barely avoided dropping it. Oh! Mr Hagrid had filled it with soil for him too! That was very helpful.
"No, that's all." Ezra grinned up at him. "Thanks, Mr Hagrid! Have a good dinner, bye!" He had only just realised how late it was himself. Maybe he wouldn't have time to learn that new spell after all. That was no fun, but there was always another day.
With his goodbyes said, he turned around to head back to the castle, his pace much slower since he had to lug the heavy pot.
