With the still somewhat frustrating feeling of being rejected yet again for information she thought was important fresh in her mind, Grace tried to be in a better mood as she headed up the stairs. She waved to the Portrait of The Fat Lady as she passed by.
The raven portrait was her goal, or more specifically, the artefact room. She hoped it would be easier to find, especially since she believed it was right to return her talisman to the room. Grace considered whether or not she would need to use the second invisibility potion she'd bought from the deal kid or not. Maybe the mirror would just remember her and let her in.
Or maybe just holding the talisman would mean that the raven portrait opened to a different room entirely, one that was filled with cool stuff and something that Grace could show to her friends when she told them about what was going on. If she told them. It might be spoilers for her autobiography, after all.

Grace remembered the reflection, and waved cheerfully at it. When it did not seem to stand aside for her awesome power, she sighed and pulled out the second invisibility potion that Lucas sold her. It had been a good investment, but she had been hoping to use it to go do something more sneaky when she needed to. Oh well. She could probably make one for herself later.
She poured the invisibility potion over the same blanket as before, since it had reverted back to being visible. She expected more of the same, the blanket becoming invisible. Once again, she was incredibly careful not to pour it on herself directly, just in case it was big poison or something like that.
When she was done pouring the potion over the blanket, she draped it over herself and waited for her reflection to disappear.
Invisibility Cloak added to inventory; lasts until Midnight.
When she entered, the other side of the rippling mirror changed back to a raven painting to anyone else who may wander by while Grace was busy within the secret room.
The Artefact Room was just as she'd left it. The stone walls seeming to predate the castle. The sense of ancient importance. And the sense of history imbued in its very magic.
She could cross the wide room in several steps. The main wall, with its four alcoves built / melted into the stone seemed to sense her progress -- as if it called to her. Each stone plinth, engraved with a house crest on the wall behind it, seemed unchanged except the air felt thicker.
The Gryffindor crest was irresistible, as if awaiting her to approach it.

Grace entered the Artefact Room, the same sense of wonder came over her. She made her way over to the main wall, eyes wide. The Gryffindor crest had the strongest pull over her, and Grace took a deep breath before walking over to it. She was initially cautious to take the talisman out, afraid she was going to drop it. She quickly got over it and pulled it out.
Maybe the stone plinth wanted the artefact. That would make sense. What was an artefact room with no artefacts? Grace was still hoping for a magical knife, or failing that a magical sword. She held the talisman above the plinth, but did not yet put it down, fearing that she might be doing something wrong.
It didn't matter Grace's intentions -- once it was above the plinth, there was quite a magical reaction. The Gryffindor crest on the wall glowed deep scarlet, and the talisman was pulled from her grasp to hover itself above the plinth. Magic swirled around it, locking the artefact in place; even if she dared try, it could not be removed.
The exit from the room sealed itself. Grace was trapped.
Then a painful vision showed Grace a scene of Godric Gryffindor himself in that room, providing his blood to the artefact. Then it faded, as did the glowing crest.

Grace cried out in pain as the vision overwhelmed her. Why were visions painful? She'd have to ask a teacher about that later. As soon as it was over, she whipped her head around to see if some creature was going to attack her. Convinced that, for now at least, she was safe, Grace then realized that her exit was closed off. Well, there went any hopes of just turning around, not that Grace had even considered doing so.
Maybe the artefact was hungry for blood. Well, it was out of luck. Grace couldn't think of any way to get her blood out of her, unless maybe she bit her lip really hard, and she didn't really want to kiss the artefact. She searched through her bag, wishing that the artefact had really turned into a knife. That way she could at least put some blood on it, like Gryffindor did.
Grace pulled out one of the horns that she'd bought for potions use, and decided it might suffice for a light stabbing. She decided her little finger was the one she would miss the least if anything happened. She held her hand above the artefact as she pressed the point of the horn into her little finger, hoping to give the artefact a little blood.
She also considered it just a little gross that she'd been carrying around something with blood on it for a while, but there were more pressing matters to deal with.
The horn did the trick, and the artefact only needed a drop to be fulfilled. Unfortunately, her use of the horn had contaminated the ingredient and it could no longer be user in potions.
The talisman glowed bright. With a burst of harmless power, a magical pulse spread from the object and filled the room in all directions. It went into the walls, then was gone.
The exit reappeared, and a sense of peace washed over Grace.

Grace's eyes widened as the talisman glowed. Would it finally turn into a magical sword for her to show off to her friends? She was somewhat disappointed that it didn't, but as the exit appeared, Grace felt much better. She cheered for herself and headed out the exit before it could seal itself off again.
While she felt peaceful, she was also uncertain what she was supposed to do, now. Shouldn't a grown-up be patting her on the back or giving her house points for doing something special? Maybe she just had to wait a little bit. She walked out of the room anyways, hoping just a little that someone would be waiting for her outside to congratulate her.
