The Great Hall was warm and inviting, lush with the Christmas Eve spirit. Many were still dressed warmly, though admired the snowy ceiling -- which added to thee atmosphere of twinkling Christmas tress around the hall, and the delicious scent of dinner. It wasn't a special feast, as some had hoped, but there were a few festive additions to enjoy.
As with breakfast, being the holidays, school uniforms were allowed for those who preferred it, even more chose to go with the holiday freedom of them being optional. Not everyone celebrated Christmas or were in the mood to partake, but the warm food after a cold day was always appreciated. This year had an addition of bowls containing moon-shaped pasties. Each had one of give random fillings: apple pie, pumpkin, caramel fudge, gingerbread, and custard.
The house tables remained, though those who'd stayed at Hogwarts for the holidays in the past would know tomorrow night used to be more special -- it was only a matter of seeing if Headmaster Rickard would keep to that tradition. Slytherin remained mostly the same, but there were notable gaps at the other three houses since many had gone home for the holidays that morning.

Oscar could have been sensible when he sat down at the Hufflepuff table for dinner. He could have filled his plate with a proper meal straight away and eaten it like a good little boy, greens and all. Oscar could have done all of that, but he didn't.
Instead he had zeroed in on the little moon shaped pasties and flashed back to missing out on its scrumptious looking star-shaped equal at breakfast. Well not this time! He was going to take no chances at this meal to let them pass him by again.
He reached straight for a pasty, picked one at random and started to eat it after flipping it around in his hands briefly to see if he could guess the flavour first (he couldn't).
His eyes lit up as the flavour hit him - it was like a hot apple pie! Oh, that was good! Really, really good. Just eating pasties for dinner was reasonable, right? ..Nanna would be so disappointed in him if she ever found out, so maybe not. But it was so warm and delicious! The temptation was high.
Oscar enjoyed the rest of his pasty before he finally turned his attention to the rest of the hall. He reached over the table so that he could pour himself some juice from a jug as he looked around, taking in the various students that remained.
Alice came to the great hall in a happy mood. She had done a lot of interesting things today and already have plans for what to do after dinner.
She took a seat at Gryffindor table. The hall was much less crowded than it used to be on usual days, probably because many of the students had gone home. She looked around a little but couldn't find many familiar faces.
She could concentrate more on the food in front of her. She filled her plate with some of the less interested but healthy food. She has chocolate pudding and Christmas pastry for breakfast. So, now she needs some different food. But still, she was able to fit one Christmas pastry in her plate.

Lindsey had come back from the village, said 'Farewell' to the group she had been with and headed to the Slytherin Dungeons to put her purchases away. After leaving a small treat for Mungo on her table, she headed out for dinner. She wore a long sleeve sweater, her mother's favorite clan brooch near the top of the sweater and a pair of jeans. It was nice to be able to be comfortable and she made a bee-line for the door of her dorm and left.
It wasn't a far trip to the Great Hall and soon she was walking through the doors and smiling at the beautiful sight. She found her a place to sit and quickly began to put things on her plate to enjoy. Though she was at the Slytherin Table, tomorrow she planned on joining the group of friends she had been with during the afternoon. It would be nice to be around other people outside of her dorm.
She enjoyed the moon-shaped pastries, grabbing one that held the flavor of pumpkin and closing her eyes in bliss. It was amazing in flavor and she let out a satisfying groan.
Jamie had stuck to the dorm room most the day. It was cold and he had chosen to read a good book instead. Tonight was Christmas Eve and he would get to spend the even with Grace. He was excited, but also nervous. He had not stayed in another dorm and didn't know what it was like. Where they all the same? What was different about them? Once he had made it down from the tower, he went into the Great Hall and found a place to sit down and enjoy dinner.
It was nice and the pastries were delicious, especially the caramel fudge. It was delicious and he was enjoying it as he sat by himself.

Elizabeth sat down to dinner, pleased that she wasn't late. She could think about Peeves and Filch tomorrow. For now, she filled her plate as much as she wanted to and then began to eat her dinner at the relaxed pace she was used to. There was never any scarfing down of food for a Doren. Elizabeth had learned her manners a long time ago.
Why anybody would want to show that they were so rude as to just slurp down all their food was something Elizabeth had wondered about many times when she looked at the other students. Lunch wasn't so far away from now, and she never felt starved arriving at dinner. Of course, she was a prefect...but there were no school rules against bad manners.
She examined some of the moon shaped pasties from afar, but was not yet tempted to grab one, though they did look good. She was still considering if the days activities merited one of the randomly-filled pasties.

Grace was buzzing with excitement as she headed down to dinner. She was thrilled to spend time with her brother for the holidays, but she was equally as excited because she'd found the talisman, even if she had no idea what she was going to do with it.
Typically, she ate dinner with her own housemates, but she was so excited about having a sleepover with Jamie that she decided it wouldn't be too big a deal if she sat with him instead. It was the holidays, after all. "Hi, Jamie!" Grace said, sitting beside her brother. "How was your day?"
The room was abuzz with the excitement that tomorrow promised to bring, but many were conspicuous in their absence. This would be Rylan's first christmas here at Hogwarts, and most of his friends had gone home for the holidays. Still, that didn't mean that he couldn't make the most of things, though he did wonder just how different it would allegedly be under Rickard.
Having already had something of an unusual breakfast that morning, he still managed to fit a few pastries onto his plate as he also indulged in the warm food after what had proved to be frigid day at Hogsmeade. He had enjoyed it well enough, as well as spending time with fellow students that he did not often speak with outside of class.
After christmas, he would try and get caught up on homework, perhaps even return to Rickard's office to conclude his 'investigation'. For now though, he noticed the first year girl that he had spoken to at breakfast, flashing her a smile as he tucked in.
Jamie jumped when his sister joined him, though he should have known she would come over. He smiled and shrugged a little. It had been a rather boring day, but he had gotten some of his own personal things done. He didn't want to be doing homework or something while Grace was there.
"It was good... I just hung out in my common room, mostly." It was the truth, though as he said it, it was obvious that he was such a boring kid. He felt himself grow a little down in the dumps. At least when he was home, he actual felt good. He knew things his sister didn't know, his father kept him busy and he got to go to muggle sports.

Alice's mouth was stuffed with pastry when Rylan sit there. caramel filling was good. She gave herself a minute to finish the piece which was in her mouth.
After finishing, "Hi RylanThis Caramel Pastry is nice. Congrats by the way, for being Heir of Gryffindor"
In anticipation of Christmas tomorrow, many students had already left to have an early night. As per most meals during the Christmas holidays so far, once dinner ended tea or hot chocolate appeared at the end of each house tables as a treat on behalf of the house elves.
Reminder: the Unity Sleepover is still enabled this RPG night for Grace Babineaux to stay with her Ravenclaw advocate @jamie .

Oscar had enjoyed a quiet dinner, having been content to eat in silence and occasionally looking around the hall to make up little anecdotes about various students that he could see and didn't know. He'd had a good day surrounded by various people but the little quiet time was good for recharging his batteries.
As dinner disappeared he debated staying behind for some hot chocolate, but even though it tasted nice he could still remember that morning's disappointment of it not being like home. It was nice of the house elves to supply it but he knew it would just make him homesick again.
Instead he scooped up the napkin that he had stored an extra pastry in and headed back to his common room to enjoy the evening. Maybe if he was lucky he could claim a seat near the warm fire!

The food was awesome, after the dinner got disappeared, a glass of hot chocolate reappeared in found of her. She picked up the glass and drank it, enjoying every sip of it.
After finishing, she got up and headed back towards the common room hopping little bit in between.

Grace was quick to finish her dinner. She would've told Jamie what she'd been up to that day, but she was a bit nervous that he might freak out and tell their mum about what she'd been up to. Some of it was dangerous, after all! Instead, she just nodded and didn't really elaborate on her day.
"Do you wanna go up to your common room now?" Grace said, "So we can start the sleepover?" She was a bit nervous about all the Ravenclaw kids thinking she was weird, but hopefully it wouldn't be too bad. She'd already seen the common room, though of course she couldn't tell Jamie about that, either.
Jamie finished his last bite as the food disappeared and he realized he hadn't grabbed any of the moon-pies for their sleepover. Well, he was sure that there was something in their common room, right? Giving a shrug, he looked at her and nodded.
"Yeah, lets head on up," he said with a smile before they headed out of the great hall and towards the stairs.
