Hanna had made her way to the forbidden forest as soon as she left the Professor. She paced in front of the entrance as she waited for Hathmore to arrive, pulling her robes tight around her body in hopes of staying warm. It wasn't exactly cold out but the forest sent a chill through her whole body.
Hanna eyed the forest as she paced back and forth, her mind racing with thoughts of what they could be doing here. All she knew was that the forest was a dangerous place and you shouldn't go alone. Hanna tried to focus on something else, her eyes moved to the ground trying to find anything that could take her mind of what they were doing.
"Maybe I'll have time to find some ingredients for my potions kit?" She muttered to herself.
I was hard to tell if Professor Hathmore took a while to join Hanna or if it just felt that way because she had nothing to do than stand around waiting. Then she noticed a figure leave the castle and head in her direction. Hathmore was without a cloak or robes, and had his wand in hand.
When he reached Hanna, he gave the tree line a careful glance and nodded. 'I need to retrieve some mucus from a nest deep in the forest. If you still wish to accompany me, I'll teach you the Anti-Spider spell - which you'll need,' he said. 'Be sure you've got the nerve and focus for the task. It'll be up to you to fight of rather large arachnids.'
Hanna listened intently as the Professor spoke, her face paling slightly at the mention of spiders. She hated the creatures, there was just something about them that made her skin crawl. She quickly shook herself from those thoughts before turning to Hathmore.
"I'm ready when you are, Professor" Hanna took a deep breath in after speaking, hoping to calm her nerves. Her eyes looked to the sky as she waited for them to set of, tonight's events in the back of her mind.
Professor Hathmore nodded, then had Hanna practice the simple wand movement.
'This spell repels - or rather, blasts away - acromantulas or other large spiders. It will only work on them,' he explained. 'You need to be direct and aim well. The incantation is: arania exime.' He demonstrated, though nothing much happened since there were no big spiders around to target.
'Give it a try.' It was clear that Hathmore had no intention of proceeding into the forest until Hanna properly learned the spell. It made sense, as was her job to act as their defence once inside, keeping away any giant spiders that tried to attack while Hathmore worked.
It was a lot of pressure on a student, but they wouldn't be there if Hathmore didn't think Hanna was up to the task.
