Jamie headed back to the niffer pit after class, determined to try again for a key. It hadn't worked out this morning and he really wanted to try again. Somehow, he had managed to find a few gems in his search for them this morning.

It didn't take long to find the pit this time and he walked right out to it and sat down.

A dark brown Niffler crawled out from under a bush, gobbling whatever it was he ate too fast for Jamie to identify. He squeaked in surprise, spotting the Ravenclaw sitting on the sandpit. He hurried over, sniffing around for anything valuable.

He peered curious at Jamie. Did the boy have something shiny to share?

Jamie smiled at the little Niffler that came over and he watched as it looked around and then remembers the gems. Pulling them out, he held them up to the sunshine before offering one of the three to the Niffler.

"Want this one?" He asked, keeping the others in his hand and out of reach.

The brown Niffler gently took the offered gem, eyes wide in awe. He hugged it tight, getting lost in his admiration for a moment, before remembering his duty to return the favor. He tucked his gem away safely, then burrowed deep into the sand.

He returned a few minutes later, empty-handed. He sighed, but eyed the Ravenclaw boy - aware he had more gems that could potentially be on offer.

Jamie watched in anticipation and hoping that maybe he would earn himself a reward this time, but when the brown Niffler returned with empty paws, Jamie let out a sigh. Though he had two more gems, this was the second time this had happened and he was starting to feel a little down. It was hard enough being use to a muggle life, now he was failing at something... Even if it wasn't his fault...

"Well, why don't we try again little guy." He said, taking another gem and giving it a little toss in the sand, maybe the area of the sand needed to change? Instead of being right before him, maybe if the Niffler went further out into the Sand he could find another one?

The Niffler accepted it, gave it a delighted hug as it had with the first one, then went burrowing. He was down there a bit longer, yet once again came up empty. The little creature sighed, seeming as down about a lack of success as Jamie was.

He gave the boy a sad look.

Jamie watched with anticipation, but sulked back as the cute guy came back empty handed. Well, looked like luck wasn't on his side and the sad look from the Niffler made him give a smile.

"Its okay, little guy... Here... Last one." Jamie showed him the gem and tossed it into the sand.

The Niffler squeaked in alarm when Jamie tossed the gem, worried it would roll away or someone else would snatch it. He tackled it, hugged it for a full minute, then tucked it away safely. Nifflers clearly had a lot more space to store things than appeared for such a small creature.

Determined, he dove into the sand.

And was gone quite a while.

Finally, his brown head popped back up and he gradually crawled his way out. His paws were empty, but he happily scurried over to Jamie. Once right in front of him, the Niffler reached into his pouch and presented a Bronze Key with a goofy grin of accomplishment.

Jamie chuckled at the Niffler, it was so cute. He really wished her had one of those as his pet. Granted, he didn't have one yet and he was hoping maybe over Christmas. He really couldn't wait until the were home.

Jamie watched with amazement as he dove into the sand and ge leaned over the sandpit. Listening and watching for any movement below. He was gone for a while and Jamie was about to lose hope, when his brown head startled him.

Jamie fell backwards, causing his elbow to hit the ground hard and he sucked air, hissing at himself before he looked at the Niffler as he came up.

"Its okay little guy... you did your..." Jamie was interrupted by the sudden appearance of a bronze key and he smiled brightly. "Wow! You did it little guy! Good work!" He took it with gentle hands and he smiled brightly at the little guy before he stood.

"Thank you." With that, he left the sandpit and headed towards the castle.
