#7 - Trying Things Out

Grace gulped, and decided to choose the door she was closest too. The key didn't seem to be having any reactions to anything, and she could see herself getting stuck here for the rest of the afternoon picking doors to try to unlock. As it was, she tried to remain upbeat.

She inserted the key into the door's lock and tried to turn it. Grace really hoped something would happen. She didn't feel like talking to Professors on Halloween, and she didn't know if they would just try to take her magic special nothing key away from her.

Grace nearly dropped the key, and was glad when it vanished. The room inside was quite odd to her, and she was nervous to see the larger book with names. She tried to think if she knew any of the names, but they were all unfamiliar to her.

The last name was the only one she knew, and not well. As this was her first year at Hogwarts, she had not met the former headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, but she knew there had been many whispers when Headmaster Rickard had stepped in to the position about what might have happened to Dumbledore.

Glancing at the inkwell and the fancy quill, Grace could draw only one conclusion. That her name was supposed to be in this book as well. She picked up the quill and dipped it into the ink, much like she did before writing essays. Then, she tried to write her own name, as neatly as possible. She wouldn't want anybody to get it wrong.
