Arthur did like the clocktower courtyard. He'd gone there often as a first year when he wasn't sure how something worked and just wanted some time alone for a while, without any of those other kids telling him how he'd messed up, how things worked in the wizarding world. They had good intentions, sure but it had always been a little weird being in a world everyone else understood completely when you were feeling homesick.
When he got there, he traced his fingers along the walls. He recalled seeing some beetles now and again as a first year, but not exactly where they were. And this wasn't like harvesting the berries or eglower, the beetles would be moving around. A touch more difficulty. Arthur hoped Professor Snape appreciated the amount of work he was doing. At the same time, it was hard to imagine Professor Snape in all his glory catching beetles. Arthur laughed at the thought--there was no one around to hear him, anyways.
Arthur began his actual search for the beetles, focusing on the walls and the corners.
The cloudy sky encouraged beetles to scurry around bushes and benches, though few were the kind he was looking for. It wasn't as if the courtyard was infested with bugs, but their presence was definitely noticed by those who looked hard enough.
The ones Arthur sought preferred the shady underneath of the stone benches. There were two in particular that were exactly what his potion ingredient list specified. The tricky part was while they wandered the ground in a small section of shade, they were alert enough that he'd have to be smart about his attempts to capture one of them.
These were no tiny beetles either, and those pincers looked like they meant business.

Arthur considered his option. He had to get those beetles, since he was already here, and he didn't yet have the gloves he wanted. He gave this a few seconds of thought, and then a few more seconds, for good measure. Stomping on the beetles would make them useless, he assumed. He pulled out his wand and considered which spells he could use.
"Oh, duh!" Arthur said. He was pretty sure that the levitation charm would work on small insects like the beetles, and he could just hold the beetles in his bag if his aim worked properly. With a move of his wand, Arthur said, "Wingardium leviosa." He hoped to levitate it right into his bag, preferably keeping it there until he could hand it to Professor Snape.

The use of the levitation charm worked well, though his aim wasn't the most reliable. He managed to hover one of the beetles, and get it out from under the bench, but then storing it into his bag would prove too much a risk at losing it. Dropping the beetle would render it no longer viable as in an ingredient, as it would likely end up in a rather unfortunate state.
He could hover it to him, but would still need to make a grab at it and hope he didn't get the pincer end. The other beetle had seen its buddy start floating and decided to make its sparse - scurrying under a bush for its relative safety.

Arthur sighed when the other beetle hid itself away. Well, at least he had one floating beetle. He considered his options, though he didn't want to take too much time, unless he really had to. He didn't know how long he could keep this charm going. They weren't really his strong point.
Eventually, he decided to just grab at the beetle, trying to wait until the pincers were as far away from him as possible. He hovered the beetle closer to him and grabbed at it. "Don't bite me." he said, glaring at it. He was also wondering if he would have a chance to grab another one later.
It took some tricky and quick-acted maneuvering, but Arthur was able to secure the beetle without suffering an attack from the pincers. It settled down once carefully stored away, though its floating appearance a moment ago remained a forewarning to other critters nearby.
There was a chance of finding another beetle, if Arthur wanted to take the time to move to another area of the courtyard and quietly search. There was no guarantee, but perhaps there were some left who hadn't noticed the situation posed a threat?

"One down..." Arthur said, securing the beetle, "One to go."Or I could just leave. Professor Snape did say they had to be different ingredients. he thought to himself. But then again, if he demonstrated that he was useful, helpful for collecting the ingredients, maybe Professor Snape would like him more.
Arthur crept around the courtyard, peeking under benches and bushes that he had previously left untouched. Just one beetle, that was all he needed. Just one, and then he could head out to the Forest Path to collect pollen, and he would have all his ingredients for the potions kit, plus the ingredients Professor Snape had requested
He was lucky, as an unaware beetle scurried out from under a bush. It didn't venture too far from its relative safety, ready to dash back under cover at the first sign of trouble. Arthur wasn't too far away, so had to be especially slow and quiet to avoid alerting it.

Arthur held his breath when he saw the new beetle. He was sure he could get it, he just had to be calm. He crept slowly up to the beetle, and then when he was within range, he quickly scooped his hands around it, knowing that the pincers would probably get him, he tried to open his hands after scooping it and pinch it around the middle.
His actions were swift, entrapping the beetle in his hands. He may have secured a viable ingredient, but the beetle did manage to give him a nasty nip with the pincers for good measure, before it surrendered to its fate.

"Ouch!" Arthur glared at the beetle, then tucked it away. If he was quick, he thought cheerily, he could go and collect all that pollen and still be back to Professor Snape before dinner started. He glanced at the pinch on his hand. Well, it probably wasn't too bad, he thought before heading out towards the Forest Path.
All he had to do was get that pollen, show his ingredients to Professor Snape, and maybe he'd be trusted once more! Or for the first time. Once that was all done, Arthur wasn't sure what he would do, though spending time with his pet gimus seemed like a good idea.
