Gerald quickly walked into the Duelling Chamber... Room... Place. It was a big place, and apparently a good place to practice Duelling. Well, if they had to go into the forest at night, Gerald felt like they needed practice, definitely. Practice fighting things, or using their spells as a defence. Whatever the words were.
Looking around, he tried to think of the words to say. Eventually, he decided. "Ready to Duel?"

Grace nodded, and pulled her wand out of her bag. "Yep. No better way to practice scary spells than on each other, right?" she chuckled nervously. They'd need to be able to defend themselves in the Forbidden Forest, and she understood that. "You wanna go first? Is that even a thing people do in duels?"
"Um, I'm honestly not sure. I have some muggle books, but they probably aren't true" He said, moving over to the centre of the room and pulling out his own wand.
"Let's just get this started then?" He shrugged and trying out casting a spell at her. "Um, sorry if it hurts"

Grace quickly defended herself with a movement of her wand. She grinned at Gerald. "Woohoo!" she was pleased with herself, and feeling a little extra confidence than she probably would have if she'd managed to be hurt by the spell. She then blushed a little and realized Gerald had probably taken a little pain. "Sorry. You should go again."
Gerald casts a strong offensive spell (score: 6), and Grace's defensive spell (score: 1) is no match for it. Though it was unlikely to cause much harm, she was affected by the spell. Grace - free-rp the outcome of your choice. Gerald wins the round and match!

Grace was knocked backwards by the spell, feeling a little put out. She wobbled and lost her balance, ending up not-so-gracefully on the ground. "Oof." she chuckled a little, rubbing her arm, though that part of her didn't end up on the ground. She stood up. "Wanna try again? I can start this time."

"I'm fine!" Grace laughed, knowing she would've felt the same if she won the duel. "Besides, monsters in the Forbidden Forest will be scarier!" she made sure he was ready, and then decided to cast a spell. She moved her wand and grinned, hoping she'd be able to at least push Gerald back a little bit.
Grace casts and offensive spell (score: 5), which overpowers Gerald's defensive spell (score: 2). Grace wins this round!
Edit:It didn't change outcomes, only some RP responses - but I edited an earlier mod post where Grace's defensive spell overpowered Gerald's offensive one. During that instance, Gerald should not have taken any damage. It was the first time this new duel system was modded, but I've gotten my bearings now. Sorry for any confusion.

Grace was feeling pretty good about herself. Even if she'd lost the last match, she would want to win this one, even when she was pushed back. She knew it was getting late, that they'd be heading to dinner soon, but she wanted to practice all she could. Besides, she had to think of a good way to get out to the Forbidden Forest, be it tonight or tomorrow night. She hoped she'd be able to sneak out. Grace launched another spell at Gerald, hoping it would be a good one.
