Not paying attention to where his feet carried him, too busy talking to his sister about the classes he had had that day, Kody soon found himself at the edge of The Great Lake. The sound of the water gently lapping over the stones at the edges made his conversation peter out.
He took a moment to enjoy the sounds before turning to Reena, a big smile on his face, "I guess we can get some frogspawn or um!"
The scroll was produced from his bag once more and he scanned over the ingredients listed, "Well, there are other things but some of them need different conditions to be found." Like the fireflies or the Wintercress.
"But there are some things at the boathouse or savannah if you want to try there after I collect some frogspawn?" Kody suggested to his sister, the scroll disappearing back into his bag. He rifled around his things until he saw he had a small, clean jam jar that would be perfect for collecting frogspawn.
Without even a second of hesitation, he set his bag somewhere safe and dry and started to remove his socks and shoes. He did this and watched as the sunlight dappled over the water, causing spots to appear in his vision (which just made him chuckle).

Listening intently to Kody's tale about his classes, she found that the sun on her face and company significantyl lifted her mood once more. She decided that, unless she was assigned prefect duties tonight, she would come and cheer for her brother at Quidditch Tryouts.
Reena took the opportunity of a pause in Kody's story to tell him about the vision she had had in Divination class this morning, of their family owl spilling pumpkin juice. It wasn't a very impressive vision, yet it was a fun one to share.
"I'd also take some Frogspawn if we find enough," she said after considering her ingredient lists for different recipees she wanted to make this year.
"And yeah, I'll actually need to try the boathouse for spider eggs and the savannah for mud toadstool and brittlebush. I know, those aren't as exciting as the creature ones," she added as she watched Kody remove his shoes and socks with a fond smile on her face.
She also needed ingredients found on the forest path but she figured she could go and get those tomorrow as well if they ran out of time. There was a lot of ground to cover here on the Hogwarts grounds.
Copying Kody in removing her shoes and socks, she moved along the shore and inspected some reeds which might make for a good anchor for Frogspawn.
Watching the sun glistening on the lake's surface, she was almost tempted to tell Kody about the mermaid she had met last year and the creature unknown creature with sharp teeth she had fought off with a spell her brother would learn this year.
Yet somehow those memory felt private and she wouldn't know how to start explaining what she had been doing at the bottom of the lake without any swimming skills to speak of in the first place.
She did not want to put any ideas into Kody's head either. He'd better stay in shallow waters and not try to seek out mermaids or play hero and fight that other creature.
She'd just have to hold off from telling him until after he graduated.

"Divination sounds like a lot of fun. It's a shame the classes are on at the same time as Care of Magical Creatures." Kody knew Verity was taking Divination so he hoped she was having a good time. Would she also get a vision about the owl? Or would she learn something completely different?
It seemed like a useful class with regard to their family situation and now he felt a little selfish that he had opted to take Care of Magical Creatures...
This worry was soon gone as Reena talked about the ingredients she wanted to find at the Boat House and Savannah -- which Kody thought sounded like a lot of fun to go find and reassured her by saying, "They're exciting in their own way!"
He waded into the water slowly, his trousers rolled up to his knees to prevent them from getting wet and he liked the feel of the mud between his toes. Kody moved slow and careful, watching a bug skitter over the water and then seeing some ripples that might have been from a frog.
His movements took him over to some reeds like Reena, but in a different spot, carefully brushing them aside with his hands to see if some frogspawn was hidden there. While concentrating, he fell into silence but it was the comfortable kind.
Doing such a task was fun in itself but with Reena along, Kody was having even more fun.
An abundance of frogs, within wading distance of the water's edge, was the best clue in searching for the well-hidden Frogspawn -- found by combing through the nearby reeds. It was a tricky thing to collect or contain, given its goopy form; careful consideration of the task and ingredient were needed.
The frogs wouldn't take too kindly to such thievery; actively trying to interfere or distract anyone set on retrieving their Frogspawn. They were mostly harmless, but made the task difficult and one far more likely to get soaked.

Kody made two mistakes at once.
First he crouched down, which made the seat of his trousers get wet. This, of course, soaked through but he didn't seemed bothered by it because of the second mistake.
Frogs!
His eyes watched as the adult frogs swam around the frogspawn. He had stilled completely after finding the goopy treasure, his container at the ready but now he was too fascinated to do anything. Well, to do anything yet.
He wished he had a book to tell him what kind of frogs there were... Hadn't he read in one of his textbooks about Grenish tadpoles? Maybe these were Grenish frogs then. A few of them swam past Kody and he watched them with a content smile.
It was fun to see them kick their legs as they swam or try to catch flies. Kody hoped they wouldn't mind him staying there for another few minutes. There was a lot for him to take in and he was trying to memorize as much as possible for his Creature Journal.
"Okay... I suppose I need to hurry up and do what I came here to do." Kody mumbled, glancing over to see if Reena had found some frogspawn too. He didn't doubt for a second that his sister had the best ingredient finding skills!
Opening his jam jar, he scooped it slowly through the water, using the lid to gently guide the frogspawn inside. A mass of them glooped into the jar and Kody smiled. That was another ingredient off the list! He raised the jamjar and studied the jelly like substance. The black dots made it seem like a hundred eyes were staring back at him and he chuckled.
He carried the jar carefully in his arms, picking his way back to shore and out of the water. He did his best to use deliberate and slow movements so he wouldn't disturb the water too much.
Once back on the bank, he sat next to his things and waited for Reena to gather her frogspawn too.

"Divination is fascinating, but sadly no precise art,"she said with a shrug. She was not good enough at emptying her mind to see proper prophecies. The one about the owl was about the best she had seen. Or was it?
It didn't matter now. She appreciated Kody's enthusiasm towards her suggestions and smiled weakly as she concentrated on the task at hand.
Wading through the reeds, Reena pushed the legs of her trousers higher as she sank in deeper into the water. It did not take long to spot the first frog and she followed it with her gaze until she saw what she had come here for: Frogspawn.
Reena shoved two frogs out of the way as they circled around thir spawn and got out another container she had brought. She then had to shoo the frogs away again as she gently pushed the soft and jelly-like Frogspawn into her jar and took a step back - only to wince with pain as she had stepped on something sharp in the reeds.
She limped back and let herself drop onto shore, a good way away from the water and inspected her heel. Ah. She had stepped on a sharp pebble, some of it was still stuck in her skin. It had not broken through however, as she noticed upon further inspection and she simply plucked it out and flicked it away.
Her gaze brielfy lingered on a tree not too far away but she tore her eyes away from it and looked at Kody again, suddenly feeling her mood drop.
"You found some as well," she had meant to ask but it came out as a statement.
"Let's get out of here then."
Reena picked up her stuff, carrying her shoes and socks in hand as she allowed Kody to choose were he wanted to go to next, not caring much about where she went.

"Oh, do you have to like, do difficult spells or drink weird potions for it to work?" Clearly Kody had no idea what Divination was like. He had paid attention to any classmates who had talked about it last year since he had been so caught up in Care of Magical Creatures and, honestly, wasn't that the better subject?
Again, he felt bad for a moment as his selfishness reared its head. He had to work on that!
Kody picked up his socks and shoes, the jar of frogspawn now safely tucked away into his bag, and nodded to Reena. They had talked about visiting the boathouse and the savannah so he happily started walking in the direction of one of them.
"I wonder what else we'll find today~" He said in a sing-song voice, a little bounce in his step as he walked alongside his sister.
