“Yeah, it really is. I was thinking about checking out some of the places the book mentions sometime, to see the changes.”
Oliver was interested by the idea. “You should definitely consider doing that. That would be fun.”
When the Hufflepuff mentioned that he loved history, a smile formed on his face. He was glad to find someone who shared an interest with him, especially considering Oliver usually struggled to get along with people. This situation was a rare occurrence. Oliver supposed the older boy being a Hufflepuff also made the interaction easier, considering Hufflepuffs were usually much friendlier and less intimidating.
Then, the boy held out his hand for Oliver to shake, introducing himself as Julius. Oliver completed the handshake with his smile remaining.
Julius's head tilted at the mention of his idea being fun, his own eyes had lit up at this point, and his idea of inviting potentially giving an invite to the Ravenclaw to join him was now stronger after having heard this.
There were a few doubts, what if he refused, what if he didn't enjoy spending time with him? He could never be sure, and his confidence in asking this wavered somewhat, wondering how best to broach the subject with his new friend without upsetting him. He didn't want to upset him after all.
He stayed friendly, not outwardly displaying his doubts, finding himself just as happy when the handshake was initiated and returned. Positively ecstatic to know the name of his new friend, this allowed him to forget his doubts, his hand was placed at his side where he tapped at his right leg.
"Oliver? What if you joined me? You, well you don't have to and if Madam Pince is happy we could take the book with us." A fire lit in his eyes.
Julius had finally settled on an idea of what to do for the day, or perhaps the day after.
The Hufflepuff seemed to be quite happy that the handshake was returned and that he knew Oliver’s name now. Oliver was then somewhat surprised when Julius asked him if he would like to join him, and it showed, as his eyes widened a bit.
“Wait, you’re really asking…me? No one’s ever asked me to go on adventures with them, really.”
At the same time, being homeschooled until going to Hogwarts wasn’t helping. As a result, Oliver didn’t have much of an opportunity to get to make friends and socialize.
“I was homeschooled before going here…so…stuff like this is new for me. I’d love to go, though!”
Perhaps Julius would be Oliver’s first Hogwarts friend. He liked that idea.
"Yeah of course!" Practically bouncing with excitement, Julius clearly didn't get that Oliver had never been asked before, at least not then.
As he listened and watched the Ravenclaw boy he did understand the reaction to asking him to come a lot better.
He wanted to help Oliver feel better and included, that he wanted him to join, "having an adventure with a friend makes it even better, I'd be thrilled if you joined me!" He paused for the moment an idea striking him.
Yet this idea waited, as he was told about how Oliver was homeschooled, this intrigued him as he had never really met someone homeschooled before, at least not that he knew of. he had never had that experience, mostly in public schools, which hadn't always given him the best experiences, especially with his fellow students.
His voice he struggled to keep from getting louder but he did have to know. "Homeschooled? What was that like?" He was curious, but if Oliver didn't want to tell him he didn't mind learning another time.
"I'm ready to go whenever you are, we could even give our adventuring group a name." His eyes twinkled in the excitement of getting to spend time with a friend adventuring and learning history
