The stunt had not affected Amara at all because there was no response from her side except chatting with people around her. Alice was expecting an explosion from the Slytherin side too, but it didn't happen.
The reply actually came from the staff table from Professor McGonagall. Her voice was a clear indicator that it had to end now. She didn't regret the loss of house points or angry glares from older Gryffindors because she knew she had to do this. But only Saoirse and Toby got the detention even though they were definitely much braver than those standing below.
This was a complete failure because all they did was damage themselves and nothing to the real culprit. Now, she was even more annoyed. Not only did she get away with hurting people on the quidditch pitch but also in the great hall, in front of the whole school. It was certain that even the Professors were aware of this but still, nothing happened.
As others started to get out of the hall she did too. When they were in the corridor, she went near to Saoirse, "Are you alright?" She asked.
Today, she learned one thing if you want to fight against sneaky people then you have to become sneaky.

"Yeah, can't be sure because they looked like a person."
Reena shrugged and took a sip from her tea. She felt validated by Lindsey's concern however and was more determined than before to have a chat with her Head of House at some point soon. About the stranger in the forest, and other questions that had piled up in her mind, if she found the courage to ask.
She looked up when a Gryffindor boy jumped onto the Ravenclaw table and shouted towards them, feeling alarmed and seeing Amara place her hand on her wand, she connected her as the receiver of the threats. She just hoped Ezra knew better than to get involved.
Reena felt for her own wand, just as a precaution. Not that a first year by himself posed much of a threat but he was backed up by a second one already. She wasn't entirely sure if it was a show of comradery for Amara or just because of past 'pranks' against Slytherin as a whole.
"Good riddance to all the snow," she said.
Suddenly remembering something else she finished the last of her tea and turned to Amara: "If you see Lucas, would you tell him I'll meet him after lunch, please?"
She smiled, yet did not stick around long after as she picked up her stuff and headed out for class, the professors having handled the first year situation by now.

Toby hadn't imagined he'd get so much support from standing on a table. It hadn't crossed his mind, all he was thinking was that he had to do something and launching himself head first at the Slytherin had seemed like a bad idea at the time. Worst than simply climbing on a table and making a bit of noise.
He felt Joe take his hand and felt his anger fizzle a bit at his best friends touch, until he dropped his hand promptly as the teachers swooped in. He glared defiantly at McGonagall as she ordered them down from the table, did she not see what that ogre did?
Begrudgingly he stepped down from the table to stand by Joe, his jaw clenching in barely contained rage and he and Saoirse received a punishment and Seabrook walked away with nothing. It wasn't fair. Obviously the teachers cared very little for their younger students if they were ready to just allow them to be bullied and thrown around- well Toby wasn't having it.
If the staff weren't going to stand up for them, then they would have to stand up for themselves.
Detention and loss of house points seemed a small price to pay, it was the ban on sitting with his Ravenclaw friends that made Toby's blood boil. He'd find a way around that, and if he failed... At least he still had classes to sit with them.
McGonagall was right about one thing. He had handled it badly. He should've gone over to the Slytherin table and thrown a pot of scalding tea at Seabrook's fat head. She wouldn't be so keen to come at his friends after that, he was sure. He'd happily sit a hundred detentions if he had to.
"House traitor" he muttered behind the teachers back as she swept from the hall- obviously their antics had gotten under her skin. But she should really be upset with herself for not backing her own students and instead getting offended when they tried to defend someone who wasn't in a place to defend himself.
"Come on, I'm in the mood for more torture" he grumbled, taking Joe's hand as they walked from the hall. Obviously his morning would soon get worse, he still had to attend his potions class.

Grace grinned as Professor McGonagall approached. Now that Slytherin was certainly going to get it! When it became more clear that, instead of being rewarded for standing up for their friend/acquaintance, they were being punished, the grin quickly became a friend. Hadn't McGonagall seen what happened? Why weren't any house points being taken away from Slytherin?
Grace decided that perhaps Professor McGonagall was not so perfect. If this was how she considered friends wanting to help someone, then certainly something was wrong with her worldview. They had to see that Joe was covered in porridge! They had to! It was all so unfair.
In a way, she was glad she didn't have to go to detention. At the same time, she was annoyed with the loss of house points. Certainly they'd be behind Hufflepuff now, something that she had just worried about. Not to mention that this was more directly her fault. Maybe she would go to the detention anyways, to protest.
She could hardly argue with McGonagall, but when she turned around to put her wand in her pocket, she made a face. What was the point? She hoped her mum didn't hear about this. "I'll say." Grace agreed with Saoirse, following her to class. "Maybe we'll learn about a poison for the Slytherins after all."

It took Oscar a moment to realise that the echo of 'spring' was not in his head like he thought and so he turned to blink at the small bespectacled human that had said it. Oh right, a first year. In his tired state he had temporarily forgotten that younger students existed. Little babies that were sent away to school.
...What was he doing?
Right, the first year was talking. Sleepy? Him? Only a little bit.
"Mm? Yeah," he yawned, scrubbing a hand over his face. He took a moment to eat more of his breakfast, pulling a face at his mishmash of fruits as he did so. It wasn't his best selection.
He was about to try to think of something to say to the excitable first year, when he heard a commotion at another table. Was.. was that another firstie on a table? What was wrong with that year group?
Oscar blinked confused eyes before turning back to the Hufflepuff kid near him, looking at him warily.
"You're not gonna jump on the table too, right?" he asked. He wondered if it was time to make his escape from the hall, but the call of breakfast kept him in his seat. Well, at least until the food disappeared, then he had to resign himself to going to class.
As he picked up his bag with one hand, he checked his watch with the other. Nope, still morning classes. Oscar sighed and made his way from the hall, a 'see ya' thrown to the first year that he was pretty sure was not a figment of his sleep addled mind.
At least he had managed to avoid whatever drama had gone on at the other table.

Jax nodded his understanding when Nyx told him about her restless night, and was about to reply when things around the table escalated rather quickly. Before he knew what was happening, a couple of Gryffindor first years had climbed up onto the table and were yelling... What had happened to cause such anger among the younger students?
He'd obviously missed it, but he hurried to snatch his cereal out of the danger zone and worked on eating it before some over enthusiastic child could come and knock it flying. Nyx then dismissed herself, her parting words promising to see him in class- now he was alone with an army of angry children.
He wasn't about to stick around to see how things played out, placing his half finished bowl of cereal on the table, he gathered his bag and fled towards the door, passing several teachers as they headed for the table he'd just abandoned. Those first years were in for a world of hurt for disrupting the sanctity of breakfast, but since Ezra hadn't been among the crowd of troublemakers, he didn't particularly care for their fate.
Jax was more focused on heading to class, where more OWL prep awaited.

He'd been so confounded by what was happening at the other tables that he didn't even have the foresight to grab one of the newspapers, eyes wide behind his glasses. When Oscar spoke again, Thorne just shook his head.
"Ah, no, I. I definitely won't do that..."
The food vanished, neatly cleaned up by the dining room spells. Thorne shook his head slightly, bidding farewell to the older boy, and headed out for his morning classes.
