Lindsey was on her third piece of toast and an extra egg when she heard the flapping of wings and looked up. All the Daily Prophets that landed on the table were not taken as quickly as normal, so Lindsey casually took one and opened it up. The picture of her on the front made her drop her fork and smile brightly at it. It wasn't even a moment later that a letter plopped down and she grabbed it quickly. She offered a piece of food to the owl, that was obviously her mother's own owl and opened it.
A Leannan,
I did read about the Auror and it is saddening and very shocking. But, there are many dangers in this world and you should not be hidden from them. As for the girl you wrote about, Elizabeth Doren, I would be cautious. I don't know her personally or her family, though I've heard of the Doren family and I wouldn't want to cause anyone trouble during this time. It might be a touchy subject for her. I would leave it be unless she speaks about it, my dear.
I hope you had fun in the village and thank you for telling me about the ministry worker. I am not very happy about that knowledge and I will be writing personally to someone in the ministry to express my disagreement about that. I will also tell you, right now, I think it would be best to not speak to anyone in the ministry unless with a professor present. I am glad you had tea with the minister and I respect that man, but those individuals you saw in the village, they were doing something they shouldn't be doing without the consent of parents or professors.
Your father and I have arrived in the State of North Carolina late last night and were invited to the home of event organizer. He is a kind man and very generous with his arrangements for us. We will be busy in a few days, so have a wonderful Christmas.
Mòran Gaoil Do Mhàthair
"North Carolina?" she said out-loud, though not towards anyone. She had been there once, in the mountains during one of her father's tripped. It was a summer and she had gone alone with her father, attended a Highland festival and danced with another group of girls. North Carolina was beautiful and the people there were nice.

"Eeny, meeny, miny", Alice sing pointing at each star-shaped pasties. She pick up the last one and put in her mouth cutting a big bite. "Cranberry. Could be better flavor, could be worse also", while taking another bite.
"Hi Rylan", Alice said with an smile when saw him sitting, then she suddenly realize what she had read on the daily prophet.
"YOU ARE HEIR OF THE BALL FOR YOUR HOUSE". She had already shouted this before she could realize it and all the eyes went to her.
"Sorry", She said innocently until she couldn't feel any more eyes.

Oscar ducked his head to hide his grin at Arthurs snickering. He knew that other people would find his jumper amusing (he could see the funny side himself) but he still loved it. His nanna had been making them too big ever since she finished it very early the year that he'd had a big growth spurt and he'd ended up with sleeves that didn't fit right. He just thought that the size made them extra cosy.
"Nah," he said after he swallowed some of his eggs. His now empty fork waving about a little as he spoke. "Parents decided to take Nanna and Gramps on holiday instead. You?" Oscar raised an eyebrow in question before his eyes followed the movement and he smiled at the adorable little creature.

Arthur nodded in acknowledgement of Oscar's reasons for not heading home for the holidays, and after a bite of his own breakfast he said, "I think my uncles would let me go home, I mean, they'd probably be happy to see me, but I wanted to stay to work on Potions." Arthur shrugged a little. "They're Muggles, so doing magic at home...probably not the best idea, y'know?"
"So, got any plans for how to spend your holiday? I mean, you're welcome to come sit with me and Autumn while we brew potions."
Yet most weren't in a rush to leave, apart from those headed off to Hogsmeade or who had a long to-do list of tasks to get done during their abundance of free time. Some students lingered to enjoy tea or hot chocolate, which appeared at the end of each house tables as a little Christmas holiday treat on behalf of the house elves -- same as yesterday, though no less appreciated.
Hogsmeade Trip / Christmas Holidays
3rd years and above may come and go from Hogsmeade all day, including Bloodlines characters who have signed permission forms (inventory item). RP-wise, Filch checks every form no matter who you are -- to ensure no one leaves who shouldn't be, so feel free to mention that when you leave the grounds.
To visit Hogsmeade, simply start posting there as you would any other location. Please mention the walk to or from, as it is a bit of a trek along the path from the Front Gates to the village / vice versa. If you choose to RP the walk itself as its own thread (if going with a friend and wanting to RP this), use the Front Gates location. Events may occur in those threads, or at the village itself.
Any money spent in Hogsmeade is RP-only, not taken from your account. Apart from those away on the Hogwarts Express, every character has total free time until dinner. Have fun!
Jamie picked up his stuff and looked around. He figured since he didn't have anything to do, maybe he could go to the Greenhouse? Maybe check out the castle for some ingredients. Why not? Right? The lawn was covered in snow, so he felt like staying inside. He wished he was at home, but Grace didn't want to go home and that meant he was staying at the moment. His parents wanted them all home for Christmas it seemed.
Well, summer was just around, right? He walked to the doors and grabbed a few snacks to put into his bag before he headed over to the greenhouse. Since he had no other place to go, right?

Lindsey looked up as the food disappeared and she stood up, packing away her daily prophet to check out later before she headed towards the doors. It was a long walk to the village, but she was going to make a stop at the greenhouse to do what she needed to do first. She had plants that needed to be harvested and replanted. Besides, she now had an extra pot she could use.

Oscar pouted slightly as the pasty that he had been eyeing disappeared along with the end of breakfast. That had to be a lesson on grabbing life while you can or something like that, surely... He didn't particularly know for sure (nor did he care) what the saying was, all he knew was that he missed the yummy looking treat. Poor him. How sad.
"That makes sense," he nodded, focusing back on Arthur after grabbing a mug of hot chocolate - he wasn't going to miss this one even if he was sure that it wouldn't be as good as at home. "Magic without someone to easily fix things.. yeah, not a good idea."
He just had to think back to his own accidental magic while his paternal grandparents were looking after him to realise that was a bit of a bad idea. They were lucky that his grandparents were already well aware of magic by then, so any instance ended up more amusing than scary. Just sometimes very inconvenient.
Oscar couldn't help but to pull a slight face at the mention of potions.. not his favourite subject. Though he probably should work on improving his grade in it at some point before the Ricci Grandparents find out at the end of the year. Wouldn't want to just hand them things to complain about. He would get around to that another time though.. probably.
He was glad for the invite of company but he just really did not want to deal with potions that day.
"Was thinking of heading to Hogsmeade for a bit, but other than that.." he shrugged, "I'll see where the day takes me I guess."

Arthur grabbed some of the hot chocolate, happy to enjoy a warm drink in the wintertime. "Yeah, and besides, I'm sure my cousins don't enjoy being reminded of their Muggle-ness." Arthur had been a bit annoying as a younger student, especially when it came to him being a wizard while his cousins went to regular school.
His uncles had been surprised, but it had all made sense once it was explained to them. Even Arthur had some trouble remembering that he was a wizard sometimes, though a lot less than when he was in first year. The spells always gave him trouble. He was glad he wasn't allowed to do magic in the Muggle world, in case he made a mistake and no one was there to fix it.
"Sounds like fun," Arthur said after he finished his hot chocolate. He set the mug down on the table and scooped Autumn up, "I guess I'll see you around later, then." With that and a wave, Arthur headed down to the dungeons to get started on his potions practice.

"Good luck with potions," Oscar lifted a hand in a quick wave farewell before he then melted into the warmth of his hot chocolate, both of his hands going around the mug in an attempt to drain all of its warmth into them. He took a sniff of the drink before he started to drink it.
He was right.. it was not the same as at home and instead left him feeling momentarily homesick.
Oscar pushed that feeling away with a sigh and finished his slightly ruined drink in three big gulps. There was no use dwelling on a feeling that he could do nothing about when he could use the drink for its warmth instead and get on with his day. He was going to need all of the warmth that he could get after all if he was to head outside.
He scrubbed a hand over his face after the drink was finished, glanced around the hall one last time, and then headed out himself.
