Name: Nichole Jones Gender: Female Blood Status: Halfblood Raised in: Wizarding Personality: Nichole is feisty and fun. In a crowd of people, she is often the center of attention due to her flair for dramatics and desire to make people laugh. In a silent room or intense moment, she is likely to loudly proclaim a random word or make a random noise to break the tension. She tells elaborate stories with different voices, exaggerated gestures and much hyperbole. Nichole finds it hard to take any situation seriously, and it is not unheard of for her to giggle when facing trouble, be the person who gives her location away when sneaking around by tripping and crashing into something or blurt out something in inappropriate in any situation. This has been problematic in classrooms, where she has been disciplined many times for her disruptive behavior.
Nichole likes to move and be active, and detests sitting still in a classroom. She has a lot of energy and can be found tapping her foot or quill just to have an outlet for her excess energy most of the time. She walks fast, talks fast and loses interest in things fast. She likes to explore, and has made it her educational goal to explore every inch of the castle and grounds.
She doesn’t like to be told how to live her life, and has a bit of a rebellious streak. This is more obvious when she’s with her friends, because as soon as one says she can’t do something or she wouldn’t, she would lay down her life to prove them wrong. This has also led to trouble, because half-planned plans usually blow up in her face and land her in trouble. She will try anything once, and often makes decisions and plans with very little forethought for possible consequences of her actions. When caught, she will put up minor resistance, but accepts responsibility without finger-pointing.
Loyalty, honesty, and bravery are important to Nichole, and she holds her friends to high standards. She chooses a few close friends, but has a wider range of friendly acquaintances should her friends be otherwise tied up and unavailable. She enjoys being in a large group, especially if that entire group is getting along.
Being around people who are fighting gives Nichole a lot of anxiety and causes her personality quirks to become more evident. She doesn’t handle confrontation well--she will stand up for herself and her friends with no hesitation, but once alone she needs time to decompress and recover from the situation. She tries not to let anyone except for her close friends see this side of her, as her public persona and reputation is unshakable and playful. She is afraid to let people see her vulnerable side, for fear of judgement and loss of control.
A mediocre student, Nichole does not strive for perfection, only to pass her classes. She’s much more interested with things going on outside of the classroom. To her, school is social hour and she will happily bounce from group to group of students just to satisfy her need for social interaction. She prefers classes where she can interact with other students, such as DADA, and classes where there is a lot of wand use, such as Charms, because it’s easier to talk with other students when some talking is permitted. She has dreams of being an auror, but her family isn't sure if she has the right personality for the job. If she is unable to be an auror, she isn't sure what her future holds as this was the only career that has ever appealed to her.
Talented With/In: DADA, Flying, and Charms. Detailed Backstory: Nichole is the oldest child in her family. Her father, John Jones, is a wizard who works for the Ministry of Magic in the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts department. Her mother, Brooke Jones, is a muggle school teacher. She has two younger sisters, twins named Cassie and Kelsey who are 9 years old.
From a young age, Nichole was taught to think for herself and follow the beat of her own drummer. She has tried nearly every muggle sport at her mother’s request, from soccer to tumbling classes to mime classes to fencing. She never stuck with things for long, getting quickly bored with repetitive lessons and finding it hard to make progress when she was easily distracted by everything around her and more interested in making friends than learning a sport. Eternally patient and calm, her parents never berated her for never sticking with whatever new passion she developed on a whim and instead encouraged her to find what made her happy.
On the other hand, Cassie and Kelsey are talented in whatever they attempt, often earning awards and receiving praise for every little thing. Nichole hates that and is incredibly jealous of her sisters, not only for their natural talent for practically everything, but because they have a built in best friend/closely aged sibling. Their relationship is strained, as a result, because Nichole find herself sour and lashing out when her sisters are showered in praise and attention. This is one of the reasons she is so animated and dramatic at school--it’s finally her time to shine without two little she-devils upstaging her.
The Joneses live in a modest house in the countryside, just outside of a muggle village, for much of the year. They spend summers at their paternal grandparents’ estate, where they are able to interact with other magical children and enjoy the freedom and exposure to magic and their world. Summer days are spent flying, swimming and attending social events that her grandparents (upstanding citizens in the wizarding community) force them to attend. Nichole doesn’t mind going to parties and pleasing her grandparents by showcasing impeccable manners and etiquette, but she much prefers to spend time flying or having fun with kids her age.
