Martha grinned at her brother, perhaps knowing his likely reaction to her at times dry sense of humour. In fact, she was pretty excited about the snow too, but she could never resist teasing her siblings a little. Just a little though, qas she didn't want to get in trouble with her mother! None of the siblings wanted that, for as much as they loved her, she knew how to write a howler!
"I'm just teasing Toby, but as I said, we'll see about who can come out on top!" Of course, they probably both knew how clumsy she could be, and if they tried to build a giant snowball or something, she would probably end up in it. Okay, so it wasn't her last time, but still...
With Tobias now talking excitedly to his friends, Martha turned her attention to Amy, who seemed to have come over for a look at her dress robes. They were hardly modern (and definitely not new), but she couldn't help but turn her hands over the ruffles.
"No, no shoes. I suppose just the robes were a bit of ask, but it seems they came through for us!", she answered her sister. "You're right though, we can't go barefoot!", she added, just as a younger student recommended a second hand shop in Hogsmeade. Was it that obvious that they little in the way of money? She supposed she shouldn't be offended, as he was only trying to help.
"Actually, I have been trying to save a little for a trip to Hogsmeade, just in case we did manage to get permission", she informed both Amy and Jovian. The latter didn't stick around, so she turned her attention back to her sister.
"Anyway, those must be Toby's new friends. I've spoken to Joe, but I haven't seen much of...Ryan, was it? I guess we'll have plenty of time to get to know them", she observed, noting that they all seemed as excited as each other. yep, this was going to make for an interesting Christmas holiday!
Amelia glanced over at the boy who spoke and nodded slightly before returning her full attention to her sister. She nodded in agreement about the request for the dress in the first place and she let her fingers play with the ruffles before she put her hand back by her side and looked towards the door of the great hall.
"Same here, lets see if we can get something for Mum and Dad for Christmas?" She suggested, though didn't suggest anything for their siblings. Maybe some candy for something with a homemade card. Wouldn't be the first time all the siblings exchanged candy for the holidays. She looked in the direction her brother had disappeared and chuckled lightly.
"Yeah, I guess we will... Not sure if I'm excited or not... I asked a few people to come over for the holidays... Was considering maybe Lucky again... But, I don't know how mum or dad would handle that after the summer," she said as she blushed a little and glanced towards the Hufflepuff table.
Jamie watched as Joe and Toby disappeared and grabbed his own things to find something to do. Maybe he could go to the greenhouse? Or something? He had no idea, but he wanted to get a few things done. The thought of getting things done made him remember about the founder's thing he had found in his fireplace and wondered if he might be able to find out more stuff.
Looking up, he notice Grace still sitting and made his way to her table.
"Hey... Um... Are we going home for Christmas?" he asked cautiously, though had a feeling he knew the answer. "If not, I was hoping we could ask the professors about maybe us staying in your house for Christmas? So we can celebrate Christmas morning together?"

Lindsey smiled when Reena said she would like to go with her and put away her things while she waited for her to finish. With the box still sitting on the table, she looked at it for a moment and made sure the top was secure before she slide it into her lap.
"Before we go, I need to take this wee box to our dorm... Ye're welcome to go ahead of me or do ye want to wait a bit?" Lindsey knew if she didn't do this now, she was going to regret it. This needed to be someplace safe until it was time to get ready.
At the question about Elizabeth and those in the prophet, she shrugged her shoulders slightly and looked back at Elizabeth before she stood and gathered the box in her arms.
"See ye in just a bit," she said before rushing towards the doors and to the dungeon.

"I was hoping we could stay here," Grace said. She didn't want to reveal what she'd been exploring in the castle until she was absolutely certain it would work out. After all, if she was doing dangerous things and she told Jamie about it, he might just tell their parents--and Grace couldn't have that happening!
She smiled at the idea of a sleepover. She missed hanging out with her brother. "Sure! Let's go ask right now!" she stood up, attempting to pull him along to the exit of the Great Hall. The worst thing the professors could say was no, and even then, Grace was already thinking of ways to sneak her brother into the common room. Switching robes might be easy enough. Unaware of Toby's plans to head home for Christmas, she considered asking him to switch robes with Jamie so that Toby could hangout with his Ravenclaw friends and Grace could hang out with Jamie.

Arthur nodded thoughtfully as his housemates suggested reasons they weren't having the best time at that moment, however vague they were. He was just glad that there were no tests coming up, otherwise he would be in a very similar boat, wondering if it was possible to pass Transfiguration without having much talent in the subject at all.
"Cold? Snow? That's what blankets are for," Arthur said, trying to cheer them up. "The common room's usually pretty toasty. We can wallow in collective misery and defeat in there, if you want. Beg the house-elves for some snacks if we really get hungry."
It sounded like a good way to spend the first morning of the holidays, even if he had plans to prepare some potions later. He had a lot of time, after all.

Elizabeth thanked whoever decided to end breakfast right then. If anyone decided to ask her, or one of the younger two, even, about the newspaper she didn't want to be there. She recalled her permission slip for Hogsmeade, and decided she should see what some of her classmates had been seeing for three years. If her parents were going to give her the opportunity, she would use it.
Even if she was still a little jealous that they were on vacation, probably somewhere warm. Snow might have held her attention once, but that was for its beauty, only. Once she was out in it, it was considerably less enjoyable. She made up her mind to bundle up in her warmest clothes and brush up on her fire-making charm.
She brushed herself off, removing seemingly invisible crumbs, and headed down towards her dormitory, considering whether or not it would be warm enough to melt the snow as the sun continued to warm everything up.
Levi did well to multi task eating, cleaning his hair and multi tasking conversations around him as he smiled and greeted at the other people around him. His attention diverted upwards where he noticed the enchanted roof and smiled at both Reena and Lindsay. " Pretty right?" He replied as he then read the daily prophet to which he quickly noticed Lucas glaring at him. Confused, he glared back as as he frowned in his direction.
He then diverted his attention back to his juice as he finished his cup quickly before looking back to the girls as the headlines of the daily prophet ran through his mind. It was quite scary to consider a death has made news headlines on the front page. It was indeed scary. His mind seemed to wander as he read the prophet
His attention and internal thoughts broke quickly when he looked back at the girls. " Yeah I'll come along with both of you! " He replied as he finished up his food and then stood up before clearing up his face. " I'm going to go take a shower, get ready and let's meet in the court yard in an hour?" He added before rushing back down to the Slytherin Common Room to take a shower and get dressed.
Jamie couldn't help but look a little sad about staying here for the holidays, but he did still have some stuff he could do and summer wasn't too far away. When she seemed excited about the whole sleepover thing, he smiled and followed after her. There sister was likely going to be hanging out with her friends, so he didn't bother going to find her at the moment.
Martha nodded, glad that Amy had managed to put a little money to the side too. She was right in what she said next too. They really should.
"I agree. Do you have any ideas?", she asked, although it was usually a case of see what they could afford. It would be nice to actually pick something out for them though!c Worst case scenario, they could maybe buy a few bits and pieces and make them something. It wouldn't have been the first time she'd had to get a little creative, both figuratively and literally!
With breakfast now over, Martha swung herself from the bench and looked over to her siblings. It seemed as if Toby would be suitably occupied with his friends, at least once he had dealt with Snape. She didn't envy him.
"have fun Tobes, see you later!", she bade him farewell, quite confident that he wouldn't 'go missing', as even Snape would have a hard with when their mother found out!
"I need to go back to the common room and get some more warm clothes. Meet you at the entrance!", she called after her sister before departing the Great Hall.
Amelia shoulder her bag and nodded off to Tobias when he went off with his friends. He would be busy for a while, Joe and Ryan would likely see to that. She had only heard about the boys, but it would be interesting to get to know them at their home. She wasn't exactly looking forward to their company all holiday, but she would still deal with it. It was a shame no one was coming as their guest.
"I'll be up there," she said before she headed towards the doors of the Great Hall and gave Martha a wave before she headed out of the castle and to the gates of Hogwarts.

Sophia didn't read the Prophet, just roughly shoved it into her bag for later. She ignored the owls the best she could, and moodily finished her breakfast. She was rather offended when it just vanished on her, but she deserved it. She'd failed her team and therefore did not deserved good food right now. She should be eating cold peas or something.
She eyed the hot chocolate though, disregarding her sulk-dictated proclaimed thoughts from two seconds ago.
Arthur's question about it being a rough morning was also ignored, as that could not be more obvious. And she had no idea what to say anyway. Sophia appreciated the effort, but wished friends in her own class were around as she missed them and they knew how to -- no, she didn't deserve to be cheered up!
'Hmph,' she grumbled.
Sophia eyed whats-his-name in concern when he said the owls were trying to kill him, though her mood lifted a bit when Elara joined them. At least her fellow player understood how serious the situation was.
'How am I feeling?' She huffed, sitting up. 'I'm... I feel like I need to go order a new broomstick right now. Then, yes, perhaps some wallowing... later. This afternoon? I don't know. I do know I don't deserve Hogsmeade, but it's where the brooms are.' Whatever she rambled next was too incoherent for others to follow.
She stood from her seat, devoured hot chocolate in a few burning gulps, then solider-marched from the hall.
She loved her broomstick, especially its colouring, but she needed better. No, she needed the best. Well, second best; she could not afford the best-best unless she gave up snacks too. Sophia couldn't wait until 6th year to upgrade though. Hufflepuff needed her now. They could not afford for her to be knocked out like that again, and a better broom was an advantage she could achieve since clearly everything else was not in her favor.
So she marched out of the castle, got her old broom from her dormitory, endured Flich nosing her permission slip, then headed to Hogsmeade for a much-needed broom exchange.
