As Anjay spoke to Amelia, she smiled at him and nodded. "It is good to be back... I missed everyone last night." She said, glancing over at Tiana to make sure she understood that Amelia didn't blame her for anything. She wanted her friend to know that it was okay, it was an accident and all was fine between them. When Anjay mentioned that the meeting had gone well, Amelia smiled at him. "Great." It was all she could say when she heard destruction.
The sudden appearance of the youngest Twigg sent her goblet of Orange Juice everywhere, toppling it into her plate of food and causing an animalistic like growl to emerge from her mouth as she tried to save her food from his path of chaos.
"No, but you might if you mess with my breakfast any more." She growled, her eyes wide as she saved the only piece of toast from orange juice and sighed in defeat before she glanced over at Grace as she spoke about soaking the table and then continued her own clean up. Once she was done, she put the old plate at an empty part of the table and focused on making her a new plate. "We all need practice, you bloody fool... You might be a natural like me, but you still have never played in a real match... our fun in the backyard doesn't count." She knew Tiana would like her sticking up for the practice session.
As he reached for the bacon, Amelia just smiled and shook her head. "You goofy kid... Just eat." She said as she focused back over on all her friends. As Jade joined them, Tiana looked over at her and smiled, giving a wave of her hand.
"Morning Jade." Amelia had no idea she had been near the greenhouse the day before and she just gave a little wave before she made another quick toast and egg sandwich. As she folded the bread, she chuckled at Jade as she spoke about morning plans. "Other than Practice? Nah... You should come watch." Amelia suggested as she took a bite of her food and looked down at Jade. Amelia laughed at the mention of a charming spell on Anjay, watching as she compared the cover to the actual face.
Then she saw him... Jacob... His body seemed slumped, he had a cut on his cheek, he carried himself differently and it didn't look good? Amelia felt herself grow hotter by the minutes. Well, Madam Pomfrey's advice of no excitement was out the window. What had happened to him?! Something was wrong with his arm, he cradled it... At his question, Amelia nearly lost it.
"What did you miss? What the bloody hell did we miss?! What happened to you." Her eyes were wide, her face beginning to glow red with anger and she pushed her food out of the way and made her way over to him to get a better look. This was a boy who when he stubbed his toe, he let everyone know and he wasn't even making a big deal out of what was going on with him. "Move Tobias." She said, putting her hands on her brother shoulders as she moved around her brother. As he winced when he moved his arm, Amelia seemed to grow even more concerned.
"Who in the bloody hell did this?" She said through clenched teeth, her eyes wide as she looked into his face. To say she might have resembled her mother was likely an understatement.
Permission granted: mentioning about Jacob making a big deal out of stubbed toe
Jamie watched as the owls came in and saw a familiar owl head in his direction. The boy smiled and reached up, snatching the letter. Being a first year, he wasn't too interested in the workings of the wizarding world, she he ignored the daily prophet and magazines. Opening the letter, he smiled at his parent's handwriting and began to read.
Hi Jamie,
We miss you too, but don't focus on us so much you miss all of your school experiences! Learning magic can be just as fun--when I was your age, I liked Herbology, which is part of the reason I became a healer. It's hard to memorize the plants, but it's always fun to go out and harvest them. Your dad's said some about your projects. I'm sad to hear that you haven't made many friends yet. It's hard to be homesick--have you spoken to any of the boys in your dorm? My girls were my best friends all throughout Hogwarts and even after then. Well. Most of the time. You remember Helena, right? She got you a Chocolate Frog once when you were little. Hopefully by the time you get this, you'll have someone to complain to about your mum. Bug your sisters if you have to.
Aha! Ravenclaw was my guess for you, because you've always liked figuring things out, but I also thought maybe Slytherin--even if they didn't like Muggle things as much when I was at school. But then I was always a bit of a rebel. I hope you're not getting into too much trouble.
Love, Mum
Smiling, he put the letter away and than focused back on those around him. Ryan, another boy from his dorm had appeared and gave a wave. Jamie returned it with a smile, but looked again. Still not Clara. Maybe she was skipping Breakfast and he would see her in class? It was a possibility.
Looking at Ryan and Joe, he shrunk a little as they talked about sitting together and sighed. He had a friend now, but she wasn't here. Maybe he could join them.
"Mind if I sit with you guys too?" He could sit with Grace... He would figure it out.

"I didn't know you had sister, Jay!" Joe followed Jay's gaze towards Gerald's Gryffindor friend with the braided hair and then quickly looked back at his dorm mate. They did look a bit similar, he just had been unaware they were realted until now, he had thought she had a twin sister?
"You must be twins, no one more... what is it called when there's three at once?", he asked. "That must be fun, always someone to play I bet." The concept was rather fascinating to Joe, he himself being an only child so far. Until recently when he had moved in with Ellie's family anyway.
He was a bit disappointed when Toby did not join them but he understood when he saw himapproach his sister who had spent the night at the hospital wing. That must have been scary.
"Mornin', Ryan", he greeted his friend cheerfully. "We better be good. I'm on the team now!"
Joe was aware that there would be practices today and he was starting to get excited about Quidditch now. When the owls arrived, he was almost disappointed he had not got a letter back- but he had only just sent one this morning and he was not quite sure how far away his parents were right now.
"Course we're sitting together. I think Toby wanted to walk to class with us too." He seemed confident saying this, while in reality he was glad Ryan had asked him to sit together. Joe really wanted to sit with his new friends in class. "I have to tell you about that cool guy who helped with Peeves yesterday, he's very daring- even when he got punched in the face!"
"I hope we're learning some cool transfiguration today. Reckon we'll do animals any time soon? I ought to get my owl to like me until then." He briefly wondered what it would feel like for an animal to be turned into something completely different. It could not be too bad, no one would want their familiar to suffer, right?
His train of thought was interupted by Jay asking to sit with them and Joe quickly glanced at Ryan. Joe had thought about befriending Jay just before Toby and Ryan had showed up but he did not know if he could just invite him to be part of their group. Then again: Jay had only asked to sit together and Joe sure as hell did not want to be someone that excluded people- especially not when there was no good reason to do so!
"Sure. We'll just fill up a row.", he smiled at Jay encouragingly.

Surprisingly, Nyx Nordstrom slept well, considering the outcome of she and Mathias Sallow's conversation in the common room the night before. But that was the thing about Nordstrom. She had always been resilient and possessed an innate ability to always move forward. This attribute contributed to her known icy demeanor, with most believing her to have an icebox for a heart. But Nyx felt; she had feelings. She wallowed in her emotions—just deep within.
Nyx entered the dining hall with a confident stride, an air of superiority surrounding her. She moved between the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw tables, her eyes locked on Kaspian Kettles and a few surrounding first years. And, although Nordstrom advised herself against it, her blue eyes flicked toward the Gryffindor table, searching for her first cousin. When she located Jade, her insides knotted and she turned away. Nyx had convinced herself to leave Jade alone. For now.
"You," she almost snarled, her icy orbs piercing one of the young Ravenclaw first years upon arrival. "Jonathan King, correct?" She arched an eyebrow, obviously unimpressed after matching the name from her team's roster with the tiny first year. "I don't think you've had the pleasure of meeting me yet," she began, letting the light catch her captain's badge. Nyx stood tall above the group of them, her school sweater looking featherlight and feminine.
"Professor Rivera was evidently impressed enough to offer you a spot on my team," Nyx continued, her eyes narrowing, showing her distaste for the decision. "So, I suggest you put your best foot forward come practice time, because I'll have no qualms in making necessary adjustments to my roster," she finished, her tone threatening and dangerous.
Nordstrom slid into a vacant spot across from Kettles, intentionally dropping a pile of Herbology books on the face of Anjay Xcalyn's numerous magazine covers. She didn't need to see that. However, her interest was piqued by the front page headline of the Daily Prophet. Yet, instead of reading it at the table, she simply tucked it away within one of her many textbooks for later.
"Do you have any plans for the day?" she asked Kaspian, arranging her utensils around her plate. "I'm planning to visit Hagrid and was wondering if you wanted to come," she proposed, now filling her goblet with chilled water. There was some reluctance on her face, but it wore quick. Nyx saw more good than harm in spending time with Kaspian Kettles. He was a valuable member of her team, so bonding seemed necessary to build some camaraderie.

Even to those who knew Matthias, he seemed rather deranged that morning. After his talk with Nyx the night before, when his words somehow didn't get his point across and he got all unsure about how to react, she'd stormed off to bed. He tried to call after her but his throat forgot how to work. He just stood there, dumbfounded, like the fool he was.
He was ashamed of his own idiocy, so much that it kept him awake longer than he'd have liked. Then he was up early, trying to come up with a way to handle things. What was either twenty minutes or hours, Mathias had nothing. All his brilliance and problem-solving, and he had nothing.
He was confused about it all, even as he strode towards the Great Hall that morning amidst a swarm of owls and chatter. He'd forgotten his robes and sweater, but that wasn't important. He had to make things right. And the only thing that might work was if he finished their conversation from last night. This time he needed to use his words. A smart person would pre-plan such words, but Mathias had lost grips with his brilliance. So much that somehow it didn't occur to him that declaring things of personal nature was probably best done in private, not in front of the entire school.
He'd arrived at the Ravenclaw table, so it was too late to back out now. His hands sweated, and he fidgeted with this tie to the point of almost strangling himself. He inhaled a deep breath, standing himself across from Nyx. It was now or never.
Apparently neither, as no words came out.
Okay, what was his goal here? He needed Nyx to know the truth, but what was it? He said he liked her, but apparently that wasn't clear enough. He mentioned kissing was a thing, which he felt was rather self-explanatory to how he felt about her. Mathias frowned, realising he could lose that. They'd had a moment and now they could lose it. No, he had to do this. He had to tell her whatever it was he was feeling.
'Nyx,' he said, standing stiff from nerves but a determination not to flee or pass out. 'I'm sorry I wasn't clear enough last night. I was just surprised.'
Okay, that was coherent. Good words. Nice job. What next?
Scary stuff. Mathias blushed before he'd even said anything else, his voice rising without him noticing. Now, instead of telling Nyx how he felt, he was loudly declaring it to the entire hall. He was practically shouting it, and he didn't even realise as he was in such a rush to get them out before he had a breakdown.
'I care about you a whole lot, more than just friends, even though you're probably the first best friend I've ever had. I want to ask you out on a date,' Mathias said quickly, loud and nervous. 'I'd like to kiss you, sometime, if you want? Please don't hate me for being stupid last night and not saying this then. I was nervous. I have a crush on you and I want to be with you.'
There. That made some sort of sense, right? Was it clear enough? Mathias exhaled in relief, having probably forgotten to breathe through the whole thing.
Why was everyone staring at him?
Whispers, giggles, and some mocking gestures reached him. Oh. He'd practically shouted his feelings to the whole school. Cool. He was an idiot. Despite waiting for Nyx's reply, Mathias's face turned hot and he stared at the floor. He wanted to cry. He was so embarrassed! And what if Nyx changed her mind or worst, laughed at him too? He was so overwhelmed from having to admit his feelings in front of his house, but having accidentally told the whole school...
He couldn't move. He just stood there, hunched and staring at the floor. He was shaking, waiting his fate, and unsure what to do or say. He wished the floor would open and swallow him, devouring his stupidity and shame. He'd never live this down. He hugged himself, suddenly feeling very small and vulnerable.
He was on the verge of a breakdown, and Nyx hadn't even answered him yet.
Why did it seem like the Ravenclaw Quidditch Captain was always scolding someone during meals? First it was Freya Fawks at dinner and now it was Jonathan King at breakfast. Kaspian felt bad for them, but he was just happy he wasn't her target -- and he intended to keep it that way, as he folded into himself and hovered over his plate of food. He picked at it, listening to Nyx's one-sided conversation. She hadn't even let the poor kid get a word in before sitting.
"I don't have any plans this morning." Kash looked at her with surprise, wiping his mouth of any food. "But, yeah. I planned to visit Hagrid soon anyway." He was trying to act as casual as he possibly could. Kaspian didn't want to come across too eager. He could see that putting the captain off.. and he didn't want to annoy her. If he did, he'd probably end up on her crap list like Jonathan. Poor kid. Nyx was going to make his life hell at practice, wasn't she?
He started to fork his food into his mouth, doing whatever he could to keep his mouth busy. There was an awkward silence lingering in the air and he didn't know what to say next. Kash didn't know Nyx well enough yet to eat comfortably in silence with her, causing his anxiety to skyrocket. He refused to look her in the eye too, deciding to scour the newspaper for anything to hold his attention in the meantime. An article on new Quidditch World Records would do.
Kash heard the familiar voice of his roommate behind him, but didn't turn to greet him. It seemed like something was about to go down between Mathias and Nyx, and he didn't want to be in the middle of it. And, as inconspicuous as he possibly could be, Kaspian took a large sip from his goblet and inched away from the pair, trying his best to give the two their moment..
But he choked back his juice and nearly spit up all over the table when Mathias began to loudly rant about wanting to be more than friends with Nyx, and spent the next thirty seconds trying to suppress his coughing as his roommate continued to pour out his feelings for the entire hall to hear. Everyone was getting more than a meal this morning. They were getting a show.
"The Founders Frivolity?" she questioned, vaguely interested in what lay in store for them at the end of the day as well. "I was wondering about that myself" this was the first time she'd heard anything of it and from the expressions on the fifth years around them, it wasn't as exciting as the mystery led them to believe it to be.
"We have charms and herbology before then anyway, I guess we'll find out what it's all about later" she said, taking a bite of her toast as the screeching of owls announced the arrival of the morning's post. Looking up, the air seemed busier than usual and it was soon explained as several magazines landed on the table accompanying the usual arrival of the Daily Prophet.
Elara snatched up her copy of the Prophet and scoured the front page eagerly, disregarding the magazines for the time being- she had never been interested in reading through gossipy columns like many of her classmates.
"Hey, Arthur... Have you seen this?" leaning over, she allowed her friend to read the front page of her paper before gesturing for him to pick up another copy that was laying on the table nearby.
She had never been down Knockturn Alley, her parents would never allow it- she was always told that it was full of criminals and characters whom she had no interest in ever encountering and she trusted that her parents knew best when it came to that sort of thing. Besides 'numerous objects of a dark and tainted nature' was enough of an explanation to discourage her from venturing down that path.
"We'll leave after breakfast," she quickly declared, leaving no room for objection. Nyx wanted to acquire one of Hagrid's rumored spare pots and then immediately leave. That was another benefit of having Kaspian Kettles come along with her. If the groundskeeper wanted to have a long, drawn out chat, or if his huge dog wanted to lick something to death, she would be able to offer her housemate up as bait. Better him than her, right? Nyx thought so.
She went for another sip of her water when the last person she wanted to see showed up. It was none other than Mathias Sallow. The last time Nyx saw him, Mathias was tongue-tied and shoving his face into a pillow, seemingly too immature to process his feelings after she had just laid out her own. The memory alone tugged at her naggingly, upsetting her as she let it play out in her mind all over again. Nyx just wanted to forget the whole incident ever happened.
"Mathias, it's fine. Just forget it, okay?" she quietly replied after he initially spoke, shooting daggers left and right for potential eavesdroppers. Nyx hoped nobody was listening to him, because the last thing she wanted was everyone to know about her humiliation last night.
Then, his voice rose. He was practically shouting. Nyx gripped the table to keep herself upright, to prevent herself from falling. Her mouth dropped at his spoken words, her cheeks flushing with every shade of embarrassment. Nyx's breath was caught in her throat, a scream being stifled by the overwhelming horror of everyone listening to his public declaration of interest in her. Mathias wanted to kiss her. He was crushing on her. He wanted to be in a relationship.
Nordstrom would've normally been repulsed by Kettles' fit of sputtering coughs, but she was too in a daze to react. She stared at Mathias, not knowing what to say or how to react. Her mouth worked, but no sound came out. Was this how he felt the night before? Her stomach, as if to collapse the whispers and giggles in the hall, groaned with dread. Nyx needed to say something. She couldn't leave the boy she liked standing there with nothing said in return.
"I—" she started to say to Mathias, before her blue eyes rounded the dining hall. Why did she care how these students reacted to his declaration, anyway? Nyx knew what she felt, she knew what she wanted. She wanted Mathias. She had felt he was the one for her, and if her peers wanted to make a mockery of that, then so be it. They were just jealous of their relationship.
"I could never hate you," she began, her voice a little low, still trying to muster up the courage to match his own admission. "I want to be with you, too," Nyx finally disclosed aloud, using the table to raise herself. "I'd love it if you kissed me," she admitted, her cheeks dimpling with a relieved smile. This is what she wanted last night—albeit privately—but now, in front of everyone, was better than nothing at all. Nyx would do anything for Mathias.

The idea that Reena had instantly concluded that the only possible reason he'd want to talk with her was to discuss the topic of the internships, would have been laughable if his stomach hadn't been in knots. It seemed as though his previous anxiety over this conversation was warranted as he saw just about every emotion known to man, play across his sister's face in the span of thirty seconds.
Almost instinctively he reached out a hand as if to comfort her once she held the photograph in her hands, but he snatched it away, just as she took a step back. Reena had never been a hugger. It was sometimes so easy to comfort the younger children, but Jax was so unaccustomed to seeing his sister become emotional that now he was at a loss.
She surely wouldn't appreciate it if he disregarded the clear boundaries she'd laid out in the past, nor would that work to reassure her in the slightest. As the first tears began to glide down her cheeks, Jax felt his own heart ache, he felt guilty as if he were the source of that sadness. He knew that wasn't true, but surely as her big brother he should've been able to shield her from the sadness, instead of burdening her with something more that she might not be able to handle.
Unable to hug her, Jax stepped forwards and reached for Reena's hand- a small gesture that hopefully got the message across that he was there for her, even if everything seemed a little out of control and confusing in that moment.
The sound of the morning post arriving didn't immediately give Jaxen any cause for concern, until a small flock of owls descended upon Reena and himself, depositing a small pile of letters between them. He was still examining the envelope of one of the letters when Reena's words announced that she'd already opened one addressed to her and it all became clear what this was about.
Jax had willingly gone into that interview, but he'd never anticipated such a large reaction to it- he didn't like the attention it brought to him or his family and he certainly didn't like the idea of his siblings being sent letters of sympathy from complete strangers. The only letter he bothered to open was one that he recognised as his grandparents handwriting and was glad to learn that none of this was likely to get back to their mother.
Casting a glance around the hall, he knew that he'd have to go tell the others not to open any of the letters they received- surely there should be some sort of screening to prevent strange adults from writing to children? Apparently he would have to run interference here whilst his grandparents were busy with that aspect outside school grounds.
"We... Go to class" Jax replied in answer to Reena's question, carry on as normal because it wasn't as though anything had changed. They just had more information than they had a week ago- sure, the rest of the school now had that information too but what could they do now that it was out there?
"Just because our private business is a little less private than we'd like, doesn't mean they're entitled to that information" he tried to smile, but it just felt forced and ingenuine "I think I've got a free day, if you need me at all for anything- You just need to come find me, okay?" if ever there was a time to make himself available, this was definitely it.

Tobias had been so wrapped up in his own excitement that he really hadn't noticed the path of destruction he'd left in his wake, he barely looked up from his bacon when Grace commented upon the spillages he'd created and it was only when he heard Amelia's harsh words that he really stopped to look around. He was rather taken aback by the harshness of her tone and the words that came with it, considering he had greeted her with nothing but friendly enthusiasm.
He felt his mood deflate a little as she told him off and suddenly the bacon he was chewing on didn't taste as good as it had moments before. Picking up a napkin, he dabbed a little at the mess as if hoping to win favour by helping to clean up, but the attempt was half-hearted. He hadn't meant to make anyone mad and if he was honest, he was expecting a much more enthusiastic greeting from his sister considering he hadn't seen her since his trip to the hospital wing the previous evening.
Helping himself to another piece of bacon, he smiled towards a fifth year boy who didn't seem to be taking the mess quite as badly as his sister was, but then he heard it:
"Move Tobias"
The placement of Amy's hands on his shoulders and the use of his full name in place of the nickname most referred to him as, made Toby's cheeks burn and his stomach tighten. What had he done that was so awfully wrong? How badly must he have offended her to have warranted such treatment?
"I didn't bloody wanna sit here anyway" he muttered to himself, unsure if he felt truly angry or just hurt that his good mood had been crushed so easily in just a few minutes. Picking up his bag, he resisted the urge to knock over another cup (purely out of spite) and stormed off towards the Ravenclaw table, where he soon located Ryan and Joe and promptly slumped into place next to them.
"Sister's are the worst" he muttered, his previous enthusiasm completely gone from his tone as he picked up a slice of toast and began nibbling on it, he didn't really feel very hungry anymore.
Post by Ryan Barrow on Dec 10, 2020 15:14:12 GMT 10
Ryan glanced enviously at Jamie when he received a letter from home, sighing as he turned his attention back to Joe. Or he tried to, but couldn't withhold reluctance in his expression at Jamie's question about sitting with them in class too.
It wasn't that Ryan didn't like Jamie - actually, he'd enjoy getting to know him and hanging out in their common room or dorm, but outside of that he preferred to stick close to those he trusted. His best friends, Toby and Joe. He'd been reluctant about adding Joe to their group but, even if that turned out amazing, Ryan drew the line at any more than the three of them. He didn't do so well in crowds or bigger groups.
A bitter part of him felt cheated too. Jamie had a twin sister, so it wasn't as if it was as hard and lonely for him as it was for others. Of course, that wasn't necessarily true but Ryan was eleven and still figuring everything out. He didn't want to budge on his friend group, though let Joe answer for them.
His mood brightened at Joe's reaffirming words about their close-knit group, and hearing that Toby waned to walk to class with them. Ryan just sat in silence while Joe and Jamie talked, trying not to be rude yet feeling immense relief when all Joe agreed to what the possibility of Jamie sitting with them in class. He must have meant Charms, since Transfiguration had a different set-up that made sitting in bigger groups difficult.
Then again, since they usually sat in pairs, maybe Joe could sit with Jamie then and Toby would be with Ryan. Or the other way around, so long as Ryan wasn't the one sitting with Jamie. He didn't know him well enough for that. He supposed they'd figure it out once they got to class.
'Ack.' Ryan startled, almost suffocating on his own air, when an older Ravenclaw started yelling.
He stared over at the 5th year in bewilderment. What was going on? Why was he yelling about feelings or whatever? People were trying to eat here. To think he'd been about to have a drink. What a disaster that would have been. He could have died!
'Oh, hi.' He grinned as Toby joined them, which faded as soon as he saw his best friend was upset. 'What happened?' Ryan glared towards the Gryffindor table. He shifted closer on the seat to offer his support and listening ear.
If Toby let him, Ryan looped an arm around his shoulders in effort to not only comfort his friend but also show solidarity. He was silently reminding Toby that he and Joe were there for him, and he didn't need awful big sisters with them around. He hadn't meant to, but Ryan rather forgot Jamie was there and promptly ignored him while focusing on Toby.
'Wanna do something together after Transfiguration?' Ryan asked Toby, though glanced at Joe too. 'We could get more ingredients, or just hang out in one of the courtyards? I dunno, anything really. And then you have Quidditch stuff after lunch right? Are you excited? I'd come cheer you on, if it were allowed, but I'm sure it's gonna be fun and you'll do great.'
He said any words that came to mind which sounded like something nice, trying his best to cheer Toby up even if Ryan personally had very different opinions about Quidditch. He wasn't one to talk that much, so was a bit breathless afterwards, but Ryan didn't have the nerve to go yell at a big kid on Toby's behalf so this would have to do.

He had just finished talking when he was addressed sharply and looked up in bewilderment at an older girl with a very pale face and even paler hair. He knew he had noticed her before and seeing the Captain badge on her clothes he managed to sort her in his mind. Not that he would know her name and she did not introduce herself either.
Joe shrank a little when his captain continued speaking, her face spilling with unwarranted distaste for him and her tone turning increasingly threatening. 'What did I do?', he thought.
He did not get a word out before she turned to sit with the prefect and Joe glanced after her, his intimidated posture turned upward and spite set into his pout as he glared at her shiny white hair. Not like she had bothered showing for Try Outs, so it was hardly his fault she did not know how good of a flyer he was.
Joe was still watching her when a boy her age approached her, yet was surprised when he started shouting. As far as he could tell Ryan had also been surpised by the sudden shouting and Joe tried to catch his gaze as he listened with an increasing level of discomfort to what was said.
He made a face when they said they wanted to kiss each other, visibly disgusted by the thought. Secretly he wondered if such a loud declaration was needed to get a girlfriend and he decided that if that was the case, he would just never have a girlfriend. Period. Or maybe they just thought they could get away with it because they were both pretty, who knew?
Joe was about to ask Ryan and Jay what they thought when Toby joined their table. His face lit up briefly, only to turn into a worried expression when he saw Toby's face. He cast a glance at the Gryffindor table and gave Toby a solidary pat on the back. He did not have any siblings but perhaps it was not all fun and games.
Right. Ingredients. Joe had almost forgot about that. He grabbed some nuts from the table, just in case they did not go ingredient hunting today,so he would at least have those to show for today.
After a glance towards the ceiling he did not really feel eager to go outside at all. Perhaps they could stay inside and play a game or explore the castle a little?
"Yeah, we could just play games or explore too", he added. He had been envious his own Quidditich practice was not until after Toby's first match, but having met his captain he could do with the extra days for preparation...

Lindsey glanced over at Amara as she spoke about practice and if she could handle the broom. Of course she would be one to question her abilities with a broom verses being happy for someone on her team. Amara was a real piece of work, but Lindsey kept her tongue quiet and smiled.
"Well, I guess we shall fine out at our practice..." She said, confidence in her voice as she looked over at Reena and Jaxen. Yes, she had to do this and she stood, looking over at Tom with a smile. "I'll be right back."
Getting up, she walked past everyone, entrusting Tom with her broom while she left the table and made a bee-line for the siblings. As she got close, she looked at the letters now with them and then glanced up at Jaxen.
"I hope ye dinna mind the interruption, but I got a letter from me Ma." She said, hoping up the letter before offering it to Jaxen. "It has some answers to our questions yesterday. Not much, but I wanted ye to see it." With it extended to Jaxen, she looked over at Reena, giving her a smile one that held a lot of sympathy at what was going on with the letters and the sudden attention.
At the mention of his sister, Jamie nodded with a hint of a smile. It was true, he had a sister, though he never got to see her much, except in passing and she always seemed to be hanging out with her friends or her team. It was hard to spend any time with her and he kind of hated that. Grace was the social butterfly, he was not.
"Triples." He said, answering the question and shrugging slightly at the comment of it must of been fun. Yeah, they had a good time back home, but it seemed a lot had changed when he was accepted to Hogwarts. While he tried to spend as much time as he could with his dad, his sisters were doing their own thing. They were completely different and he did like that about the three of them.
At the mention of the Quidditch Team, Jamie looked away and finished his breakfast, pulling out his magazine that his father had sent him. Sport results, racing results, all at his finger tips and he wished he had gotten to be there during the actual events. He barely heard the answer to his question about them sitting together, but he looked up for a moment to give a smile before returning to his own magazine.
Jamie had become lost in his own thoughts until he heard someone with a lot more authority than him speak to someone in there area. The sound of the word 'You' made him jump and he looked up to see one of the older students from his house looking at Joe. What had he done to get this girl's wrath? He had no idea that he had actual been in the same common room last night or that he had interrupted her or another. The girl was staring down Joe and Jamie could swear that she was just going to cause him bodily harm. It caused him to shrink back a little, but then she started talking about quidditch and he relaxed...
She was the Captain... Well, he was severely out of the loop and he just minded his own business. Jamie glanced between the two fellow Ravenclaws and gulped slightly, but was again startled by the presence of another, this time a Gryffindor who seemed rather upset. The boy mentioned something about sisters being the worst and he glanced over at Grace. She wasn't the worst, but she was his sister and they had barely gotten a chance to really talk or see each other.
At the mention of stuff to do, Jamie glanced once again at the main doors and still didn't see Clara. He had to turn in his stuff for his Potion Kit and try and get a pot for herbology... It was important and his mom liked to garden.

Halloween was a weenie. There hadn't been enough tricks or treats to satisfy Langford's insatiable hunger for tomfoolery. Sure, he went toe-to-toe with Peeves as a couple Xcalyns and first years watched. That was awesome, except the poltergeist was a prat and couldn't see the bigger picture. But what did Lucky expect from an afterlife reject? Not much. But grr, there was potential for more havoc! It was a missed opportunity. Oh, and they didn't find the kid either.
'Aren't you supposed to have some sort of superior listening skills to be a Ravenclaw, Kash?' Lucky didn't know if what he said was actually true, but he said it anyway. 'Peeves didn't punch me in the face -- he wussed out with some toy.' The captain scoffed with the correction, dusting off his robes as if he shed a skin of unwanted embarrassment.
Lucky went to push his best friend with fun-loving force, which appeared to send him another direction. And he shrugged, not minding that his best mate was choosing to sit with his own house this morning. Lucky, on the other hand, only ever sat with Hufflepuff. It's where his friends and most of his followers were. He was Mr. Popular™ in every Hufflepuff gaggle.
He obnoxiously leapt into a vacant spot on the bench and began to serve himself some breakfast, tossing a couple strips of bacon and sausage links into his mouth while pouring himself juice. He was too focused on getting himself fed that he didn't notice one of his gal pals, Sophia, arrive to breakfast. That was until she addressed him. He was mid-gulp as some of the pumpkin juice sputtered from the sides of his mouth in surprise of her sudden voice.
'Yeah and we'll break some of those records too.' He grinned, reaching for a napkin that wasn't there. He looked for something to wipe his face with and ended up grabbing a magazine with Anjay Xcalyn's mug all over it. There was no better napkin than that of a sodding muppet.
'You okay? What's with the gloomies?' Lucky noticed something was wrong with Sophia. 'Did something happen last night?' He realized he hadn't caught up with her or Phe after volunteering. He couldn't remember where they ended up. Was it the girl's bathroom?
His attention quickly turned to a loud voice across the hall. It was that delicate and frail-looking kid, Mathias Sallow. Well, frail in comparison to Luckett Langford. Wait, was he professing his love for the Ice Queen™? 'No bloody way!' Lucky coughed, starting to chuckle like an idiot.
