An active, character-driven Hogwarts experience set in the early 2000s. Unique items, plots, and features. Non-canon; this isn't Harry Potter's story, it's ours.
'My specialty is beasts, I'm afraid.' Professor Fairburn gave the first years a sympathetic look. 'I do believe it was grown in one of our greenhouses though. I think the remainder of your questions are better suited for Professor Sprout. Not just for her expertise in Herbology, but also as Head of Hufflepuff herself. I'm sure she'd be happy to help.'
She offered them a smile, and turned to head back into the staff-room. Fairburn paused, giving the first years a curious look. 'Was that all? Do you need anything else?'
Meanwhile, Professor Archerose was trying (and failing) to conceal his excitement when Elara asked him about gained interest in History. It was what he'd hoped students would ask him about, but was worried they'd been too tainted by Binns and his boring approach to the subject. History had so much more to teach and be explored than people realised.
'I'd be delighted,' he said, grinning. 'And yes, of course. I'm still offering it.'
Archerose got out a piece of parchment he'd written notes on, as it was always important to have notes about studious or useful things.
'So, the first challenge is about historical food,' he explained to Elara. 'I want you to research the most popular special event recipes of 1373. Then make one - everything you need is in the kitchens, if you ask the house elves nicely. And finally, share it with friends or other students. After you've shown me, of course, so I know you really did complete it.'
He tucked away his notes.
'What do you say, Miss King?' Archerose asked. 'Are you up for the challenge?'

Grace nodded. All this rushing around Hogwarts was a little tiring, especially when they had to grab things along the way and remember everything that the Professors and library books and deal-kid told them. ”I think that’s all we need. Thanks, Professor Fairburn!” Grace said with a big smile in her direction. Professors were a lot more helpful than Grace had first thought when she had arrived at Hogwarts.
She turned to Gerald. ”Better go to the Greenhouses, huh?” She thought that was where Sprout lived. It seemed fitting. She was the Herbology professor, and her name was Sprout! It made sense to Grace that she would prefer a Greenhouse, even though the first year preferred a cozy bed with the possibility of cocoa in the afternoon. Gerald led the way out, the pair heading to the Greenhouse.

Elara was glad to hear that Archerose was still offering the challenges for pupils that desired to partake in the task, it meant that she hadn't had a wasted journey and she could further her knowledge and potentially aid her in securing herself a better grade in the class. The task that the teacher outlined for her was a lot more work than she'd anticipated but it also sounded as though it could be a lot of fun.
"Of course sir, it'll be fun!" she accepted, letting him know that she hadn't been scared off by the prospect of having to cook something... Which would be an adventure in itself, she wasn't sure how naturally gifted she was at cooking but her parents hadn't taught her a lot about it. She'd have to have them teach her a little more if she was expected to cook anything at school.
After agreeing to the task, Elara said a polite goodbye to the teacher before quickly departing, wondering if she'd have time to hit the library before dinner.
