Let's get Smashed | #6 Pumpkin Patch

The sound of rustling made her look around to see that a pumpkin had been the victim of vermin. Probably rats or mice? No, this was a magical school, nothing was that simple and she lifted her wand toward the pumpkin in preparation. The sound of the croak made her jump back and she narrowed her eyes as she watched as the Gormtoad made it's appearance.

"Oh, great." She said in a growl as she watched the disgusting creature lumber around the patch. These things were awful and she tried to recall how her mother handled them. Of course, it had to be beheading the creature and she rubbed the back of her neck as tension seemed to spread about. Looking around, she tried to see if the groundskeeper was about, but she didn't see him. Well, she knew the severing charm, but she wasn't sure if that would work.

With her wand lifted, she let out a sigh and spoke. "Diffindo!"

Well, that was just great. This was going to be hard and she was likely to ruin half the pumpkins between this point in time and when she finished. Taking in a deep breath, she followed the Gormtoad and lifted her want. She wanted to actual get it this time or injure it some. Maybe if she could get it injured it would make it easier for a cleaner hit with the spell.

The idea of hurting a creature wasn't a pleasing one. After this, she was going to have to remember to talk to her mother about teaching her how to handle these things better.

"Diffindo!" Holding the wand as steady as possible, she aimed as carefully as she could at the creature.

With the creature dead, she let out a sigh, but felt her stomach flip as she saw the dead creature on the ground, it's body laying there... Well, this was not something she had been planning. Walking over to it and looking down. Kneeling down, she pulled off her bag and put it on the ground, opening it and trying to find anything to use to pick up the severed head. She had to be careful, but she didn't have much. A couple of quills, some parchment... Well, she could wrap it up in the parchment.

Pulling it out, she checked to make sure that it wasn't anything important and was relieved that it was blank. She laid that on the ground and then turned back to the head, trying to figure out exactly how she was planning to pick this thing up. Her stomach flipped again it felt and she closed her eyes to try and settle it. It wasn't too large, the size of a grapefruit...

Taking the quills out, she used the two of roll it onto the parchment and once on, she pulled the corner of the parchment up. Searching her bag one more time, she found string that she had pulled from her robe and wrapped it around the ends to keep it closed as best as she could.

Okay, that was done... Or so she hoped... The body was still there and it really needed to be removed and she looked over at the compost heap. She couldn't let Hagrid come back home to this, so she pulled out her wand. "Wingardium Leviosa." She said, aiming her wand at the body and moving the body to the heap. With that done, she removed the smashed pumpkin as well and checked for anything else. She really wanted to get another pumpkin, but was it worth possibly finding another one of those things and having to do that all over again?

Walking around, she finally came across a pumpkin that would be good for her to take. The professor would probably like the two pumpkins and so she pulled out her wand. Grabbing the pumpkin, she pulled it out some, stretching the vines in order to get a clear shot at the main one. Making sure the other pumpkins were safe, she lifted her wand and pointed it at the vine.

"Diffindo!" She said firmly, holding her wand steady and focusing only on the part of the vine she wanted to be cut. Once that was done, she put hand down. With how today was going, she should have good practice with the whole severing charm.
