An active, character-driven Hogwarts experience set in the early 2000s. Unique items, plots, and features. Non-canon; this isn't Harry Potter's story, it's ours.
Bloodline families are created by staff. They have a preset history and various involvements in plots or events. Some may be inspired by canon HP families, such as the Weasleys or Malfoys, but are specially created for HAU. Each family contains several Hogwarts-age children, with premade avatars and a few conditions (like a Wanted Ad) for picking them as a base for your new character.
It's an ideal option if wanting to RP siblings / cousins or are used to RPing canon characters. This feature was created with the concept that we can't always choose our family or where we come from, but we can decide who we are and what we want to be. A Bloodline character is still your own character, whose personality and journey are entirely in your hands, but comes with the extra baggage of family ties and personalised plots.
They present unusual scenarios, for a more varied RP experience, but also challenges -- each bloodline family has its own rules or allowances for things such as your character wanting a pet, broom, Hogsmeade permission slip etc. Writing home is an ongoing aspect, which is also used to make requests. This includes if they're permitted to spend holidays at Hogwarts, have friends over during the summer, and so on.
Getting a Bloodline Character
There are reduced post count requirements for choosing a Bloodline family for your next character. If it's your 2nd character, you only need 50 posts with your first character. If it's your 3rd character, you only need 100 posts with your first and second characters. If it's your 4th character, you only need 150 posts with your first, second, and third characters.
To request, reply to that family's thread -- filling out the required details. Once approved, you can then create an account and submit the character application form to get started.
The same process of the character app, sorting ceremony, and otherwise still apply -- except the avatar / FC are preset. You're permitted more than one Bloodline character (once requirements are met), but they must be different families. None of these characters were made with an ideal house in mind.
Quidditch Waver
Each member is only permitted to have 1 Hogwarts-age character play Quidditch. In addition to this, they may also have 1 Hogwarts-age Bloodline character play Quidditch. That's a total of 2 characters, so long as each comes from a non-bloodline and Bloodline category. If you want to make use of this waver, please be absolutely sure you're able to manage and actively post as two Quidditch players -- they'd be on opposing teams. Neither characters can play in the same position; not both Seekers, or both Chasers, etc.
Other Benefits
Benefits of having a Bloodline character are RP-based. There are no skills / progress-related bonuses or extra advantages, with the exception of the Quidditch waver. However, due to ties the families have with RPG plots -- Bloodline characters have easier access to certain RP opportunities and get to experience things that aren't typical for other characters. This can include visits to the Ministry or other workplaces, having family show up at Hogwarts for a specified reason, always having someone to RP with when going home for the holidays / summer, and getting to explore family scenarios.
Bloodline characters need to be active. If your request for a Bloodline character is approved, you have 7 days from the approving staff post to submit your application. After that, your chosen character will no longer be reserved and thus someone else may pick it. The preset FC and avatar are not negotiable, and the character must have the family surname. You can, however, make personalised additions to the backstory and are free to create whatever personality you want -- so long as any base conditions are met.
