When Hanna said she would think about it, Lindsey smiled at her and gave a nod. "Great! Hopefully, I'll see ye on the pitch." She said as she took another bite of her meal, which was getting rather low now. Glancing at some of the food, she took some rolls and put them in her pocket for a snack later before putting some more items on her plate to continue eating Breakfast. After last night, she was still hungry, though she did give a bit of her meal to Mungo before bed, but the owl did seem to enjoy it, which brought a smile to her face.
She looked over as she saw Avery come in and smile at her. "Hey Avery! Are ye gonna try out for quidditch?" She asked, wanting to draw her friend into the conversation, if possible. Lindsey knew that Avery was not one to talk with others, but being her friend, she wanted to try. They had only recently started to bond and Lindsey really liked her friend. When asked what position she was wanting, Lindsey looked up at Hanna. "Oh, my Ma was a keeper at Hogwarts for her house... But, I dinna ken(don't know) what position I would like... I think I'll just got for it and see what I get. I think any position would be fun and exitin'." She said before she put some eggs in her mouth.
She was just about to answer Elara when the owls began to come down. She quickly spotted her mother's owl and stood to allow it to land so she could attach her letter to her parents before taking their own. Giving him the last of the haggis on her plate, she let him fly off quickly and say back down, grabbing a copy of the daily prophet that was rolled up. She quickly took her parents letter first and smiled at it as she read it. They were doing great, encouraged her to go for Quidditch and her mother mentioned a few tips about herbology that would be helpful with her kit. Shoving the letter away, she pulled open the prophet and read about the missing auror.
"Well, that isna good at all." She said, wondering where he had gone missing at. It was serious when someone went missing, even more so when it was a auror. She had completely forgotten about the question that Elara had asked as she looked at the story about the Beast Reserve as well.
Not sure what else to say, he looked over as the Owl post appeared. When he Spotted Rook, he waved to the Owl, hoping to redirect him to his current seat. He should prbably move, though.
He quickly moved to his own seat, just as Rook dropped the Daily Prophet into his spot. If Rook Landed, he'd try to pet the Bird and feed him some bacon.
It was odd. The Auror in the news had a strange Beard. Plus he Disappeared. That was odd. He felt a tingling in the back of his mind. This was definitely going to be a bad guy if his Comic Books had anything right. Who was going to be the hero in this Story though? He laughed, imagining it being this school. "It's not that small a world."
Hanna laughed slightly at Laras' response, she was happy to just listen to her friends talk instead of the topic being on her. As she watched, Hanna hoped her two friends would get along, she hadn't really had time to introduce them so she watched eagerly as they interacted.
The brunettes attention turned to Avery as she took a seat next to Lindsey, throwing a smile and a small wave at the younger Slytherin. She listened as Lindsey brought her into the conversation, jokingly rolling her eyes at the subject before grabbing herself another drink.
Hanna blocked out the conversation as owls started filling the hall, her eyes locking on to her Grandparents owl; finally!. The Slytherins eyes grew in excitement as she watched the owl fly towards her and land on the table, quickly taking the letter and daily prophet from the owl before ushering it away. Curiousity made its way on to Hannas' face as another, unfamiliar owl landed in front of her.
"One of yours?"
She looked towards her friends before leaning forwards and looking at the letter attached to the owl, confusion flooded her features as she read her name; her hand reached out and untied the letter before leaning back and watching the owl fly away.
Dear Hanna,
I have recently heard of your grandparents misfortune, it has come to my understanding that your grandparents are falling into dept. Because of this I felt the need to write to you and tell you about a vault at Gringotts that was made in you're name at birth.
I have also taken the liberty to tell your grandparents of the vault and you'll no doubt be hearing from them soon. With the knowledge of this vault I must tell you that it is only for you, I don't want to be hearing that it was spent helping your grandparents.
I sincerely hope to hear that you are focusing on your studies and a future in the ministry instead of wasting time on trivial things like quidditch and friends. These things wont help you in the future and it's best to start now when thinking of your future, strive for greatness and strive for the ministry.
Sincerely your mother, Emma Adams
Hannas face went blank as she lowered the letter, her mind still trying to process what she had read; after all these years she thinks she can just come back into her life and control her? Anger boiled up inside her and she turned to her grandparents letter, tearing into it just to see what they thought.
The letter was filled with an explanation, about the money, debt and... her mother; her mother had told them that she wanted to 'get to know' Hanna, to have her move in with her.
"Over my dead body"
Her knuckles were white as she gripped her grandparents letter, it just kept telling her that her mother was just trying to do what was right. Hanna took a deep breath in as she thought of a plan, her mother couldn't seriously think that she'd just listen to her after abandoning her all those years ago. A spiteful smirk pushed at Hannas' cheeks as she turned to her friends, a plan forming in her brain.
"You know what, I think I will try-out and I'll make it on to the team"
Tiana was starting to dislike the word cousin. She shot Jade a look when she greeted Nyx Nordstrom with the word, her face cringing a scowl. But she needed to remember that she was doing this for her. Tiana needed to be on her best behavior! She lowly sighed and took a seat next to Jade, beginning to serve herself from breakfast. The bacon looked especially good this morning as did the maple sausages. So many decisions! Tiana wondered if Jacob was having as much difficulty choosing as she was. Heck, knowing him, he probably put both on his plate!
That thought made her wish she was sitting with Gryffindor instead. Tiana looked over at the large windows when Jade mentioned the views. They were nice. Tiana wished Gryffindor had the same views, but at least this was one thing she could appreciate while having to sit with Ravenclaw this morning. She spooned some eggs onto her plate to accompany her bacon, and began to dig in. She took a couple bites, nodding along to whatever the conversation was. Tiana still hadn't said a single word, not knowing what to really say or who to talk to first.
Then Jade brought up Quidditch. “It's the perfect weather for Gryffindor tryouts,” Tiana proclaimed proudly, finally talking. She smiled at her best friend when she spoke, but then turned to face her competitor across the table. “How do you think your team will fare this season, Nordstrom? You're facing off against Hufflepuff first, right?” she asked, trying to start conversation with the Ravenclaw. Tiana wanted to say that she hoped Nyx would lose against them in the most horrible way possible, but that didn't seem appropriate. How could she put it more nicely? “I wouldn't underestimate Lucky, he's more than meets the eye,” she added.
Thomas took the Daily Prophet when Jade passed it to her, beginning to flip through the pages. The news about the Auror was interesting, but Tiana wanted to read more about the Beast Reserve attack. She flipped to Page 20 and skimmed the article, looking for any more news on the situation.. but it was only the same information Professor Hathmore and Professor Rivera shared. “I hope they catch whoever initiated the attack last night,” she said, closing the paper and pushing it across the table. It was for Nyx to take, but she didn't want to hand it to her.
She couldn't lie, it irritated her a little when her question went unanswered. Shrugging it off, she came to the conclusion that it wasn't important. It was good for Hanna to have friends within her own voice, she needed people to hang out with past curfew or when she wanted to chill in her own common room. Elara had her own friends within Hufflepuff, it wasn't as though Hanna just wanted to hang out with her Slytherin buds.
Clearing the rest of her plate in just a few more hungry bites, she took a long sip of her orange juice before pushing her plate away from her. Gaze sweeping the table, she smiled to herself upon seeing a small bowl of nuts in the center and quickly took a handful, slipping them into her pocket. One ingredient down, just four to go and then she could return to Snape triumphant.
Looking up as another Slytherin approached their small group, she smiled when she saw that it was Avery. She'd already offered the younger girl her friendship, but got the feeling that she hadn't yet earned her trust. She seemed to be friends with Lindsey though? "Hey Avery!" she greeted the third year, waiting with intrigue for her to answer Lindsey's question about quidditch. She wondered if the other girl was into quidditch like she was, most of the people she hung around with enjoyed the sport... Except possibly Hanna.
Just then she heard the familiar screech that marked the arrival of the morning mail and looked around for her parents owl. She wasn't expecting any mail from her parents today as she hadn't written to them discussing anything of importance. However, she intended to write very soon to tell them of her intention to join the quidditch team and hint that there was something very specific that they could buy for her when christmas rolled around. Just as expected, she didn't catch a single glimpse of her parents owl, but she did snatch up a copy of the daily prophet and began to read, brow furrowing as she held it to her face.
Looking up from the paper after reading the front page, she turned to discuss what she'd just read with Hanna out of habit, but saw that she was staring off, a blank expression on her face. "Hey, you good?" she asked in concern, gaze flickering to the letter the Slytherin girl held in her hand, but it was none of her business what it contained so she held her tongue against the curiosity that wanted her to ask about it.
"Great!" Elara exclaimed upon hearing Hanna's decision to try out for the quidditch team, punching the air in celebration she nudged her friend. "But Hufflepuff are going to absolutely destroy Slytherin this season... So don't worry about trying too hard" she teased, reaching across the table and taking a bread roll to nibble at until it was time to leave for class.
Kat noticed Nyx and Lucky enter the Great Hall, she found it amusing how different they were. Nyx seemed to walk briskly in not wanting to talk to anyone and Lucky seemed to just stroll in greeting everyone. Now that she thought about it Nyx seemed more agitated than usual, Kat was just about to go check on her when a flood of owls flew into the hall delivering letters. She greedily picked up a Daily Prophet.
Kat skimmed through it looking to see if there was any more information about the attack from the beast reserve. She didn’t find anything that she didn’t already know. Though she paid close attention to the article about Merlobe Blogge, Kat sincerely hoped the rumors about him were just fake news. She sighed and put the paper down and got up from the table and walked over to where she say Lucky sit down. As she approached she caught the end of a conversation between Lucky and Sophia Rhynhart.
”Well if you want to face Slytherin you’ll need Gryffindor to lose first,” Kat spoke to Lucky but kept a close eye on Sophia. She didn’t really know her, could she trust her to help with the prank? Kat wasn’t sure. She decided to change her tactics and flirt. Kat put a flashy smile on, ”Hey Lucky, are you free to meet me by the doorway in about five minutes? Alone.” Kat finished it off with a wink and walked away, making sure to flip her hair.
She proceeded to stroll over to the Ravenclaw table to find Nyx. As she got closer Kat saw why Nyx seemed more agitated than normal. Sitting across from her was Tiana and another fifth year Gryffindor. Kat didn’t even try to hide the confusion on her face. ”Um, hey.” She said to the group. She gave a look to Nyx that said ’What’s happening here? Need back up?’ Kat kept on speaking though. ”Nyx I was wondering if you wanted to go see Hagrid after Care of Magical Creatures? I heard he’s giving out free planting pots!” Kat said the last part as if she was an excited bargain shopper. ”Um, anyway I’ll be over by the doorway... let me know if you’re interested.” Kat decided to leave it at that. If Nyx wanted to escape Tiana at least Kat gave her a good excuse.
She figure they’d catch up later. She made her way to the doorway and awaited to see if either one of them showed up. Once they did she’d talk to them about her plan to prank the Gryffindors at lunch, and give their quidditch season a rocky start.
Ronan hadn't gotten the best of sleeps the last night, he had a lot on his mind about many a thing happening around this whole place. But he dosed off and slept a little later than he'd wanted, but this was sometimes a thing he did. He could be a slacker when he wanted to be and today seemed to be one of those days, in spite of himself, here he was running later than he wanted to on getting his butt into breakfast.
He found his way to the great hall once he'd gotten himself all dressed and situated. He entered through the doorway to the area, stretching as he walked. He felt pretty good all things considered, and at least he was finally getting over that big party the Gryffindor's had a few days ago. The good times of that day were long since a memory, and now he had to move forward with the rest of the gang to make some more of that.
Eventually, he got to the table, sitting by Jacob. "What's up man?" Then getting on this whole breakfast thing. Admittedly, he'd never been much of a breakfast guy but he could use the energy to get through the day, he figured, so why not? Quickly getting to his meal once he'd gotten his food, adjusting himself in his seat as he looked around. "Looks like it's just us..." Having not laid eyes on many others just yet, just Jacob. Weird.

Grace waved at Gerald when he left. Back to her eggs and toast. She really didn't know how she was going to focus during History of Magic, not with all the excitement going on. She looked sneakily over at the Daily Prophet cover of the second year sitting across from her, with the face of an unknown wizard staring back at her. She read the headline, and got a good grasp of the story before the second year flipped it over.
Well, none of that was her business, anyways. She was far too young to be worrying about that sort of thing. Plus, everyone always said Hogwarts was one of the safest places. Unless you got on the wrong side of Professor Snape and he makes you drink a bad potion. Or you sneak into the Forest and get lightning fired at you. Grace suddenly realized that she'd forgotten to send a note to a professor about that incident. Well, everyone was in the Great Hall, might as well do it now, harder to track her down.
She scribbled out a tiny memo, written in a handwriting she tried to make look different from her own. She couldn't very well cut out letters from a magazine or the paper. Then, she frowned. It didn't look quite right. And even then, how could she be sure that they wouldn't track her immediately? Gryffindor was far enough behind without her sneaking around. Best wait until later. Still the guilt about not telling anybody was beginning to weigh on her.

While she read over the Prophet, she was rather quiet, though looked up as the owl landed near them. She had never seen it and it seemed that Hanna had a letter on it. Returning to her own reading before folding it back up and glancing back at the letter from home. She would be enjoying replying to this letter, but she would wait until after try-outs to let her know how it went.
She was suddenly brought out of her thoughts when she heard Hanna say she planned on trying out after all. "That's the way! Great!" She said, before looking at the Hufflepuff as she spoke, adding a bit of trash talk to the flow of things before nibbling on her own roll. "Oh aye? Don't be counting on it, we dinna plan to let ye have an easy time 'bout it." She said, a smile on her face as she said it, take her own roll and munching on it while she grabbed a few for class to enjoy. Snape was sure to not be happy about the food, but she knew to be careful.
She looked up in time to see Katherine walking towards the entrance of the great hall, but returned her attention to those she had been with.
Nyx shared a smile with her cousin upon her arrival, but then simply stared at Tiana as they took a seat across from her. She had no problem having breakfast with Jade, but did she really have to eat with one of her Quidditch rivals, too? Nordstrom couldn't help but glare at Thomas, studying her facial expressions. She had to have felt the same way, right? There was no way Tiana was ecstatic to be sitting here with Nyx, either. This would either be a decent exchange or one that wouldn't end well for anyone involved. "Yeah, I imagine you don't get to see too much from your table," Nyx replied, beginning to serve herself some strawberries.
Before she could get another word in edgewise, Tiana was all over the topic of Quidditch. Go figure. Nyx let the girl ramble, even throw in her unsolicited opinion about Luckett Langford. "You would know, wouldn't you, Thomas?" she asked, an impish grin stealing her face. She took a small bite of her strawberry, enjoying the ripe, sweet taste. "Didn't he make quite an example out of you in the Duelist Chamber yesterday?" Nyx inquired with a catty flair, arching a brow. Her cousin probably disapproved, but it was true, wasn't it?
There was no better time than the present for her best friend to make a sudden appearance. Nyx acknowledged Kat as she took another bite of her strawberry, nodding at her proposal. She wasn't phased by Tiana Thomas in the slightest, but it was nice to converse with another ally, opposed to an enemy. "That sounds like an exceptional idea," she started to say, smiling at Maples. "I'll join you after class. I'm going to continue having breakfast with my first cousin," she stated with emphasis, knowing that Katherine hadn't yet heard about the news. Nyx would have to fill her in on the details when they went to visit Hagrid later.
Nordstrom had noticed that Thomas slid the Daily Prophet in her direction, but she intentionally overlooked it, instead grabbing a copy of her own. She began to casually flip through the pages in boredom, trying to see if anything exciting caught her eye. When she stumbled across the article about the Beast Reserve, she audibly scoffed. "Oh, please. That whole thing was an elaborate hoax orchestrated by Professor Hathmore," she stated as if she knew it to be true, but it was just her belief. Nyx expected Tiana to disagree with her, but she didn't care.

Food disappeared from the tables as breakfast ended. Not usually the noisier house, Slytherin students were chatting eagerly and in excitement for the upcoming try-outs - even though who just enjoyed watching the matches and were curious to know who'd make the team.
With such a busy day ahead, it didn't take long for the Great Hall to begin emptying of its students and staff. Everyone had someplace to be - even the 6th years, who were lucky enough to be the only students who didn't have classes that morning.
Class threads are now available. If your character has a class, you must post there at least once to show their attendance before you can also have free time. Only 5th years who are taking Care of Magical Creatures are required to attend.
Try-outs begin once Captain Amara Seabrook has made its thread at the Quidditch Pitch. Only Slytherins may attend, if they genuinely want to join the team.

Jade ignored the look Tiana shot her, though she hardly expected her best friend to be thrilled with their breakfast plans. 'Neither of you want to share a meal with each other, I get that.' Jade shrugged, then gave each girl an amused smirk. 'Hey, looks like you both already have something in common.'
Having breakfast as a trio meant a lot of Jade. She was nervous of it not going well, as she really wanted her best friend and cousin to get along enough that she didn't have to choose between them all the time. Yet Jade was also well aware that it wasn't going to be a fun event for either of them, at least not for a while. She expected that, but made a point of just rolling her eyes if either of them send barbed words or scowls at each other. If they got up and left or outright refused to even try, then that would upset Jade. Some sass and snide remarks, not so much. She wasn't a believer in miracles, after all.
Jade stayed quiet during the Quidditch topic, despite having started it. Kat's approach reminded her that she'd probably have to start getting to know Nyx's friends as well. It occurred to her that she didn't really know who Nyx's friend were. Sure, it was no secret that she spent a lot of time with Katherine Maples but what was the history there? Jade was curious, yet had noticed Nyx picking at strawberries and get sidetracked.
So they both liked strawberries. That was hardly unique or shocking, yet Jade smiled a bit at being able to tick off something they had in common. Since there was so much to learn about each other, it made sense to start small and work their way up. She eyed Tiana, hoping she'd get the chance to make it that far with bonding with Nyx or if it'd end too soon. Sighing, Jade nodded at any questions or comments sent her way - pretending to read the Daily Prophet some more. She absently picked at some strawberries, deciding she might need to eat something after all.
When breakfast ended, she didn't notice at first. Jade checked her schedule again and stood, wishing they'd had more time to really talk. 'We should do this again,' she said, without hesitation. 'Breakfast, I mean. How about tomorrow? Nyx, you can sit with us at the Gryffindor table. It's only fair.' Jade wasn't one for holding back, and she was determined to make this work.
Others began to leave the hall but Jade stayed put, insisting on getting an answer from Tiana and Nyx first. She couldn't remember if Tiana had taken up Care of Magical Creatures this year, so didn't mention it, but Jade was glad she'd dropped that subject back in 3rd year. Did Nyx take it?

Sophia used Kat's approach as a chance to take a breath and eat some breakfast, needing a break between her Quidditch babbling and excitement. She frowned, confused, as Kat mentioned Gryffindor had to lose against Slytherin in order to play Hufflepuff. That wasn't how it worked, but as far as Sophia knew Kat wasn't on the team or had ever been.
The urge to correct her was strong, but supposed it was fair that a non-player wouldn't be fully updated on how it worked. She did shoot Lucky a look though, in a silent tease that the girl who had a crush on him was rubbish at his favourite sport. Sophia wondered if that would be a deal-breaker for her, if someone interested in her or that she liked either hated Quidditch or didn't know how it all worked.
'Uh, what?' She scoffed as Kat invited Lucky for some alone time. This Slytherin was quite the flirt, and Sophia was torn between poking fun at Lucky for having another girl fawning over him or defending him from Kat. She was a Slytherin prefect with an incomplete knowledge of Quidditch - Sophia did not approve. But Lukcy was a close friend, so it's unlikely may will be "good enough" for him. She wasn't sure Kat was a good match though, not that she had any plans to interfere.
When it came down to it, her unimpressed attitude to the conversation probably wasn't so much about Kat but rather that flirty invites distracted from the excitement of Quidditch strategies. Sure they'd shared classes for years, but Lucky was HER friend. Would he really go with Kat, just because she bat some eyelashes? Knowing Lucky, probably, but Sophia dreaded it. Was a pretty girl worth more to him than their friendship? Or worst, more important than Quidditch? It's possibly her priorities were skewed...
Sophia abruptly stood when breakfast ended, deciding she couldn't bear the thought that her close friend might just ditch her and their team discussions for a pretty girl. She had faith in him, but he was still a teenage boy who loved attention.
'I gotta go...' She stuttered a half-formed excuse, though it was no use as Lucky knew she didn't take Care of Magical Creatures. Sophia really had no where else she had to be - unless that place was "anywhere other than here." She shot Kat an annoyed look for having interrupted their moment and exciting conversation, then hurried out of the hall.
Despite her attempted smile to passerbys, hair turning a muted brown gave her true emotions away. She was conflicted and disappointed. Not because she had any romantic feelings for Lucky, but rather she hated the idea that she might get ditched for those who did have romantic feelings for him.

Though the conclusion of meals wasn't the most predictable thing, Amara had finished her breakfast and was headed out of the hall before Breakfast food had vanished from the tables. She needed to get a head-start on her plans for the try-outs, despite having plenty of time regardless - since she didn't take Care of Magical Creatures (thank Merlin) and couldn't start the session until classes had finished for everyone.
Still, she wanted to be prepared. More importantly, she wanted to look completely prepared. Amara had a lot of pressure as the new Captain, and their track record hadn't been the best in terms of winning. Actually, she hadn't checked the stats yet - but as a member of the team since first year, she knew it could be better.
In hindsight, she should have said more before leaving the Great Hall - reminding everyone to show up if they were interested in joining the team, but Amara's nerves got the better of her. Now she had time to compose herself and get ready. She refused to worry that no one would even show up or want to be on the team with her in charge.

A smile pulled at Hannas' features as she listened to her friends banter with each other, trying her hardest to not let her mother or her letter to get to her. Hanna folded up the letters and slipped them into her robes, making a mental note to reply to her grandparents later on.
"Oh? you really think you'll win? When you know I'll happily distract your captain"
The Slytherin threw a cheeky wink at her friend as she grabbed a couple strawberries from the table and taking a bite, turning to her friend slightly with a smug smile on her lips.
Hanna started to grab her things and stood once the food disappeared, finishing of her strawberries and making sure to clean her hands and face with a nearby napkin. "I'll see you guys soon", she smiled at her friends as she placed her bag on her shoulders before leaving the hall.
