Lindsey ate her breakfast, still absorbed into the Daily Prophet as she did so. Lindsey wasn't really paying attention to the rest, though she did notice the rain was still going from this morning and she looked out at it in peace. It rained a lot in the Highlands, but to her it was peaceful.
As she looked up, Avery was abruptly getting up and she looked off in surprise and confusion. What had happened. She had noticed the letter that had dropped before her, but didn't ask what it was about and hadn't noticed her open it. As she saw her shove people out of the way, Lindsey finished her food, stole a piece of toast for the walk to class and headed in the direction of the Entrance Hall.
Third years had Defense Against the Dark Arts, so she figured that was where Avery was going. She sighed and headed in that direction.
Genevieve was content in blissful sleep, eyes closed, mind switched off from the exhausting reality. Such peace was soon to be disturbed. Something nudged her, muttering a hey, trying to wake her up. She wanted them to go away, she wanted to sleep. A sharp noise rapped near her ear, she let out a protesting groan and with difficulty opened her eyes.
"Class?" Gen echoed to Jacob, as she yawed loudly, managing to raise her head to rub sleep from her blue eyes. Not fully awake, she fumbled for her bag like a poorly built automaton she got up. "Yes... Class." She managed to mutter as she headed off. "Thanks." She said to Jacob, not awake enough for anything near a conversation.

'Okay. That sounds good.' Mathias nodded, letting her recapture his gaze. 'I was just thinking, if you ever needed some support - doing some fundraising, or you fall a bit short of Galleons, I'd be happy to help. I'm not into Quidditch myself, but I've been to a lot of games and I've heard how expensive the sport can get. You're a captain now, and since it's important you have what you need to show your true potential...' He shrugged, hoping she wouldn't be offended at him offering to help.
He hardly saw the point in having a generous allowance if he couldn't use it to help people who needed it. Not that he thought Nyx couldn't handle it on her own, but Mathias was willing to help her pay for it if she let him. Broomsticks were not an easy expensive for anyone, let alone a Hogwarts student. He'd have said more and explained himself better, but Kat could hear too and he didn't want to sound like...Mathias didn't even know. He blushed, busying himself to gathering his books and putting them in his bag.
'Hm? Exploring?' Mathias glanced at the girls. 'Yeah, sure. I'm always up for some exploring. I do need to track down Kieran Bane later though - he helped me with my Whomping Willow project, so I'm betting he might be open to a few more crazy ideas.' He passed it off as a joke, though knew there were those who really did think his ideas were just crazy in a not-so-funny way.
He nodded at the suggestion that they head to Herbology, though let the girls walk ahead of him. Mathias hurried to catch up, still sorting books into his bag as he ran.
”No I haven’t,” Kat said nonchalantly taking another bite of her croissant. ”A new shop huh?” Kat spoke glancing at the Prophet in front of Nyx. ”Oh interesting a broom shop! Haha well I know someone who will have to check that out!” Kat said nudging Nyx.
Was she blushing? And was he offering to buy her a broom? What happened last night? Kat thought shifting her foot to tap Nyx under the table. It was meant to signal to her that they were going to have to talk about this new boy development. Kat definitely approved of Sallow.
Kat outreached her hand in an effort to break up whatever this nervous or embarrassed energy was. ”Hi, Kat Maples. Nice to formally meet you, it’s Mathias Sallow right?” Kat had heard some rumor about him and his family and wondered if they had somethings in common. Specifically about his sister attending Beauxbatons, after all that’s where Kat’s father attended.
As soon as the food vanished Kat threw her robes on and backed up her things. Kat checked up on Patrica to make sure she was still in her book bag’s pocket. ”Sounds like a date,” Kat said responding to Nyx extending an invitation to Mathias. ”Hopefully the weather clears up, I know I need some ingredients from the Black Lake,” Kat continued as they began to walk out of the Great Hall.
”I’ll catch up with you two, I need to check something and make sure Patrica gets back to my dormitory,” Kat said branching off from the group and heading to the nearest exit. ”Save me a spot in class!” Kat called after them. She was hoping to brave the rain and grab a couple sprigs of Fluxygrass, after all Kat was fairly certain they were going to get dirty in Herbology anyway.

'Okay.' Ryan nodded, getting up from his seat. There was no reason to stay there anyway, now that breakfast had ended. They have plenty of free time, and he didn't want to spend it waiting around this time.
'I think she went that way,' Ryan pointed once they'd left the Great Hall. 'I'm sure we could ask some of the portraits, right? Or maybe she went somewhere the same as yesterday? What do you think?' He hurried towards the stairs, hoping she didn't get too far ahead of them. Ryan was not in the mood to get lost again.
Tiana watched as Abigail climbed on the table to shake her bottom, paying tribute to the night before. It was no doubt a dare and cleverly executed too. Thomas was too tired to laugh, but she tried anyway. “Girl, you're absolutely bonkers,” she commented, shaking her head in hilarity. She meant it in the best way, finding the fourth year entertaining. Her smile was too tired to reach her eyes, but it was there. She took a bite of her pancakes as her friend sat back down, looking around to see if anyone saw Maples attempt the dare. “Exhausted isn't even the word, Abs. All I want to do is sleep,” she responded, pouting her lip with an infantile sadness.
After that, a lot of the conversation surrounding her fell on deaf ears. She dragged her fork around in the syrup that had pooled at the bottom of her plate. Did she even put syrup on her pancakes or was it already on them when she served herself? Tiana was too tired to remember. It was Ronan's mention of her name that caused her to listen in again, but she couldn't even look up at him. “I slept bloody awful,” she mumbled, a little annoyed by his tongue-in-cheek question. She would've given anything to be able to go back to her dorm and sleep a couple hours, but knew that wasn't an option. She had a Herbology lesson to attend after breakfast.
Thomas pushed her plate away, signaling she was done with her meal; at least she ate a quarter of it. “Let's get this show on the road, Gryffindor,” she said with more frustration than enthusiasm. The timetable seemed to be on her side, too, as food began to disappear from the Great Hall. It really was time to get the show on the road. Tiana sluggishly stood after a nudge and watched as Jacob attempted to wake Genevieve from her slumber. Normally she would help, but Tiana had half a mind to join her. With a tired sigh, Thomas headed off to class.

A laugh fell from the young Slytherins lips at her friends comment, she kinda liked doing the dares and if she remembered the list currently then she could easily pull of another; Number 2: Publicly wear the full uniform for a different house.
"I just need to burrow you're spare uniform, I promise it will be returned in perfect condition. Cross my heart and hope to die" Hanna made a show of drawing an x over her heart, giving Elara her best puppy dog eyes and sickly sweet smile on her lips.
A small squeak left Hanna's lips as she fell backwards slightly and breaking her from her conversation, only noticing when Lucky had decided to get up that breakfast was over and the food was gone, "See you around, Captain" Hanna waved as he left before turning back to Elara and continuing the conversation.
Quirking an eyebrow at her friends rather odd request, Elara's suspicions only grew. "Is this for another one of those dares?" she inquired skeptically. She didn't know why she bothered asking the question, of course Hanna would now attempt to conquer all dares upon the list. "Honestly, there's so much more you could be doing in your spare time, productive things like studying for your OWLs" then there was the simple fact that they wouldn't be sitting their OWLs until their fifth year.
After a moment or two of contemplation, the Hufflepuff gave a sigh of relent. "Fine, but you're gonna owe me for this, when do you need it by?" she was hopeful that Hanna wouldn't ruin her uniform- it would be the perfect excuse for her parents not to buy her a broom if that happened. They'd simply say that they needed the money to purchase a replacement and they couldn't just throw money away on something that she didn't need.
Anyone who could imply that she didn't need a broom, didn't really know her at all- especially with the Quidditch season fast approaching.
Hanna rolled her eyes and sighed, mimicking her friend with her hand as she spoke about OWLs for the millionth time since they had met; she didn't really understand why Elara spoke so much about it when they had forever to study, it wasn't like they were tomorrow.
"Lunch? Actually before lunch? I promise it will return in one piece." A serious look covered Hanna's face as she made that promise; the young Slytherin wasn't one to make promises, she knew how easily breaking one could ruin a good thing and she wasn't willing to ruin this friendship.
"Don't I always owe you?" Hanna joked before continuing "You know I'd do just about anything for you Lara, You're my best friend" a smile pulled at her lips as she thought about what she could do in her free time.
Pursing her lips, Elara nodded but deep down she knew that she'd probably come to regret her decision to help her friend with her troublesome antics. "Fine, I'll grab it from my dorm before lunch and meet you in the entrance hall?" she agreed. Despite her doubts, she trusted Hanna- her friend had never betrayed that trust before- if she had then they might not be sat there having the conversation.
Smirking, Elara gave the Slytherin a playful nudge with her shoulder "yeah! Because I'm the one always dishing out favours! A bit of reciprocation would be appreciated!" she teased, before readying herself to leave the table. Hanna's words gave her reason to pause though and she smiled "you're not going soft on me are you?" an eyebrow quirking as the tease left her lips- but she wasn't about to hang around to give her friend an opportunity to reply. "Look, I've gotta run! But I'll meet you in the entrance hall before lunch, promise!" she got to her feet, bending at the waist to give her best friend one last parting hug before leaving the hall.
