Lucas strolled into the Great Hall, adjusting his tie as he headed for the Slytherin table. He sat down and reached for his goblet, then gasped in fright when someone yelled over at the Hufflepuff table. He winced, having spilled his juice though thankfully only on his hand. He wiped it off with a napkin, and proceeded to bully information out of a younger year.
So, that was all four houses with captains then. Interesting. He had enough information now to finalise his betting scheme for the Quidditch matches. Amara and that Ravenclaw, Nordstrom, were the most likely contenders this year. Though Lucas wasn't foolish enough to underestimate Hufflepuff or Gryffindor when it came to their teams. It did seem things would be easier for him though, now he knew exactly who was running things.
Lucas perused the Daily Prophet, frowning as he realised the owl activity seemed higher than usual. He suspected the daymoth outbreak had something to do with it, but didn't react at all to the confirmation that no one from his family had reached out to question, warn, or check in on him. They've probably all forgotten he existed by now.
Still, the Prophet provided some interesting details. He made note of a few, then returned his attention to breakfast. Lucas had a lot to do today, with a class in the morning then an afternoon of free time. At least his homework was all finished ahead of time.

'Hey,' Jacob mumbled to Ronan as he dropped himself into the seat across from his dorm-mate. 'Did breakfast start earlier than usual or am I just that tired?' He groaned, letting his forehead fall to smack against the hard wood of the table. He was tempted to just sleep there, but there was too much noise and owls flying around.
Jacob huffed, forcing himself to sit upright so he could start hungrily piling food onto his plate. He wanted to cry when spotting the timetable nearby, and remembering he still had a lot of homework to do. He'd need to borrow someone's notes later if he had any chance of getting that done.
More interested in the Daily Prophet, he read while eating - then nodded at Tiana. He'd have filled her in but his mouth was too full. There were more important things than keeping up with the news, like having a hearty breakfast and daydreaming about his comfy bed.
His energy remained low. Jacob was exhausted and hate they had class afterwards. He wanted to skip the whole day. 'Who's stupid idea was it to party late?' he grumbled, as if he hadn't made that same mistake a hundred times in the last. He'd never learn.

Amara remained at the doorway, peering at each of the house tables. She noticed Kat over with the Ravenclaws, which was easy to spot with the green and silver where it didn't belong. There was a 4th year, Grey or whatever, over by the Hufflepuffs too. It was hardly strange for houses to mingle during breakfast or lunch, even Slytherins. Amara frowned anyway, and headed to the Slytherin table.
'Morning,' she casually said to Lucas. She sat beside him and considered what to eat. Amara eyed the ceiling and sighed, knowing that narrowed down her options for the day. They had Herbology first up, then homework - all in all, not too terrible. She smeared avocado on her toast, trying to ignore all the owls and the fact a letter from her father had reached her.
As if it was nothing, Amara grabbed the letter and tucked it away in her bag - intending to set it on fire at the first chance she got. She glanced at Lucas, but it was a bit too early for proper conversation. She ate her meal quietly, occupying herself with reading the Daily Prophet. It was rather exciting news, but nothing that came as too big a shock to her.
She rested her cheek on her palm, bored and not in the mood to go about her day-to-day activities at Hogwarts. At least the nightmares had been fleeting or forgotten, but Amara didn't fell well-rested yet. She only hoped today would be a better day for her or else a letter wasn't all she'd be setting on fire.
Professor Sprout was amused by members of her house, though pretending not to notice the antics of a Slytherin girl armed with peanut butter. 'You're certainly fit for the job. Make us proud, Mr Langford.' She gave him a smile. 'I will see you in Herbology soon. Do set a good example by not being late.' She gave him a kind but stern look, then headed off to prepare for the lesson.
Food vanished from each table as breakfast ended. Chatter continued among students regarding the Daily Prophet, though those who had classes quickly gathered their things and reluctantly headed out of the Great Hall. Professor Snape glanced at the Slytherin table, then left through a side door. If Miss Blackwood decided to pay him a visit to discuss whatever she'd intended to, then he'd be in his office waiting.
Owl finally began to flood out of the Great Hall, having delivered the post and nipped some snacks along the way. Filch lingered in the corridor outside, seeming to be in an especially annoyed mood - glaring at students as they passed. Older students known for causing mischief would know he was on the lookout for troublemakers.
Class threads are now available. Everyone else has free time until lunch.
Abby sympathized with Tiana, they were up late last night sweating it up on the dance floor. She noticed across the room that someone was licking Peanut Butter off of someone else’s face. ’Eww! Abby thought even though she knew it was a dare. ’Well I guess I have to top her, Abby thought a smirk coming to her face as the perfect opportunity presented itself.
”YOU KNOW IT TI!” Abby responded by jumping on the table and waving her butt and hands in the air just like they had the night before. ”Haha, honestly though I am exhausted.” Abby continued as she carefully made her way back to her seat.
“Nothing much, just some news about a new broom shop in Hogsmead opening up,” Abby said talking causally at first before letting the excitement in her voice come out. Abby knew that Tiana would be so happy and excited by the news she might even jump and dance on the table. ’Well perhaps that great news will give her new vigor to get through the day,’ Abby thought positively.
”And wasn’t it your idea Jacob? I mean you did get the food with Ronan. OR was I’d YOUR idea?!” Abby playfully pointed at Ronan.
Once the food vanished and her friends left for class Abby got up from the great hall and walked over to the closest castle exit before having to run in the rain to get to Hagrid’s Hut. She wondered if there was a lot for a groundskeeper to do on a rainy day or not.

Grace, still feeling a little sleep deprived but otherwise in good spirits, decided on figuring out how to get fluxygrass and honey. She hadn't seen any at the table, and though she hadn't an umbrella, she did have a change of clothes. She waved at Gerald and Ryan, remembering that she and Gerald had duelled, and she'd actually had a lot of fun. Maybe she'd try to find someone else that she could duel with.
She could always go back to her dorm, she thought as she stood up. The day was full of potential.
A genuine laugh fell from the young girls lips as she listened to the boy she now knew as Lucky, he was very full of himself but for some odd reason she didn't hate it.
"Lucky, huh? Cute name but I think I'm gonna stick with Captain"
Hanna replied as he leaned in, her eyes widened slightly as the distance between them dwindled. He wasn't seriously about to get revenge on her was he? Her mouth parted slightly to stop him but the words were stuck in her throat and all she could do was sit there and listen; a snake in headlights?.
A look of shock and disbelief quickly covered her features as he wiped the cream away with a napkin, she shook her head and looked down, Merlin did she feel like an idiot.
"Who cares what they think"
The young girl whispered to herself as Lucky turned his attention to one of his housemates, Hanna never really understood why it was so frowned upon to be different or have a little fun when you were a Slytherin. A sigh fell from her lips as she turned back to her friend, leaning back against Lucky; it was an act friends would usually do but even though they weren't friends it somehow felt right, maybe they could be friends?.
"Hey, Lara, Can I ask a favour?"
Hanna picked at the rest of her food as she waited for her reply.

"I'm gonna say the party late thing was my idea, seems like a cool guy thing to do." He laughed as he acknowledged Jacobs words, then Abigails. Forgoing the hello in favor of referencing the night before, which was one heck of a night in all of their defense. So it was worth any pain or tiredness they happened to feel here in the present day.
When Tiana had spoke about the morning, he teasingly saluted towards the captain. "I take it you slept well, captain?" He said playfully as he sat back in his seat and chose to get some relaxation in while he glanced around, even seeing Genevieve seemingly about to fall asleep at her own seat. Some people couldn't handle being up as late as they all were, he supposed.
After he finished eating, he noticed the food vanish and he looked to the rest of the gang, realizing it was time to head off and begin their day. He quickly pulled himself together and looked at everyone else. "So, nobody fall asleep in class. Might not be the best idea..." He chuckled, oddly energetic in spite of his lack of sleep, stretching as he maneuvered to head out. Glancing around the room at the various tables as he wandered off, huh, that blonde with the Ravenclaw wasn't bad, you know, for a Ravenclaw.
Perhaps he'd check out some of the talent outside of Gryffindor later. But for now, he took his leave with the rest of the group of students.

Having finally finished her pile of eggs on toast, Rubes rested in her chair, letting her breakfast go down. She was pleased that Lucky liked the idea of a party to celebrate his appointment as Hufflepuff Quidditch captain. Perhaps she could visit the kitchens later and ask if the house elves could make up a basket of snacks.
What to do now? She had a free morning, but no idea what to do with her time. The weather outside wasn't awfully great, so she decided the morning would be best spent indoors. Maybe she'd go do some quiet reading in the Library for a while.
With a soft 'clunk' a certain redhead's head hit the table as she fell asleep in the middle of the Great Hall. Unfortunately for the young Genevieve Foxglove, her cup of tea had failed to wake her up enough. Too tired to engage in the conversations with or pay attention to her fellow Gryffindors, Gen gave into the desire to close her eyes for just a second, unwittingly falling prey to the desire to sleep, embracing the welcoming blackness.
Elara decided to do the only reasonable thing. Completely ignore the exchange happening beside her between her best friend and the Hufflepuff Quidditch Captain. She had a genuine respect for both and she didn't want anything she overheard to ruin that.
As the food vanished from the table, she pondered what she was going to do to fill the time since she didn't have class until after lunch that day. However, just as she was about to get to her feet, Hanna spoke to her again. Surprised that her friend had decided to pay any attention to her at all since she seemed to involved with her new friend Luckett, she pointed to her chest to gesture herself in mock confusion.
Then the words sank in. A favour? What kind of favour could she mean? She'd learnt a long time ago to be suspicious of any favour her friend asked of her- it could land her in deep trouble easily. "What is it?" she asked the Slytherin, eyes narrowed slightly displaying her suspicion. "And before you ask, no... You can't lick peanut butter off my face" that was a joke... Kinda.
When breakfast ended, Avery abruptly stood from her seat. She gave Lindsey a look, ashamed of herself for having stopped talking to her, then avoided eye contact. Still thinking on the fact her father had written to her, and maybe she'd been too hasty in having destroyed it without reading, Avery just stormed out of the Great Hall.
She shoved anyone out of her way as she went, even those older and bigger than her. Maybe class would help keep her mind off things enough to calm down? That rarely worked though, so she seriously doubted it. Avery expected she was probably going to make a mess of things again soon, then Lindsey will realise what awful company Avery really was.

'I can neither confirm nor deny,' Jacob joked, raising his hands in mock surrender. He didn't care who took the credit for the party or various great ideas involved with it, as everyone had worked together and had a lot of fun.
He got up with Ronan, disappointed that they had to head to class. 'Come on, Ti.' He nudged Tiana, waiting for her to join them before he accepted that breakfast was truly gone. He had wanted to eat more but the house elves and staff didn't fully understand how much food a growing teenager needed.
As he was about to head out, Jacob saw Genevieve's head hit the table as she'd...fallen asleep? It certainly looked it. Normally, Jacob wouldn't care and just wish he could catch up on some sleep too. He'd noticed some other students about the same age as her rushing off for class. He couldn't just ignore that - detentions weren't usually fun, and if she lost points for being late then that affected the whole house. He eyed the hourglasses, knowing Hufflepuff were too close for comfort.
'Hey,' Jacob reached to nudge Genevieve. He smirked and tapped a fork against a goblet right near her face. Not as great as hitting two plates or steel lids together, but he had his own class to get to and was too tired for another genius idea. 'Don't you have class?' he asked her once she was able to hear him. 'Better get a move on, eh?'
He'd done what he could; the rest was up to her. 'Let's go.' Jacob nodded to his friends, and headed out of the hall. He only hoped Herbology would be worth the rain and not getting to sleep in. Probably not.

Nyx was perplexed by Mathias' behavior. Why wasn't he making eye contact? It was an oddly particular question, but one she didn't mind answering. She just didn't understand why he was asking in the first place. "I think I'll have enough saved up for the one I want soon," she began, trying to recapture his line of sight. "But if I wrote my grandmother, I'm certain she'd help me. She's always been supportive when it comes to my extracurriculars." While her mother was also very supportive of her, it was Nyx's grandmother that had the deep pockets. The thing was, Nyx didn't like asking for things like galleons; she liked to earn them.
Before she could inquire about Mathias' curious question, Katherine Maples showed up. A friendly smile lifted Nyx's lips as she gave her closest friend a small wave. "Good morning, Kat," she greeted, her smile unwavering. It was then that Nyx realized her two friends didn't really know one another—or did they? How would Nyx even explain the sudden friendship between herself and Mathias Sallow? It was a friendship, right? Her cheeks reddened with a blush, as she tried to shake the unnecessary complexities of the situation. "We were just discussing the Prophet—specifically the new shop in Hogsmeade," she answered.
Suddenly, food began to vanish from the four long tables, returning them to their natural state. It was time for students to disperse. "I was thinking that sometime today we should finish seeking out those ingredients for Professor Snape," she suggested to Katherine whilst rising from the bench. She quickly turned to look at her fellow housemate and added, "You're welcome to come too, Mathias. It'd give us a reason to do a little exploring around the grounds." Nyx offered a sweet smile, her eyes twinkling with blends of blue. She hoped he'd agree to tagging along. It'd give them more time to get to know one another.
"Shall we head to Herbology?" she abruptly proposed to them, already on her way out. Nordstrom hated being late and she almost never was. To anyone who didn't know her, and many who did, Nyx Nordstrom always appeared to be in control when it came to punctuality.

All of a sudden, his table-length conversation with Ruby Farrowbrooke got cut short. 'Whoa!' It was all he could manage before Sophia began her barrage of words. He peeled the publication away from his face, looking at the article as she raved about the broomsticks. 'I'm planning to get myself one, too.' Before he could point at the one he favored, a squeal pierced his ears.
Sophia's reaction to his newly attained badge was priceless. Langford laughed with an elation that rippled from the depths of his being. It always felt nice when someone was genuine in their congratulatory wishes -- especially when that someone was a good friend like Sophia Rhynhart. 'You were right. I just needed to bide my time.' He nodded, confirming her words.
'I guess that does make me your boss now, huh?' He tapped his chin, his brows furrowing in faux thought. 'I suppose you're fortunate that I like you, eh?' Lucky grinned. 'So much in fact, you're going to be the person I run plays by; nobody knows the sport to the extent you do.' He normally only complimented himself, but Sophia was one of those rather rare exceptions. His flattering words could've been interpreted as truly miraculous, considering. 'What do you say?'
Then, the food disappeared. Drats, he thought. He could normally beat the process to the punch and nab himself something before it vanished. Not this time, however. What was he going to snack on during class now? With a huff, Lucky pushed up from the table. He didn't realize, but Hanna Grey had been leaning on him for however long. 'Have a good day, ladies.' His smirk was all male, proud and cocky. He tilted his head with a nod toward the fourth years.
He turned back to face Sophia. 'Let's get to Herbology. We wouldn't want to keep my favorite Professor waiting, now would we?' Lucky motioned for her to come along, hoping Sophia would walk with him to their lesson. As Langford strutted out of the dining hall, he saluted familiar faces along the way, some of whom clapped his hands and applauded him on his captaincy.
