Soon after one of the younger girls was hit with a sausage, Jacob knew what was up. 'Has someone been peeking at my Christmas list?' he asked loudly, grinning in excitement as others joined in retaliation.
Then he got hit right in the face with what tasted like mashed potatoes. Jacob froze, shocked by his own poor lack of anticipation, and blindly reached for anything to wipe it off. Momentarily forgetting he had sleeves, Jacob reached in the direction of Tiana in search of her hand or something to use to restore his vision.
Once he was able to see again, Jacob quickly devoured as much gravy-smothered chicken as he could stand without choking to death. Starvation sorted, he started picking the best things to throw. 'Food fight,' he shouted - joining in on the Hufflepuffs' war-cries. He spotted Lucky and Sophia, and took aim with mashed peas. The fact mashed peas existed was already a crime, so they simply had to be used as weapons.
'Good practice, eh?' Jacob nudged Tiana, then realised it would be a good time to sneak off the kitchens...But nah, this was way more fun!
Killed by Devin Kudosen by act of the Killing Curse. June #24, RPG year 1 -- he was a 5th year Gryffindor. Jacob died to save his best friend, Luckett Langford.

Amara wasn't oblivious to Kat's expressions, and intended to investigate that some more later, but her attention soon went to the Headmaster and his annoying announcement. It was downright unfair that as Quidditch captain she had to learn some spell to help defend people who can't be bothered learning it themselves? Why should she put in the time to learn it for any reason than to protect herself, and probably some of her own?
The whole thing was ridiculous. If the Ministry couldn't round up some big insects then that was their fault and she shouldn't be made to deal with any of it. She grumbled, cross her arms over the table - having pushed her finished plate away. She hadn't eaten a lot, but it was enough. Amara just wanted to be done with it all.
And what came next was horrifying. Amara had her wand out the second a carrot landed in front of her, then startled at Lucas' yell. He had the right idea, though. She gathered anything she needed as fast as possible, then once again was grateful not to be slowed down by robes. Amara glared at anyone who dared cross her path, fleeing the hall and following Lucas to the dungeons.
If she wanted to get involved in a war, she'd win. Throwing food wasn't that though, just a bunch of idiots behaving like toddlers. Amara did not have to energy to deal with their stupidity and disrespect tonight. She hoped they all got detentions for it. Serve them right.
The Great Hall was turning into a place of utter chaos. Some Professors tried to hide their amusement, while most were either shocked or annoyed by it all. Professors McGonagall and Snape looked horrified by the whole event. Headmaster Rickard stood, his eyes flashed with fury through he remained level-headed and dealt with things properly.
He made a gesture, and food vanished - from the tables, from people's hands, and even from some of the students themselves. The noise and chaos dissolved, as surprised or disappointment settled in for those who were having a grand time creating such a mess. Dessert did not immediately replace the food, and that seemed to worry some of them more than the idea that punishment was about to follow.
'Silence,' Rickard declared in a loud voice. 'I do not know who was responsible for this disrespectful and outlandish display, but it must cease immediately.' He clearly meant business, even to those who didn't want to stop.
Desserts appeared, as tempted as delicious as ever.
'If even a single one of you does anything with the food except to eat it in a proper, and organised, manner - I shall ban dessert entirely for the foreseeable future,' Rickard said sternly, with every intention to follow through if they even thought of continuing the food fight. 'I advise each of you to finish here, quietly, and return to your houses.'
Most of the staff cleared out after that, in discussion about the moths and various other priorities that had to deal with. A few remained to keep an eye on the students, or enjoy their dessert while they could in case the punishment was enacted. Rickard sat back down, intent on supervising and maintaining his position of authority. They got very lucky that time.
Rubes was surprised to see that a few Slytherins had fled the Great Hall, probably heading for the safety of their common room. Perhaps they thought they might die if a sausage or chicken drumstick happened to whack them in the face. Then, quite unexpectedly, the food vanished. The headmaster stood, seeming to be rather irritated and demanding an immediate stop to the throwing of all edible projectiles.
'If you can't have fun as a kid, when can you have fun?' she thought to herself. After all, that's what the food fight was meant to be, just a little bit of fun, and wasn't that what being a kid was all about? All Rubes wanted to do was enjoy life and have fun before she had to grow up and start acting like an adult.
After a few moments, dessert appeared. Finally deciding it was time to settle down, Rubes helped herself to a bowl of jelly and custard. The food fight was good while it lasted, but now it was time to, once again, act like she'd never been involved.
Abby was glad to know that her Housemates had her back in a food fight, but she also suspected that they just plainly enjoyed throwing food. After Tiana started launching carrots across the room Abby relaxed a little bit. Or at least as much as one could in a food fight. Ronan had come in and suggested that they flip the table over and take cover and Abby had half a mind to do that. After all she didn’t want to be covered in food, sausage in her hair was enough for her. ”They’re escaping Captain!” Abby shouted to Tiana when she noticed several of the older Slytherins leaving.
Abby felt bad for the Ravenclaw boy that got mashed potatoes in his hair. ’Sorry I don’t know my own strength apparently.’ Abby thought remorsefully as she watched him leave the Great Hall dodging flying food. She didn’t even see him throw anything. Abby felt as if she should have taken the high road like that guy. But they were having fun! Abby laughed hard when Jacob was momentarily blinded by mashed potatoes, she thought he looked funny reaching out for something anything to wipe his face with. ”He’s been hit! I repeat Jacob has been HIT!” Abby yelled over the mob joining in on the battle cries.
Then in all the food just disappeared. The was a brief moment of confusion where Abby looked around for the cause. ’Oops Headmaster Rickard does not looked pleased,’ Abby thought preparing for the worst, no dessert. But all they received were some stern words then it appeared for them. Abby rushed to grab a fist full of licorice wands then spoke up. ”Hey guys, I’m gonna head back up to the Common room and get things set up for the party. See you in a bit.” With that said Abby hurried out of the Great Hall and up to Gryffindor Tower before anyone found out that she was an integral part of the food fight.

Sophia busied herself with a genius plan of making snowballs out of mashed potatoes. She'd accumulated a pile of them for herself and Lucky, intending for them to use their superior Quidditch skills to land some hits at the Slytherin table. She grabbed one, arm leaned back to throw it, then it poofed. She stared at her empty hands for a moment, confused. Her whole pile was gone! Oh, so was all the food.
She dropped onto her seat in a heavy sulk, crossing her arms in a huff. That was so unfair! She and Lucky were about to become Hufflepuff heroes! Sighing, she conceded defeat and was glad at least they weren't robbed of yummy desserts. She had her fill of custard tarts, then reached to loop her arm around Lucky's.
'C'mon, let's go to the common room,' she said. 'I challenge ye to a...I have no idea. We'll decide when we get there. Come on, come on.' Sophia urged him, wanting to continue their plafyul mood but away from fun-spoiling Professors. She got up and gave Ruby a bow, then hurried from the Great Hall. It was her intention to drag Lucky with her, but that was up to him if he let her.

The food was flying everywhere, though Lindsey smiled at the pure joy that people seemed to be having, she knew that sooner or later it would stop. She found herself watching and dodging food from her place at the table, though not many other's of her house seemed to want to participate. She chuckled lightly and then looked at Avery when she spoke. "I'm not doing this... Meet you in the common room when you're ready?" Lindsey nodded and grabbed another bite of her own food. She knew sooner or later it would end and she wanted to eat without losing her chance.
Soon, the food was gone, even the half-eaten roll that was in her own hand. Well, that was disappointing. Lindsey hadn't actively participated, but it seemed the fun was over and everyone looked a bit confused. The sound of the headmaster's voice came over everyone and she looked towards him. She held the man in great respect, mostly because her mother told her she would because he was her elder. As the dessert appeared, she found herself grabbing a few pieces of something with chocolate and standing up.
"Well, that was very fun, but I think I will head out." She didn't say it to anyone in particular, but loud enough that anyone around her might hear it. She pushed back some of her hair that slipped away from it's plait and headed towards the great hall doors and to the common room.

He didn't see it coming. Within a second, a bowl of what seemed like mashed potatoes had plopped over his head. 'Why, you little..' He couldn't manage the rest of his words, too busy trying to grab for Sophia. But he was blinded, unable to see. 'Oh, it's on!' He vowed, wiping food from his face and vigorously shaking the remains from his fingers. Lucky caught a glimpse of her silly faces and shook his head in amusement. 'You think you're a right laugh, eh?’
Karma had been swift. Something nailed Sophia square in the back, causing her to shriek. 'Now that’s funny!' He laughed, his words coming out in sputters. He turned to find his first year friend, reaching out to tag her shoulder with an encouraging pat. 'Well done, indeed, Rubes! You're quite the little rebel, aren't you?' Lucky grinned, still attempting to avoid incoming projectiles -- or oncoming bowl pouring, too. He cracked another smile at the thought.
The war continued to escalate, various menu items flying to-and-fro across the dining hall. Lucky watched as Sophia put together an arsenal full of mashed potato balls. 'Hey, you're pretty good at that.' He commented, taking a couple of her creations into his hands. As he was about to launch his weapons, they disappeared; vanished into thin air. 'Bollocks!' He groaned, realizing what happened. Everyone seemed confused until Rickard caught their attention.
As soon as the Headmaster stopped addressing the students, Sophia was dragging him away from the table. She had wanted to goto the common room. 'Whoa, whoa! Let me grab a couple pastries!' He begged, quickly scooping a handful into his arms. He wasn't about to leave dinner without dessert. 'Alright, let's go!' He shot Farrowbrooke a congratulatory wink, as he trailed behind Rhynhart. 'You're a legend, Rubes! A legend!' He fled, a trail of crumbs in his stead.
Tiana got hit with some sprouts, a couple getting tangled in her hair as she tried to pull them out. Finally ridding of the remains, she redirected her attention toward Ravenclaw, where she suspected the greens had originated. “Take that!” she shouted, laughing all the while flinging various diced fruits. The whole ordeal had been a load of fun and was the perfect predecessor to the party coming later in the evening. Tiana couldn't wait to celebrate and spend more time with Jacob, Ronan and the rest of the gang back in the Gryffindor Common Room.
“You alright, Jake?” she laughed, her words slurring together. Tiana helped wipe his face clean, but not before taking a finger and tasting the mashed potatoes he was caked in.“Mmm, it's appetizing, but could use some gravy,” she joked, implying she could have doused him with the thick liquid. Before she knew it, the pair of them were joining in on the war cries, taking aim at whomever they first set their eyes on. “Thatcher and Thomas, folks! There ain't no better food fighting duo at Hogwarts!” she said, pressing her back to Jacob's own and covering his rear.
Thomas listened to Abigail Maples' warning, ready to issue a fury of asparagus shots at the retreating Slytherin students, but the food suddenly disappeared. The chaotic atmosphere dissipated at the sound of Rickard's voice, leaving Tiana and many others bummed out. “Aw, that's no fun,” she griped, sinking back down into her seat at the table. An array of desserts came into view, but they weren't enough to replace the excitement she and the others had experienced moments before. Tiana stuck a spoon in a bowl of pudding and stood up. “Are we ready to take this red and gold circus to the commons?” she asked, smiling ear to ear.
"They can be tricky little blighters, can't they?" Nyx said, giving off a little bit of a shrug. "But with the proper knowledge, they're manageable," she stated, as if she had actually dealt with the mischief–making creatures before. She hadn't, but that didn't mean she didn't want to. Then, her curiosity peaked at Mathias' mention of another species, but kept it fairly contained. "Those are much larger," she commented, peering at the photo. She didn't want to act like some giddy school girl. Nyx strived to be world–beatingly poised and polished.
Moments later, a glop of mashed potatoes smacked Mathias' in the back of the head. The sludge had splattered his hair, it dripping off of him and onto the table as he cleaned himself off. Nordstrom's face had twisted with horror and disgust, her eyes darting around the hall for anymore incoming mishmashes. "We have to go," she warned aloud, feeling uneasy. Her warning came too late, as projectiles from every which way were fired. Nyx shrilled, her sensibilities bordering on hysteria; so much for poised and polished. "No, no!" she whined, dodging juice. Luckily, her reflexes were quite good due to countless Quidditch practices.
"You're an idiot, Langford!" she hissed, her eyes narrowed and accusing. Nyx had watched him for a moment, his working in tandem with a couple of other Hufflepuff girls. She rolled her eyes and covered her hair with the sleeves of her vestments, rapidly approaching the door and disregarding everyone else in the process. She wasn't going to stick around and get nailed by flying food. Her day had already been a rough one and the last thing she needed was to be roughhoused by what should've been dinner. With that, she hastily retreated from the hall.

Post by Grace Babineaux on Sept 8, 2019 12:46:10 GMT 10
Grace arrived at the Great Hall with Gerald, and decided to sit with the rest of her house, and eat quietly to avoid suspicion.. She considered doing another gross food combo. On her way over, she picked a hair from an unsuspecting Slytherin boy who turned to his friend and started a minor argument. Whoops... Grace thought to herself. She grabbed a seat and smiled, the table seemed very happy for Tiana Thomas--because she'd been made captain! Grace thought that was nice. Maybe she'd be able to be a Beater like her mother. She shivered. Maybe not.
She listened to Headmaster Rickard, now slightly more familiar with his voice than she had been previously. It was odd, he seemed a little different far away and up close. She was definitely glad that the headmaster explained what a crystal daymoth was, for she had no idea what they even were, let alone what they looked like. Grace liked Madam Pomfrey, though she had not met the woman yet, purely because she performed a job similar to her mother's.
She looked around when Madam Pomfrey told them about krystalus--it sounded terrifying. Grace wouldn't want to be frozen or covered in crystal. She hoped she didn't see any daymoths out in the Forbidden Forest, where she was still thinking about going. It would probably be fine, she rationalized. She sneakily tucked a small piece of food to Marcia, still hiding in her pocket.
A sausage? Suddenly, food was flying everywhere. Grace ducked her head, and hid under the table, where she enjoyed her plate. "Honestly," Grace said to the rat as she took another sip of the pumpkin juice she had been drinking until everything seemed to die down. She peeked her head out of the table, and realized the headmaster was telling everybody that they'd be in trouble if there was any more food fighting.
Grace wiggled her way back up to the table to see that dessert had been put out. Well, that was quick. She took a little bowl of pudding. Man, Rickard could be terrifying. She made a note to never get too far on his bad side, though she still had planned her little trip. It was fine if Gerald didn't want to join her, since it was the Forbidden Forest and all.
She finished up the dessert, picking up an apple on the way out for Marcia to eat later, if she was good, and made her way out into the hallway. She'd wait for Gerald for a little bit, then go, hopefully with him in tow.
Headmaster Rickard lef the Great Hall. It was mostly empty now, with only Professor Archerose finishing up some reading. A few older students remained, finishing up conversations or task, but the rest began to leave the hall. It was curfew; students should be inside their house common rooms or headed there now.
Gerald had been at the Great hall for a while, eating until he felt full again. He was pretty sure the two of them needed to do some serious activity in the Forest.
It was pretty amazing how much things had changed over the course of a day, and just how active the School was. A Food Fight? Wow. Too bad there was the issue with the Daymoths. Hopefully he didn't find any of those.
The boy was pretty lucky that he wasnt hit by any flying food, and even more so that he had a donut appear right in front of him.
Once the Meal had finished he notified Ryan what he was doing, and that he'd see him in the Common room later. Then he went into the Hall to meet up with Grace.
Tiana had managed to grab a couple cookies off the dessert tray just before they vanished. One by one, staff began to leave the Great Hall. However, the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain stayed behind a few minutes, talking to some of those she hadn't had a chance to given the food fight. “Oi, there's a party tonight in the commons, so don't hit the hay just yet!” Thomas instructed, pointing at some Gryffindors who were getting up from the table. Then, she turned toward the exit and shouted at a younger year whom caught her attention, “Let the others know I'll be up there soon!” She smiled, her face aglow with excitement over the bash.
She hurried out of the dining hall, but not before taking a bite of one of her cookies. Her teeth sank right into it, allowing her to ingest its true delicacy. “Blimey, these are bloody delicious,” she enthusiastically mumbled to a couple of students she passed, her mouth full of baked goods. Thomas wished she had known of their delicious nature, because she would've grabbed more before they disappeared. With a shrug, she devoured the rest of the cookie whole and started on her second. With a skip in her step, Tiana picked up speed and dashed off to her common room, hoping to find her friends ready to get things started when she arrived.
