Name: Cae Claiborne Gender: Female Blood Status: Halfblood Raised in: Mix of both Personality: Shy and reserved are not words you would associate with Cae Claiborne. People who do not know Cae well may think she's obnoxious or overly dramatic, but those who take the time to get to know her will find she is caring, loyal and more sensitive than she wants people to believe she is.
Cae is energetic and busy; she always wants to do something and integrates herself into any action she can find. She wants to be successful and has the ability to do so, if only she would focus long enough to do what she needs to do to achieve her goals. She is a firm believer in "carpe diem" and quickly finds herself in over her head if she isn't with someone who keeps her grounded in reality.
Though she has a wild streak, Cae values education and has a strong desire to become an independent, successful witch and leave her current life behind her, which comes in handy when it's time for classes, as her desire to excel outweighs her desire for feeling the thrill of an adrenaline high.
Cae places a great deal of importance on her reputation and the way she appears to others, especially those in authority, so she tries to reign her free spirit when in the company of adults or older students who she is attempting to impress. She will quickly drop whatever scheme or adventure she may be partaking in at the mere suggestion that a professor or prefect is nearby, which can be annoying to those she is conspiring with, though it is sometimes beneficial for keeping under the radar or out of trouble.
Cae is drawn to those who are quiet or seem sad, and often tries to cheer them up with her silly personality. Unfortunately for the general population, she is also drawn to those who are equally high energy, especially on days where she feels wound up enough to tackle a dragon and needs to release some of her energy. On those days, she usually finds herself in some sort of trouble even when she's trying to fly under the radar.
Cae is loyal to her friends and would go to great lengths to protect them or make them feel safe or happy. She is fiercely protective, and sometimes will overstep her boundaries when it comes to defending someone she cares about. She is quick to burn bridges, so to speak, with those who she deems a threat to her friends and doesn't always remember self-preservation skills when it comes to engaging in a verbal, or physical if necessary, row with someone who she feels has harmed her loved ones. This can be problematic if she has two friends who are fighting, because she often ends up accidentally upsetting both parties with her words when all is said and done.
Ultimately, Cae just wants to have fun and live the best life she can before she has to become an adult and shoulder permanent responsibilities.
Talented with/in: Flying. Potions.
Detailed Backstory: Cae is the oldest of two Claiborne children. She has a younger brother, Darion, who is 10, but she has not seen him since the summer before her fourth year of school. At the end of 4th year, her parents and Darion were involved in an accident that left both Claiborne children orphaned. With no other family to take them in, Cae was placed in a muggle group care home for teens and Darion in a foster home. Having been a close knit family prior to the accident, the transition has been difficult and traumatic for Cae, but she is making peace with the situation and adjusting to the chances that have taken place. She hopes that once she is an adult and out of school, she can adopt Darion and bring together the only family she has.
Cae's mother was a witch, though her father was a muggle. For the first few years of Cae's life, they lived in a muggle village, but moved to a magical one shortly after Darion was born. The family returned to their muggle village during Cae's third year of school. She feels comfortable in either setting, which was a blessing when she found herself a ward of the state.
The Claibornes were a happy family, with both parents supporting the children in whatever interest they chose to pursue. It was because of their support that Cae feels comfortable being herself and is as free-spirited as she is.
