Want threads are requests that another RPer can use as a template to build from - for anyone who's unsure what character they'd like to make or prefer something that's sought after. It makes joining the RP as that new character easier, as there's already pre-arranged plots and a RP buddy ready to go. Please follow the guidelines below.
Anyone can respond to your wanted post, though they should be in the process of making a character. Please do not respond to a want if you already have a character who's been accepted, or you're not even close to meeting the requirements for making another one. Wants are only for characters being made for a specific purpose/outcome. If you simply want to plot with a character, use the Plotters feature instead.
One thread per request. If you're looking for a best friend and also a rival, then each need their own wanted thread. Please only make wants if you're looking for something specific and have your heart set on it - asking for another classmate or a friend doesn't need to be a request; those happen naturally over time as more members join.
When you accept a want and have discussed it, a mod will declare it "accepted". The accepting person then has 1 week from that mod post to submit a character application or the want thread will be reopened for others to consider. Please keep in mind that Hogwarts houses are determined by the sorting form and ceremony - house cannot be pre-decided, not even for fulfilling a want thread.
Making a Want Thread
When creating a thread, you must use and fill out the form listed below. Then add a label for which category it's for. Labels can be found in the cog/settings drop-down button when creating a post (not via quick reply) or when having selected a thread. Mods may add a label for you if you've forgotten or weren't able to add one, but please try your best.
You are responsible for keeping track of your want thread/s. If you will be absent from site, please note it there. If someone responds, try to reply as soon as possible. Let a staff member know if you need assistance or if you'd like to remove your want thread.
Unless you're required to put something, you can either add the specifics you're looking/hoping for (and how flexible you are with them) or just note it as OPEN - meaning the member making the character can create it from scratch.
You can be as detailed or basic as you want, but try not to be too picky. If your want ad is accepted, the person making the character retains creative freedom to flesh out their character and add more than what may be specified - so long as they still meet the requirements of what you've discussed.
Category: Required. Are they friends, family, rivals, or other? Hogwarts Year: Required. You can list the exact one you need, or some options. Blood Status: Must be consistent with their background. Gender: Self-explanatory. Base Personality: Required. What traits are needed to ensure the character fits the category? Friends need to get along, rivals must clash, and family members should have things in common, etc. If you'd really like the characters to be in the same house, add extra notes to help be suited to that house but the entire want cannot be dependent on house. Perhaps include a "if you're not in the house needed..." alternative idea, which may be put here or in the history section below. Interests: Hobbies, talents, things to bond/clash over etc. Background: Their family, upbringing, social status and so on - if needed. Their History: If your characters are not yet friends/rivals/other then this section won't need much. But if they're family members or already have the connection established (such as being friends for years) then the details of that should be here. Anything Else: For any requests or ideas you have that don't fit the above sections. Like if they're rubbish at a certain class, have specific goals/allegiance, or whatever it may be. Family members don't always share the same surname or follow a naming theme if their circumstances are different/distant, but anything regarding those details should be noted. Face Claim: If you already have a FC in mind, provide the name here (or some details of what to base them on - such as must have dark hair, or must be Asian etc). Remember that if the want is accepted, the FC must still go through the approval process in the assigned Face Claim section. Be sure to mention if you insist on the chosen FC or are willing to negotiate alternatives/options.
A unique Hogwarts experience set in the early 2000s. Aside from a few canon Professors, all characters (and plots) here are created by members/staff. This isn't Harry Potter's story; it's yours.
